  • does Gauri love him just for what he has??

  • Wait, i havent seen this whole movie so im a bit lost: He's making both women believe he loves them, and they believe him?

  • @rhythmictrolllover nop he's in love with Gauri the jealous one LOL and the other one (white women) is helpin the village so the dont pay triple tax but she falls in love with him

  • @rhythmictrolllover No, he loves Gauri and Gauri loves him. But the other woman (cant remember her name) loves him and thinks he loves her, though he doesnt. To him, the white girl is just a friend who is trying to help his village.

  • Listen, India has a multi-faceted and complex history. This song represents a lot more than what a lot of you think it does. I also resent the implications that whites should stick to their own. You clearly have missed the point of this film if you believe that. Eliza became his partner in a world wide community. That is the whole idea--she helped the farmers here and then she helped her own people (it's implied). That is what we're supposed to focus on I believe.

  • what a beautiful song...but still 118,719...amazing

  • Reasons why I love this movie

1)One of the only bollywood films where the love story is sweet, believable, and not completely melodramatic like most others

2)The movie is not primarily about love

    3)The music rocks!

4)The cricket game at the end was totally worth the extra hour of movie time

  • Aamir is gorgeous! Look at that smile!

  • @hr412 I KNOW. but why the fuck does he have to marry ugly bitches. i think he has a small penis. but i could care less i would marry him because he is hot guy with a cute smile.

  • stupid english ruin the perfect hindi song!!!!

  • @therichavandergill Oh, that's alright then, all us people who can't understand Hindi and relied on the subtitles to fully appreciate this beautiful movie will go back to Hollywood, since clearly we're not good enough for you.

  • @ka7hy i got something you can stick but you wont love it either you dumb bint.

  • The only part of the ending that sucked was Elizabeth never found love again ever...seriously sweetie, move on.

  • @ka7hy no need for that.

  • @ka7hy .what a retarded comment. there would be no cricket match without the "white bitch".dumbarse.

  • I remembered stumbling across this movie a decade ago while surfing the tv channels. It was a decent movie and the only bollywood movie I've ever watched and watched it completely.

This is a lovely song, didn't care for the "english intermissions" though. The leading actor seems to have retained central asian/turkic features especially around the eyes. Intelligent looking chap.

  • no bitch you ain't in love, you just need a dick

  • poor dove... elizabeth just threw her up wtf

  • Love this song, but why did the subbers randomly use Scottish/Irish terms like Laddie and Lassie? lol

  • So dil AND hain is heart? I'm trying to learn.. I hope I'm not way off. Anyone?

  • @Jaseeka1986 Only Dil is heart

  • @gracewang2010 Thanks! Do you know what 'hain' is perchance?

  • @Jaseeka1986 I am a fluent hindi speaker. I am not sure what you mean by 'hain' ? Point it in the video..may be then I can understand what word you are referring to,

  • @Jaseeka1986 There is a Hindi word called "Hai" spoken in the video at 1:32, 1:35 by amir. It is a Hindi equivalent for the verb "is" For eg. Mera naam Jack hai. (My name is Jack). Usually appears at the end of the sentence.

  • @gracewang2010 Wow! That must be what I was thinking of. Some videos have it spelled both ways, it must be a mis spelling or something. You've been awesome ;) Thank you!

  • @Jaseeka1986

well hain is a verb-like word which connects the subject and the verb. in hindi language you find it at the end of the sentence. therefore it cannot be translated directly, only in combination with the verb. if you wanna look this topic up more closely on wikipedia then look for "copula"

  • I love this movie!! I'm in America and my world lit teacher made this movie part of her curriculum. Best movie EVER.

  • oh bollywood movies...I love this movie, but how does Aamir Khan somehow manage to catch Gracy Singh's hand when he's at the top of the hill, and she's running away after being at the bottom?! 1:58

  • @worldseries9507

lol...me trying to figure that as well...or how about on 5:00, when Aaamir appears from nowhere to hug her from behind?

usually hate the cheesiness of Bollywood, but Lagaan is one exception definitely. the rule with Bollywood is not to think too much while watching, and let it all sink in :)

btw i am sure u ll agree that these improbable scenes of 1:58 & 5:00 scenes are followed by some amazing sequences, that make u forget the improbabilities and one loses oneself in them.

  • Classic re-visited...watch this fusion of rusticity with modernity...fusion of east with west...sheer magic on screen...Aamir Khan, AR Rehman, Gracy Singh, Rachel Kelly, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan & Vasundhara Das...thanks guys for creating this timeless wonder.... don't for forget to admire the last few seconds.....

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this in 2011.

  • The song where we made the Brits dance to our tunes!

  • Seriously.. The start of the song and the expressions of gracy Singh shows a tru love and also it makes me cry to be honest.. So natural

  • Ugh hate the white girl part. Ruins the song but the rest is really sweet.

The way I see this song is that Gauri (representing Radha) and Bhuvan (representing Krishna from the other song) are in love with each other. The white woman loves Bhuvan too, like a gopi loves Krishna, but he doesn't love her back.

  • @zebraorchid99 LMFAO! I'm a white woman, too, but I totally agree! It was such a turn-off to see that part pop up, it almost made me switch to another! But the other parts thankfully overshadowed the "white girl part" .. lol

  • @zebraorchid99 I think rachel Shelley looks incredibly cute as well. And her acting is brilliant in the film. She actually overshadows Gracy in terms of acting in the film. For a foreign actress to take up such a challenging role is commendable.

  • Anyone else catch that according to the "English" subtitles Gauri said he "Fluttered around her like a Pigeon" and then Elizabeth has a part where she throws a pigeon of the balcony?? Coincidence.... I think not. lol didn't like her character in the film anyway!

  • why did elizabeth appear was it like in his mind??

  • @Liverfever123 It's acutally Elizabeth's fantasy. She becomes a part of Bhuvan's world (notice how she shows up at first with her green eyes and then they are brown), and she sees him becoming a part of her world (via the ballroom moment).

  • Does she have to be so mean to the bird?

  • To be that girl Aamir Khan is singing to!

  • annu malik disliked this

  • this is honestly the best song ever

  • that man is well small :LL

  • whats a lassie??...

  • omg.....aamir khan looked so freakin cute around 2:02 ish 2:03. his smile is so adorable!

  • WHOOPS I MEAN CHICK OR THE BRITISH GIRL?

  • I NEED HELP MORELIKE A QUESION SO WAS HE REALLY IN LOVE WITH GAUDI? OR THE OTHER GIRL CUS IT SAID THE OTHER HICK REMAINED HIS RADHA SO YEA CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN PLEASE?

  • @naomiepinamendoza The british girl was in love with him, she even confessed to him (but in english, so he could not undesrtand). But he was already in love with Gauri, as you can see in the other parts. She was his "Radha" just to say that she was in love with him in a platonic way.

  • @ImPalacio

    so...what is "radha"?

  • @MoMolOr46 Did you saw the movie? Radha it's one of the couples of Krishna. she is Krishna's best friend as far as I know, they met at childhood, and they fell in love, but Radha got married with another guy, but that marriage wasnt truth because they never had sex or were in love. She loves Krishna, got married but never loved her husband not in body or soul.

I like indian mitology, and Ive read a few, but it's kinda confusing sometimes :) Im not indian, maybe someone could explain better. :D

  • @ImPalacio

thanks! it helps me a whole lot! I shall watch the movie now!

  • @MoMolOr46 hey r u english?

  • @shariar1995

    yes....why?

  • @MoMolOr46 ... i was just curious.. glad english people like hindi movies...

  • @shariar1995

im actually asian! lol! I thought you meant as in if im american! lol! ive always been a fan of bollywood movies ever since i was a small child!

  • @MoMolOr46 Krishna's lover. Read about it, very interesting stuff.

  • Actually some stories tell a platonic love Radha/Krishna some other say there was more, but since "Radha" was his first love, innocent and young you could say it was platonic. Also, Radha was not the wife, but she was only for him... as this British girl.

  • Hilariously enough, I find the english part is really annoying, even though english is the only language i speakXD

  • "I feel eternal bliss" as a line, has always bugged me. "I feel" is NOW, present tense.

This is an impossibility including the word "eternal". If you feel that your bliss is going to last forever, now that's a different matter. I still love the song and wish it was all Hindi, sung straight through. ♪ ♫

  • nice song..........

  • I do have a slight problem with the whole "jealous woman" title.Clearly you are not Indian now do you understand this scene nor the culture.Nor this particular time frame in which the movie takes place. The girl can't exactly ask the guy outright "will you marry me".Geez.So that makes her a "Jealous woman"? wtf??

  • I wish I could watch this without subtitles, but unfortunately I would be lost. Such a great movie though

  • The whole "Yes, I'm in love!" part reminds me of a disney movie.. -.-

  • @GoingBerzerkeley Oh my god you're right. O.O

  • This is my favourite film's part! I love this song...but not Elisabeth.

  • the english part was sang by an indian women

  • @mus1im1ove How do you know that?

  • @kaliyuta my mom use to listen to it when she was little. Also theres this show that plays the music and tells you who sang what parts, its an indian show :P

  • I loved all of it even the english part

  • love this movie!!

  • Elizabeth fucked up the song =...=

  • like this song

  • dam! its just a movie and she is the biggest reason they won the game, there is no need to say that. if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it

  • @funniYuki1 LMFAO, very funny.. but SO TRUE! Though it's the script's fault.. not Elizabeth's.. LMAO. They should've cut the whole "white girl" part out, but then the movie's plot would suffer, so what are we to do!

  • they are soo cute together im watching this movie in my english 11 class but it was taking so long and we probably won't finish it since it is almost the end of the semester so i will just finish it on here!

  • Elizabeth: Yes I'm in love!! :D

    me: tough shit :)

  • Oh I love the songs in this movie.

  • lol@ scorpion sting,eeek that's me..handsome man,love these movies!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • I agree the english part in the middle of the hindi is annoying, but mostly because the lyrics are terrible and the soprano vs falsetto female is irking. LOL but still a great song!

  • hey i love the english girl part!

  • Aww this song is so sweet =)

  • I love this scene when Bhuvan and Gauri admit their feelings for each other - so romantic and sweet.

  • uuugghh that stupid white lady always bugged me

  • @luvmiley95 Stupid white lady? There was nothing wrong with her character in the movie besides her continuing story being she went home broken hearted and never married. British lady in noble family not marrying? Won't happen Bollywood, sorry.

  • This is called fusion of english and hindi! interesting concept- u dun get many with eng and hindi fusion-but i guess after this there are quite a number like jai ho and so on.

  • i saw this movie when i was like 11, and i always hated the white girl's part

  • does anyone think that they are the cutest couple? and that elizabeth chick needs to lay off!!! :D

  • @PeaceLuvMe17 This is called fusion of english and hindi! interesting concept- u dun get many with eng and hindi fusion-but i guess after this there are quite a number like jai ho and so on. so stop acting like a small kid. and grow up

  • @jedikumar84 umm it's called kidding? dude you need to chill

  • the subtitles crack me up XD "oh you lovely lassie!" lol

  • this is a vry nice song.....but i kinda think the english part messes it up...i dnt think it fits in the song....especially the voice...but thts jus my opinion

  • @rmbecks2

ya,i agree..i mean it si nice, but in this song it just does not fit....although i love the song very much

  • @rmbecks2 u r so right i hate it! i mean it's nice but i dont like 2 much english in hindi songs

  • @rmbecks2 i agree with you, i usually skip forward, really weird sounding...to say the least.

  • @ChaiTea100 Yaa.. Samee here... I sometimess skip the part but then, i get to tired to skip to.. Lol... I jus probably mute my computer and then unmute it.. Lol

  • "Laddie" and "lassie" are on the DVD subtitles also...it's not an exact translation, in Hindi "chori" and "chore" are slang for "girl" and "guy/dude," but those words don't quite catch the character of the song.

  • what does Mai mean in hindi?

  • @vmp98765 I..he's saying.."and I like you also"

  • @vmp98765

    Mother

  • im not saying i like it.. but i dont hate it. even with the subtitles i still cant say i understand whats going on. the voices are creepy. dont be mad. im just saying to me. its like opera on... something else that would get you mad. eh. just saying.

  • i lyk Rachel Shelley who iz from Swindon England. She iz so nice coz her hair style luk lyk Moonz. RED-ROSE_MOONZ diz songz iz 4 u azizam

  • laddie? lassie? whoever translated for these subtitles is using a really archaic dictionary of English... irregardless, its a great song.

  • @pureindian407 Noting that "irregardless" is not in fact, a real word. and yes. i am the spell check police. lol.. calm down in kidding... about being the police. but its still not a real word.
