My horse is about 7 and lucky for him he's healthier than ever! (fat too) were sending him to a trainer so he can get the training he needs to be that jumper i want him to be (and he obviously wants to jump considering he kept jumping over a jump I set up in the arena)

Just finished reading it all (and watched your video). I use to lease a Trakehner with pretty bad arthritis (and he has recently been getting watched for possible navicular)

It certainly isn't fun watching them go downhill like this, but stay positive! :) MANY horses acquire arthritis at some point in their life and it is generally one of the more easier managed conditions... She is obviously under good care and well loved - she'll pull through!

Read it all - do not give up. My mum's horse was diagnosed with Navicular at 7 yrs old and it looked bad as he was so lame, however after two lots of Tildren he has been sound for 18 months and is now jumping and competing as before. All we try and do is not run him on hard ground. Also look into remedial shoeing - Gizmo has Eggbar shoes on the front and they make a dramatic difference - if he wears normal shoes he is crippled.

I know how you feel, my loan horse has it and hes got so much talent an he just cant use it. Could you try super flex by naff? My mare is rising 6 and will get it as she has locking patellar in both stiffles, super flex is fucking amazing. There is another one but its rather expensive. I would give that a go, its turned my mares life around. She started to lock up when she was 2 and i would often find her lets locked up in the field or stuck out behind her. It broke my heart but shes a lot better now

I read the description, a gelding that I helped train had the same issues, but we caught it too late, we can't canter him without him being lame for a week ): We can get on him and walk lightly, but nothing hard on him. He just turned 7 as well, which is sad. He has arthritis in almost all of his leg joints, back and front. For a while actually, we were getting steriod shots that helped, but the economy took a crap and the stuff became expensive. Good luck with Dee! Please keep us updated!

my horse has arthritis in his hocks as well (from years of barrel racing & reining), and after being injected he went from a three to a one (on the one-five scale of performance/movement) and hasn't had to be injected again since. i really hope everything works out well :)

make sure to find a very good joint supplement if you are going to supplement her with that, because a lot/most of them do not work at all. good luck :3

Oh im so glad you know what it is even if its not the best news. Better to know though! My mare was diagnosed with navicula at 5 and only slight and had tildren and its been a year now and shes not be lame or stiff once! (touch wood) and shes hunted and sj but this is why i have her as her owner bred her to do 1.30's+ and obvs thats not possible when they have a problem but seriously alot of cases u can just carry on with arthiritus if its treated so really hope this is you both.
