I know they're not just playing the album recording over this because Chad does things with his voice to let you know its live - he clears it up every now and then, then goes back to its raspy quality, etc, but they still could have just re-recorded it elsewhere, then played it over this. Is that how it was done? I hope not. I had faith that Nickelback was an honest, truly good live band.

I just find it annoying that even though they ARE so good, they still insist on not singing LIVE live. They have to record themselves live, then play it over themselves. I know they have to save their voices and I'm a singer too so I know how tired your voice can get, but if that's the reason then they should take their songs a few keys lower. Oh well.

Though it may not be noticeable to the average listener, any semi-experienced audio engineer would be able to notice it. I'm so tired of hearing talented vocalists getting autotuned. The human voice is not robotic or perfect. It is to be heard as is.

I'm a professional musician but I mostly perform classical, at least in front of large audiences - I do contemporary and all but any audio engineering is not in my budget haha so it's all legitimate when I perform anything, so I no absolutely nothing about audio engineering.

I agree, the human voice should be heard and appreciated, imperfections and all. This part of modern music is so unartistic - if a computer is fixing pitch, it's not human art.

When it is used in an application like this, touching up a live performance... you're not supposed to be able to notice. It's not going to sound like T-pain. And these guys really do sing well, which was my point; they don't need it. I noticed because every note they sang, and particularly the backing harmonies, were spot perfect which even at their best isn't realistic for a live performance
