  • why not jump on and stop it?

  • I was actually in the last boat to turn away at 1:25...It was pretty cool to see the boat jump the rocks, just not when it was aimed right at you.

  • i was at the sandbar when that happened.how did they get thrown off of the boat.but i sall it hit the rocks in stuart.i was there.

  • whay happens really doesnt matter.. what the heck you are doing does not matter.. just shit

  • wise the captain didnt put his boat or his crew in danger..

fouling the prop of the contender with a dock line or anchor rope wouldve stopped it though

  • Well, when I was a little girl. I was run over at Age 12 by a 45 HP motor boat - - not fun - - and came a hair from being paralyzed. You guys freaked me out when you swam over to that thing. I might have climbed the rocks to the side and jumped in that way - - or went on the rocks and reached in to the key to shut it off. Unfortunately I didn't know better back in 1974. Currently writing a book about my experience in hopes of helping others do better than we did that day.

  • dude that boat was about 100ft from us when it hit the rocks, almost gave my dad a strroke.

  • holy crap what idiots

  • That was nice of them to follow the boat. I am sure the owner was pleased to get his boat back.

  • 1.) KILL SWITCH to be worn by operator of vessel.

2.) LIFE JACKETS WORN while vessel is underway.

3.) FLARES (numerous) should have been shot off on a 45 degrees angle towards the run away vessel to warn of potential danger.

4.) NO LIVES are worth losing or impairing to try to save anyones boat or motor.

5.) CONDITIONS were NOT condusive to boarding that vessel.

6.) UNLESS you have expierience in boating, don't bother commenting.

Thank you and have a safe boating day!! ~ Laurie A. Borguss

  • DAMNNN!!!

    I WOULDVE JUMPED ON

  • Decision making is hard, no doubt, but if you make the choice to not put yourself at risk, then dont climb onto a running boat, half on the rocks, throught the bow of the boat! Why the bow, why not the sides? why not leave it on the rocks?

To swim up to the bow and climb on is the exact opposite of being safe about this. it doesnt make sense

  • Thats why always wear your kill switchstrap..

  • hardcore shit.

  • 1: throw a rope in the water and maybe the propeller picks it up and stops after a few meters.

2: the path was straight and not circular, as happens very often, you could have tried to save the boat

    3) when the boat crushes, it goes over the top of the rocks, and falls on the other side. What if somebody was there?

    4) you approached an over heated engine just swimming. isn't it dangerous?

I think that one's duty in that situation is to prevent ANY damage, not only to yourself.

  • Boat might have had power steering which accounts for it's straight track with no one at the helm. I'm surprised the engine did not have an engine kick up kill swich. ( I think they should come standard on all outboard engines) This would have stopped the motor once it kicked up after hitting the rocks. Without the kill switch the boat could have gone all the way over the rocks and back into the water , taking off again. That would not have been good.

  • at 2:12 only in america would they think the boat would blow up for no reason

they dont blow up just because they r running on land instead of water

  • @sam23696 Actually that motor can blow up out of water, and was probably close, I've seen it.. Outboards are water cooled and require a constant circulation of seawater through the block, (or on land - freshwater through a hose). When out of water, the lower unit isn't pulling in any water. It may seize up and die, or blow a nice chunk out of the block.. Either way, those gents probably saved him 15-20K on a new motor.

  • @sgeary101 i hav used a motor out of water with a hose

it still wouldnt blow up,maybe u mean blow up as in stop wroking cus that would be worst case

anyway i dont care so dont start an argument bout it

  • @sam23696 I'm not out to start an argument either, I only wanted to make a point. So two final thoughts, your motor won't blow up with a hose attached because that is that proper way to flush a motor out of water, and in the future, don't make arogant comments such as "only in america would they think" if you yourself don't have any knowledge on the matter, because it makes you look stupid, and in this case that motor was about to blow a hole through the powerhead.

  • @sgeary101 dont get all defensive my first coment was a joke

so harden up and take a joke seriously

  • @sam23696

I think they were talking about the engines being at wot and not in water

  • @sam23696 But they always do on TV.......

  • Wow To catch a speeding boat like that you need a fast boat , yes you could speed ahead and drag lines across the boats path in hope to bind up the prop, But usually people aren't prepared for such unexpected events. I'm glad they saved the boat..

  • running out of time bitches!

  • The only likely save with out endangering untrained persons would be maybe to try to foul the prop with a rope or net, or direct the boat with your own wake but I'm not sure I'd want to be ahead of it in another boat.

At least it didn't hit a crowded beach or another boat. The boat is most likely a total loss, but when something like this happens, that's not much of a concern. I found it a bit odd that the boat continued in a fairly straight line. Most turn and circle back.

  • what a shame of the boat, in stead of laughing, try to stop ip, imagine that there were kids swimming? what then?

  • 2 Words: Kill Switch

  • for people saying you could just pull up beside it....and bump it....guys its hard enought to steer your own boat at that speed..theres way to many people on board telling you what to do...and since nobody is steering the other boat it could turn direction without warning and drive right into your boat....boat repairs are expensive already....its just not worth

    the risk

  • your and idiot...

  • Take the beer!

  • punkermd73, if they were to bump the boat, they would risk damaging both boats and they get thrown overboard as well!!

  • ive never driven a boat and maybe I've seen too many action movies , but would it have been possible for the boat following alongside to get along the other side of the boat and bump it in another direction so that it would head out to sea instead staying in the inlet?

  • Nice Video

  • Looks like you guys were in a faster boat. You could have passed in front it and thrown a nylon rope out in front of it to get wrapped in the prop to stop it. May have wrecked the motor but not the whole boat. Nice of you to root for it to clear the break wall though.

  • can we say kill switch"ALWAYS WEAR YOUR KILL SWITCH AND LIFE JACKET" it always takes something like this to wake people up. and the idiot in the chase boat who let his friends jump in the water when the boats was on the rocks, all it would have taken was a good wave or two and the boat would be back in the water running right at them, you fools

  • You think the lowers are intact let alone the props? I agree with your first statement tho. Someone could of easily been killed

  • Is there anything like STOPSTIX for BOATS???

if there is the Coast Gurd should usethem and stop it.

  • learn how to spell dumbass. Actually, just learn how to type a sentence so it makes sense

  • Why they dont have a remote shutoff device if i were a rich man i will bulid and sale radio devices to lacate the owner and stop the boat whe out of range not gps, radio, but i just are a poor mexican.

  • tethers tethers tethers you silly morons you'll never learn.

  • Oh.

Great boat test if ever i saw one.

    CRUNCH

  • "You wrecked my boat, YOU GOON" boats n hoes

  • why do so many boaters drive like assholes? how do 3 people get thrown off a boat in calm water unless the driver is a dipshit. i see everyone complaining "you should have saved their boat" ..the clown driving shouldn't have been fucking around. everytime i go to the beach or pretty much anytime i see an ocean or river, i see some asshole in a boat, jet ski, ect being an inconsiderate PIECE OF SHIT! the only thing boaters do is fuck up the ocean & most of them are drinking and driving anyway

  • some times an un predicted thing happens and its just a bad accident, other times it is being a dipshit. but no one goes out onto the water saying hey you know what just for the hell of it im gonna go fast and do things that will probly get my boat destroyed like just the other day i was going to do a trick that i had done a million times before and succeded, something went wrong and i was thrown off the boat luckly i had the killcord on so the boat didnt drive away, i wasnt a danger to enyone

  • Not everyone cares as much as you..I observe MANY boaters. A LOT of them are rude, inconsiderate idiots. The worst of them are the ones with rods onboard..its as if they seek out land fishermen to move right into their fishing area because theyre too stupid to find their own spot..and having the entire ocean to choose from, I think it is just common courtesy for boaters to avoid where people are fishing because it is so easy to do but they love spooking fish people are trying to catch so much

  • @jsg2891 you need to move. Try Mars!

  • search

    YOUNG FLOB

    so funny

    HSL

  • Jump Wily jump!

  • Dusty_C is still banging lot lizzards while he dresses up as a tranny

  • Dumbasses didn't have a kill key with lanyard. Bet they weren't wearing PFDs either.

Aimless just felched his load out of XDBACKUPGUN's bum

  • That's why every boat should have a "hot foot", basically its a gas petal for boats. If your foot comes off, the boat stops!

  • a rope in front of the boat in the water to jam the prop? why let it get destroyed? and the 2 guys that shut it off!! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

  • Yeah im gonna have to agree with vormir...you guys shouldve atleast tried to save the man's boat...maybe the gaff hook on the throttle idea might have worked....man i would've had a hard time just sitting by and watching this thing do a super dave into the rocks...i HATE waste...i get all twitchy when someone leaves the fridge open to long... oh well, guess thats what insurance is for, their gonna have to dig deep on this one...my guess is around $85,000-90,000 for a single motor contender...

  • and that is why there is a deadman switch that can be easily installed if it hasn't already(they function best when the boat pilot/captain/operater wears the pull wire.

  • wearing the wire is too much an inconvience. They would much rather have their boat throw them and go full throttle toward rocks because they got up to get a soda

  • PLEASE get in that!!! WTF?

  • Exactly What a bunch of Pussys and clowns. Me and my boy (we race Superbikes) would have pulled along side that POS and jumped right on. That was a WEAK display.

  • holy shit guys...hard ass right here, foxxtrott is a grade a bad ass and wants everyone on youtube to know! ahhahahahaha hey guess what i sky dive every morning to my work place....superbikes, psh

  • @Foxxtrott1100

And you and your boy would have gotten a faceplant into a brick wall of ocean.

  • DAMN, YOU ARE SO BADASS.

    :-|

  • Would have jumped back in that thing.

  • Honestly, you all could have saved that guys boat. Its been done many times, you dont need anyone to jump over. Simple, boat brush, gaff, stick, to knock back the throttle. You also could have tried to foul the prop, Lines and life preservers, Im sure your donzi could have out run the little ol contender.

But, if the situation was to dangerous, you made the right decision. I just thinking the owner would be happier not trying to fight the insurance versus getting to see a youtube video.

  • I agree with Vormir, that boat could have EASILY been saved! I would have claimed salvage rights.

  • Imagine this video if they had saved it! woulda been sick!

  • what was the driver doing that was able to throw three people of a boat lol

  • that's the reason to where a kill switch!

  • ha ha ha how did three people get thrown from a boat?...... now if it was just on fire at the same time... that would have been really cool and then blew up when it jumped the rocks

  • i laughed when the guy said 'watch it jump the rocks' n everyone went 'OHHHHHHHH'

  • really no one weares a kill switch but you should not be boating if you cant stay in the boat in 1 to 2 foot seas

  • I was on duty that day. We got the call, which came in good btw, and we FLEW up the ICW lights and sirens.. Just as we got to Jupiter Inlet, we were advised to RTB (return to base) Because the boat hit the north jetties, it was now out of our AOR (Area Of Response). Awesome job filming Jermey

  • first of all how did 3 people fall of a boat..i mean all 3

  • Hit a good wave the wrong way at high speed and all 3 could easily be ejected. No seat belts on most boats.

  • ahhh that explains...well too bad for them

  • those center consoles are solid I like them

  • So what about the people who owned(own) the boat? What's there story after this is all said and done?

  • Wouldn't it be possible to get up close to it, and somebody jump into it, Risky... but probably still worth a try (especially if the outcome was worse)

  • i was out at the sand bar that day we heard it hit the rocks and all the commotion on the radio.....glad no one died

  • An they swim toward the BOW!!! that boat would have hit the water it would have been bad news for them. Swim in the side next time guys.

  • NEXT TIME!

  • haha

  • Too bad the guy that wanted to stop the dangerous situation had no support..I would have liked a chance to remedy the dangerous situation. Kill switch lanyard was still hangin there. Anyone have a gaff? LOL

  • HOLYMOLY lol that sucks

  • seen boat at a place in stuart. engine is spent. 2x2 repair needed to fwd bow. gel-coat repairs needed to strbrd side about 5000.00 in repairs needed. go look for your self boat is next to lewis marine in stuart on A1A.

  • Spent engine, 2x2 repair to the bow, and probably a lot of gel coat repairs sounds like a little more then $5k in damage to me.

A $3 piece of string that was probably already attached to a kill switch would have prevented the accident IF that string was attached to the operator......

  • I have repaired alot of boats go look for you self contender make a hell of a boat.

looking at the video and seeing the boat after i whould buy one. 5k in boat not engine. power head short block and lower unit just parts about no labor 6k.

  • how was the condition of the hull/boat?

  • wow i was just in the inlet today good thing there was noboady snook fishing by the jetty

  • Glad knowone was hurt. This should serve as a lesson to slow down and never under estimate the force of wave. Good job to the people on the chase boat!!!

  • haha.. that happen right here in my backyard!! stuart reppin baby!! rocky point!!

  • SICK!

  • no the people gpt thrown off

  • In response to all of the comments about this story I just want to say: We had 11 people on our boat and would no way put our lives in danger for an empty boat. The entire time we were next to the boat we were busy radioing coast guard and notifing authorities. We stopped after we knew there were no more boats in danger. We were prepared to take action if other boats were in danger. The boat was secure due to the lower unit of the motor wedged in the rocks No one was hurt and thats what matters

  • @jeremyglass86 The contender is repaired. It took 3 and 1/2 months to do the glass work and a nother 2 and 1/2 weeks on the body work. She just came back from being gell coated and is getting re rigged right now. the boat was definately hurt bad. The bow was so bad that I had to glass the inside, becaust there was nothing left on the uotside. Go out to photobucket and do a search for bobwall1 and when it return no results found scroll down and view my profile to see the contender pics.

  • @MrBobwall1

Congrats man! Glad to see it didnt get trashed....hope to see ya out on the water again soon. Be careful and if you see our boat feel free to come over and chat!

  • @jeremyglass86 Actually you did put two people in danger . The two jumping in the water and swimming to the boat and trying to climb on it from the front . The motor was still running . If that boat came loose from the rocks because the two guys weight on the front end , it would have ran them over in the water . Unbelievable that they did that .

  • Hats off to those who helped! You should be commended for doing your best to protect others from getting hurt. You reacted with pure instinct without worrying about yourselves. More people should have the courage and character you showed to your community. Way to go!

  • contender R.I.P

  • I'm sorry, how did this happen, was that on purpose?

  • Lucky guys. As they pulled up to the boat while on the rocks, they never should have pulled in front of it. Had it popped off the rocks, they'd have been T-boned.

Then the idiots jumped in the water right in front of the boat. Again, if it had come off the rocks, they'd have been hamburger.

  • haha....read about this shit in the paper today and had to check it out.

  • Holy poop on a steeack!!! 0.o

  • wtf? did the gas get stuck?

  • this is saying how the very as to why peoples should always be being into the boat - how is to why people of being v ery and stupid!

  • so you guys are..super badass!!

  • should have rode up alongside and pulled a cowboy move. btw, how in the hell do three people all get thrown from a boat?

  • They all sit on one side of the boat and run at a fast speed and hit a swell directly from the side from not paying attention....o and not wear a kill switch or life jacket!

  • A lousy captain is how.

  • great footage!

  • autotether... would have prevented this. Suggest every boater reading this hunt down their website and order one.

  • That was some crazy footage. I was at the sandbar when marine patrol flew by, I also heard when patrol said they stabilized the boat over another guy's radio, I was wondering what he meant, and obviously this is it.

  • KILL SWITCH!!!!

  • Kill Switch ese...Kill Switch...

    JD

  • reminds me of free willy with the boat jumping over the rocks.

  • whats the point off that??

  • Boat is replaced or fixed at no cost when it crashes for whoever owns it because you get insurance on those $50,000 dollar CC's...therefore there is no reason to jump on a boat going that fast and risk property and lives.

  • I actually missed the boat crashing but saw the coast guard going out to the accident!!!!!!!! There was alot of smoke though....great footage guys!!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao fail.

  • You guys did the right thing! I'm glad your heroic side didn't kick in and you tried the 007 stunt. Could've turned out a-lot worst! I saw you guys as I passed by the STI and was wondering what happend. Now I know.. thanks for sharing! See you guys out on the water!

  • Safety is always #1, I agree putting your passengers at risk is not an option. Laughing is harsh, but hey it's all fun in games until some one fall out of there own boat. It was very fortunate that the boat didn't collide with the the on coming traffic as well as completely making it over the break wall. Great video, a little glass work and a new impeller she'll be good as new

  • The three that were THROWN out were picked up by another boat while this boat served as the camera crew to bring you the great footage to comment on!

Yes yes, below is suppose to say "You're a..."

  • Derick, you're RITARD! You don't go trying something that you've seen in the movies, risking your own life to save a BOAT!

The only thing that I do see as being extremely dangerous was swimming directly towards the bow of the boat, instead of from the sides... However, they may have seen that it was secured up on the rocks, but with the engine still going along with the boat wakes to possibly free it, the better approach would have been from the 3 or 9 o'clocks...

    Next stop, Sandsprit!

  • Good Job, well done BRAVO!!!

  • 29 seconds in... "im not scratching my boat" what a dick....

  • Why does that make him a dick? What do you want the guy to do pull alongside a runaway boat for someone to transition between the two? You fuckin' idiot, the dude shouldn't risk lives to save a machine.

However, if I was driving and a fuckhead like you was in my boat, I'd pull right in front of the runaway boat and push you out of my boat. In the future asshole, don't be such a fuckin' loser!

  • the boat just wana be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Now that would suck! Getting thrown from your boat and having it ram a breaker wall of rocks. Hope everyone was alright!

  • Did the dude drown while you guys chased the boat?

  • Thats why u should wear the auto-shut off cord attached to you....but know one ever uses it...

  • Damn amateur boaters. How the hell did they fall off anyways? They must have been trying to ghost ride it and not realized they couldn't swim that fast until they were in the water.

  • damn you should have pulled up next to it and jumped on...

  • Buckeyes202

They're not batman is not a movie. That would be really dangerous to try. I LMAO when they were cheering when the boat was about to crash.

  • must have been one hell of a day for ya didn't it?

  • hey jeremy im rustys little brother u went to school with him and was freinds with him umm leave a message btw great that u caught that bye.

  • You should have called MacGyver, he would have saved the boat and the guys that fell out.....MACGYVER!!!!!!

  • not Macgyver or 007 but CHUCK NORRIS would of got it with a backflip!

  • Best thing that could have been done was to let the boat run aground. Even on calm waters, this would be dangerous. I guess that is a good example on how you should wear your kill switch 'eh?!

  • Even 007 would have said "Fuck That "

You guys did the right thing, anyone who says they would've jumped on that boat is full of shit.

  • I think you guys did the right thing. Trying to jump in that thing would have been insanely risky. Great job making sure nobody was hurt.

  • You guys did the right thing so no one got hurt. sweet video tho!

  • How scary!

  • Comment removed

  • Come on people look at how much time we had....about a minute and the boat was moving at about 35mph in choppy seas....we did what was SAFE without putting any one of us in danger or damageing our boat.

  • Same thing happened to a boater in one of NY's finger lakes. The boat however was running in circles. A Sheriff ended up tying life-jackets to some rope and tossing it into the path. The boat ran it over and stopped the boat.

  • Anybody who says you should have done more, or tried to board that moving boat has no idea. There would be no safe way to board that boat - end of story.

  • what a shame, these guys coulda done more to save that boat. I saw A LOT of cop boats haulin ass out of Sebastian Inlet at the same time, maybe this is why?

  • You're a fool and definitely haven't been on a boat in the water. What exactly would you have done evan13??? The guys did exactly what they were supposed to do considering how fast it was going.

  • damn justin u werent kidding when you said you had astory

  • what no 007 moves?

  • Too bad they didnt have the killswitch around their arm... Probably didn't have one to begin with.

  • Damn Jeremy cant believe that you actually seen it!!

    Mark

  • hey Jeremy How did they fall out of the boat ?

  • It made the news today but they had a 20 min interview with me...only aired a 5 sec clip then interviewed some guy who said he saw it from his house!! wtf? I dont understand the media?

  • wow that was crazy, glad to know nobody got seriously hurt except for the broken arm.

Where were they when they fell off? It looks like it was a ways from the inlet up the river judging by how long it took to hit the rocks.

  • btw how did they fall out anyway Jer? doesnt look that rough....

  • read the title

  • hmm and all could have been prevented by wearing the gay ass kill switch lanyard that no one ever thinks about.......

not that I do, but just a thought.....

    hope they have enough insurance

  • Comment removed

  • thats so true! no one ever wears them anymore but this will make you think!

  • I was on the 32' Glasstream and pulled the three out of the water and towed the Contender to the ramp. You guys on the Donzi did a great job helping and we are glad the boat did not run into anyone. The three guys ejected are o.k. one ended up with a broken arm. Thanks for being there! PS I am glad you had enough sense not to try the 007 stunt!

  • The boat was def not comming off the rock and if it was it wasnt going anyway with no prop blades, cracked transom, and hole in the front of the boat. But the damage really could not be seen of the hole but when they were towing it in it was streaming water out of the bilge the entire time. As far as the motor, the lower unit was trash and most of the motor caseing was melting and i would imagine warped cylinders etc....

  • Ouch. Not the smartest decision to swim in front of the boat though. If it suddenly took off....

  • how bad was the damage to the boat

  • Yep that was us!! Lov 2 Fish is the boat name 32 donzi

  • Saw The Boat after it crashed, you must ahve been the Donzi that was there before us.
