Breitling Chronomat Evolution Review

I went to a few different shops, some Chronomat 01`s bracelets are not shinny, but I wonder is it because they taped the bracelet or there are 2 types of bracelets, please advice breitlingsource!!!

I just bought the all silver face version.  Would you happen to know what material that the dial uses? Is it metallic like on the old headwind for example? I wonder....

I cannot believe that high priced watches still use ETA calibers instead of their in house ones. it means that you're buying a watch at $4000 with a caliber that doesn't came across $500, even if it is a chronometer grade

one of the PROBLEMS OF HAVING PUSHBUTTONS THAT DON'T LOCK IS THAT THEY GO OFF ON YOUR WRIST AND START WHEN YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO, that is what I see as the benefit of lock push buttons in addition to water resistance

The second hand is the 9 o clock dial. The large hand with the breitling logo on it is for the Chrono.

Does the seconds hand move only to operate the chronographs? Or does it move without operating the chronographs? I love the seconds hand movement on a mechanical watch. Thanks!

You are incorrect...the only Breitling that is equipped with magnetic pushers is the old chrono avanger M1 and the currenty Avegner Seawolf chrono. The super avenger uses traditional pushers as does every other chrono equipped Breitling!

That is absolutely correct.. if I had stated that the Super Avenger had magnetic pushers i did not mean to, as having owned two of them I know this is not the case, nor is it prudent to use magnets with any mechanical movement!

Great video..just one thing that was mentioned was wrong. The screw down pushers have nothing to do with increasing water resistance as the Chrono Avenger and Super Avenger as well as the Avenger Skyland do not have screw down pushers. The gaskets are responsible for that. The screw down pushers eliminate the chance of them being pushed while the watch is underwater. I enjoy your reviews by the way!

No he's right. The Super Avenger etc use magnetic pushers which don't 'go through' into the movement. The Chronomat has nomral pushers which do 'go through' and, in the case of this watch, need the locking collars to keep them water resistant to 300m. In any case, they're just different watches.

Breitlingsource, great review and great website. I studied your replica comparisons closely before purchasing my second-hand chronomat. Is there a trick to get the second hand and minute hand synchronized (i.e. as the second hand lines up with '60' the minute hand lines up with a minute marker)? Maybe I'm a bit OCD but for what it costs, I think they should sync up. Or maybe I need to send mine in for service?

Forgot to mention that if I stop the second hand on the '60' and set the minute hand inline with a minute marker and start the time again, the minute hand hits the next mark usually 15 seconds late

You will have to send it in for servicing if you want that to line up perfectly, they will have to replace the hands probably. It will cost a fair bit.

No, can just set the minute hand a little past the minute marker and then should line up. With a bit of practise he'll do it first time - i am also OCD about these things!!

Ive had this watch for about 3yrs now and I wear it everyday. Its a great watch and very accurate I set it back a couple mins. every 3-4 mos. not bad for automatic. I did have the same problem as the model on the vid. the chrono hand was jumpy and although it never seemed to afffect its time keeping I sent it back after about a yr and half and they fixed it under warr. no problems since its been perfect.

hmmm i just noticed that the chrono hand movement seems a bit jumpy...now i have a few watches that either use a valjoux 7750 or a modified one,and the chrono hand is not that jumpy...anyway,it may be the camera,but damn that looks bad :(

Hi Breitlingsource, it's a waste of time to compare fake with gen, breitling chrono evo is a very easy watch to replicate, it has nothing special, technically. The fake with swiss 7750 is as good as gen.sorry dude but I think it's a very ordinary watch

very good review and I decided to buy this one. Initially I was going to get a blue dial Chrono Superocean, for which I like the date-day display. But the Chronomat Evolution is clearly a much better model. By the way, why the Chrono Superocean domed crystal doesn't give such an undistorted view?

Big draw back in having to unscrew the chrono pushers. The omega chronos are water tight and ready to use at a moments notice.

No, not really. There is only advantages to the screwdown chrono pushers. Turns out they are actually watertight whether they are screwed or not.. the screwing is to prevent accidently activation under water.

i im having a small issue.. one of the chrono pushers is stuck.. the bottom one.. i cant seem to even budge it.. i dont now if its even possible to over tighten it but clearly i have.. and whats worse there is no service agent in srilanka..

I just purchased this watch back in May 2007. I have the Two Tone Stainless/Gold Model with a Black face. My model was a little over $6,500. It is a great watch which I believe will hold it's value for years to come.
