What if one rod falls out of place from its holes after you have glued the headliner and have it installed, do you have to everything down and start again?
@mgfire2008 Well, one falling is usually one of three things: 1. the headliner is not tight enough front to rear. 2. The retainer wires are not installed on car so equipped. 3. Your side to side tension is way too loose. Send us a picture of the problem: jford @ autorestomod (dot) com.
((( SUCCESS ))) headliner is in & looks great !!! Special thanks to God, my Dad and you guys here at AutoRestoMod for all the advice & these video's... such a great help!!! now, on to the next 99 things it is going to take to finish this interior :) and I am so glad to have seen the window install video... such a blessing... and a big thank you for answering back my questions!!!
@bingnowtv We're glad to help Bing! These videos are designed to help you know if it is something you want to tackle...Be sure to let us know if there is anything we need to cover!
great video... I am starting my headliner project today and needed the inspiration. The pre-install of the visor screws and dome light... priceless!!! Needed to know what glue to use also. Thanks for making this video!
@AutoRestoMod Thanks AutoRestoMod guys!! I found the 3M 08008 at the auto parts store... priceless!!! Dad says use contact cement? Watched the video again & am still apprehensive cuz I have a '67 hard top and need some more tips on how to do the area around the rear window & back seat small window sail panel. Have ya'll done a video on the hard top yet?
@bingnowtv No problem. Contact cement could work but the weatherstrip adhesive has a longer work time and once the contact adhesive is stuck...it is stuck. We haven't done a hardtop yet Bing. And it will probably be a few months before we get to one. Just remember to work from the top of the window opening and the rear window opening down, removing wrinkles as you go.
@AutoRestoMod Once again... Thanks! I'm going with the 3M 08008 & have done a prefit like c7xr7 said 9 months ago. I've got my wind-lace strips cut and I'm all ready to go. I sure am glad I found your video, it has really helped my confidence level for this project. I also watched the window install video as well... you guys are awesome!!!
Resmod: I know how to do this, BUT, be nice to SHOW do-it-yourselfers. HOW TO 'ROPE' the glass in! I couldn't find any good videos on howto on youtube.
I hope it goes so easy on my 52! I'm doing a lite green headliner, will the black glue bleed through? Is there something different I should use? Thanks, another great video.
@roycreley Roy, use the yellow weatherstrip adhesive.Part number 8001. If it is the perforated headliner be careful on placement of the glue. Pull the headliner into position using some snap on windlace and use a soap stone to mark the headliner. that way you'll have less likelihood for bleed through.
Gee, wish I had a video to watch prior to doing my headliner. Nice job. The only thing I did differently was to completely install the headliner using the wind-lace sections and binder clips prior to gluing anything.
ha ha i no how Jeff felt putting in the headliner, i put mine in last summer. it gets kinda tricky, couldn't demonstrate it any better. great video :)

@bingnowtv We're glad we could help Bing! We always use 3M weatherstrip adhesive 08011, or the 08008.

@AutoRestoMod That makes sense! I guess my next question will be how to get the adhesive off the good side of the headliner. I know how I am...
roycreley 11 months ago
@roycreley Prep-Sol 3919S (make sure to do it before it sets up over night) Try it on a section of headliner that you will be cutting away first.
