  • Bing is Is the default search engine on my phone and it is horrible. First of all it only returns 2 search results on the first page. This totally and completely unacceptable. Also the last 3 times in a row when I searched for something on Bing it was not returned on the first 2 pages. So I went to Google's mobile site and using the same search parameters the pages that I wanted were the fist pages returned by the search.

Bottom Line: Bing is a terrible search engine and is utterly useless.

Also love the one with the Marrid Couple like machines who start singing ' go on now go, walk out the door, just turn around cause your not welcome anymore' hahaha :D

  • @Barkermush Do you like Moustaches?

  • @TazG2000 The ad is talking about the travel feature. It includes price prediction for plane tickets.

  • @mackenziepricee So does Google, but it doesn't clutter your screen with a bunch of crap that either a) can be found by clicking the top search result anyway, or b) you weren't searching for to begin with. Click "more" at the top of Google, then "even more", then go to "Web search features". The point is, the theme of all these commercials is that Bing offers quality over quantity, but the slightest scrutiny proves that the opposite is true.

  • @TazG2000 Seen Googles new layout yet? Calling Bing cluttered is a bit rich. By the way, still was not able to find a flight price prediction tool.

  • @mackenziepricee What new layout? The only negative change they have made recently is that stupid Twitter feed that shows up sometimes.

  • @TazG2000 Oh so you have not seen it? It has a large sidebar, just link Bing. Will be rolling out sometime during this year.

  • @mackenziepricee "Just like Bing", eh? So have you changed your stance on Bing, then? If you're saying Google's (alleged) new Bing-esque layout is cluttered, you must also be agreeing that Bing's layout was cluttered to begin with. You can't have it both ways.

  • @TazG2000 No, Out of context.

I said that if you think Bing is 'clutered' wait till you see Google because it is almost identical.

  • @TazG2000 By the way, Flight Price Prediciton? You still can not provide me with that can you? A service Google does not have. Stop avoiding it.

  • @mackenziepricee No, actually, you're the one avoiding the main point, which I reminded you of a few posts down. To repeat:

"The point is, the theme of all these commercials is that Bing offers quality over quantity, but the slightest scrutiny proves that the opposite is true."

I was talking about search engines, not airplanes. You brought up a complete non-sequitur in response to something I posted 3 months ago. Bravo.

  • @TazG2000 Thats certainly rich stuff coming from you.

  • @mackenziepricee Again I direct you to my first reply (beginning with "So does Google"). It answered all of your questions from the start, but you have done nothing but avoid those answers ever since. In fact, you immediately changed the subject to Google's "new layout" which doesn't even exist yet and you barely deviated from that subject. It's laughable that you would accuse me of avoiding.

  • @TazG2000 Google flight prediction? You said Google had it? It doesnt. I dont get your deal. Are you 12 years old or something?

  • @mackenziepricee Comments like that only serve to make you look juvenile yourself. Please look at the post I have directed you to twice already. This time, try reading the whole thing instead of just the first sentence.

  • can someone please upload the resturant one with the clutch bag? its hilarious XDXD

  • is bing for people who can't use search engines or something? seriously nothing is easier than finding plane tickets to hawaii. just google 'hawaii flights' or 'hawaii tickets'.

  • 'who's waiting?' clever commercials!

  • @emma473 ikr!!!!!!! hahah

  • @emma473 That's my favorite part. She closes that book and is like, Who's waiting.?!,

  • I hate the search engine but I love the commercials. x.x

  • What i like about Bing is the picture they put everyday =] , but Bing has one thing when you search for pictures it shows a lot of them which takes time to load. When i search Google for pictures i like the way it loads fast. It's just my opinion.

  • I like what Microsoft is trying to do here; "decision engine". But I hate these commercials. They make information sound like a burden.

Personally, I like having as much information is I can (studies show having more information helps decision-making). Perhaps Bing means to help make a better decision whilst providing less information, but I don't like the idea of 'reducing' the amount of information as if we're idiots who can't handle information.

I love the Search Overload Syndrome.

  • @VaguelyRapt it's not providing less information; it's consolidating all information, so instead of getting a whole bunch of senseless blue links, you get information that's smartly organized and offers you suggestions for related information

  • That is true hehhe, but for many students.. who procastinate tend to do thir searching least minute hehe :) and they want the most specific info they can get lol :O

  • bing! Thanks for posting, as this is my favorite one of the commercials. I sort of understand what the 'inventors' are trying to say about the 'over load' with info syndrome, but loved the commercial just the same. Thanks and Hawaii Five-O to you too.

  • talk with live singles, they're waiting -Guy

    Who's waiting?! -Angry Wife

    LOL, thats great

  • Just for fun, I tried each and every one of the searches from the "search overload" commercials on a website that gives you the search results from Bing, Google, and Yahoo side by side, without revealing which is which. The site then allows you to vote for whichever search engine gave the most relevant results. After voting, it reveals which results were from which website. Google won most of the time. Bing didn't win once.

  • hahaaa i love it when the wife asks whos waiting. the look on her face :D.

  • @TazG2000 now google has about 120 mill. so they probably started lowering it since theyve seen this ad, hypocrites!

  • kkkkhaleddddd:

First of all, Microsoft is the one claiming they are the "cure" for the thing they themselves are most guilty for. You obviously have no idea what "hypocrite" means.

Second, you're wrong. I still get the same amount. You get different results on Google depending on your location, settings, and previous activity. It's just another feature that has made it superior for years that everyone takes for granted. So congratulations shooting yourself in the foot with that one.

  • @TazG2000 hmm actually i have the same results for bing as u have shown. doesnt this mean that people get the same equal results no matter where they are? isnt this better?

and actually to me at least i find that bing overloads less than google, but thats from my own experience

  • kkkkhaledddd:

Why is it better? Google gives you results that you are most likely to be searching for based on what it knows.

The fact that the number of results for a popular search term on Bing hasn't changed at all in the three weeks since I posted that just goes to show how primitive it is as a tool for something as dynamic as the web. Google has been improving its search algorithms and usability and adding features for decades. Bing is still in the dark ages.

  • you should admit that both give the user the same thing they want. neither u or i will search for the 141st or the 151st millionth search result. the only difference in my opinion is that bing is more innovative in the services, style and interface they offer, and i would rather support a business like this than a huge monster one like google.

its like google but in a more fancy colourful way

  • kkkkhaledddd:

You're missing the point. Read my original comment again. The whole point of this ad campaign is to blame Google for a specific problem - a problem that Bing has an even worse case of.

kkkkhaledddd wrote: "i would rather support a business like this than a huge monster one like google."

Wow, I'm speechless. Do you know which company is behind Bing?

  • @TazG2000

is this from ur own experience then? i myself have been finding very limited search overload

and yeh theyre both in fact huge and evil haha

  • kkkkhaledddd:

Yes it's from experience. I have tested it many times and Google is always more useful and accessible. It's also common sense. Google has specialized in search technology for 15 years. This is just yet another case of Microsoft entering a market they have no specialty in, calling their substandard ripoffs "innovation", then relying on hype and invasive self-promotion. On the other hand Google earned its position through technological superiority, no ad campaigns or flashy garbage.

  • So in your opinion the Zune would be a rip off of the iPod, but yet when Apple release a tablet on the 27th that PC's have had for 10 years it will be a brand new technology? Stop being bias.

  • mackenziepricee:

Nobody mentioned Apple. Try responding to what is actually being said rather than to the words you put in people's mouths.

  • It was an example.

  • Why?

Breaking up your results in to sections and ranking them by what matches your search term the most?

I am sure that is a better way of doing that then sending the most clicked to the top.

  • mackenziepricee:

It's not the "most clicked". Google's algorithm is far smarter than you obviously give it credit for. And Bing doesn't "break up" results, it just clutters up the page with things you specifically were not searching for.

If you want to see a search engine that ACTUALLY does what Bing pathetically claims to do, go to clusty[dot]com.

  • Go to Bing and search Lakers.

Also I prefer my results not to be numbered.

  • mackenziepricee:

Thank you for helping me prove my point.

Search "lakers" on Clusty. As you can see it implements the idea in a way that is actually useful, and more advanced. Note the expanding categories as well. And this has existed for years already.

  • @TazG2000 It gives me a preview of the whole site, thus I better off opening it in a tab. Apparently it thinks I meant lakes. It also is telling me on a search for Lakers that Haiti's homeless Need Tents.

  • mackenziepricee:

There is absolutely no reason bringing the quality of clusty's results into this, I know they are usually worse than both Bing and Google. The only reason I mentioned it was to show you how it does clustering. As for results, Google is the obvious winner. Anyone can see that for themselves, so you're wasting time playing devil's advocate here. The least Microsoft could have done was choose search terms that Bing actually does perform better with for their commercials.

  • @TazG2000 Plane Ticket?

You have Bing Travel for that. Not sure what it does? It will tell you the best time to buy your tickets and predicts future prices.

    Perform better?

    Lol.

  • mackenziepricee:

I'm sorry, what? Who said anything about tickets? This is the second or third time you have diverted the subject from plain facts which are unfavorable to Bing. If I didn't know better I'd think you were a PR agent.

At least do your homework. Go to the top of Google, click "more", then "even more", then "Web Search Features".

Judging by your ignorance, you've never even used Google in the past for anything you claim Bing is better at. Your vacuous retorts are getting tiring.

  • @TazG2000

    Holidays.

    Plane Tickets.

    Quiet relevant.

  • mackenziepricee:

Just because it was related doesn't mean it was relevant. It was another diversionary tactic to avoid acknowledging the points which dispute your opinion, like you did again just now. It's perfectly obvious to anyone who might be reading our exchange, which I see no reason to continue.

  • Now look at Google's suggestions for "lakers". Google reduces clutter by only showing you what you actually searched for, while still giving you quick access to related searches.

Then look at the search results. Notice the instant access to data on recent games. Notice the higher volume of redundant or less relevant results on Bing.

This is all in plain sight. I don't understand why you're still here trying to defy the obvious.

  • bing stands for because its not google

  • I love GOOGLING with bing.

  • LOL!

  • BING stands for Because Its Not Google

  • we"ll waiting :]

  • @mystic0276 it's "they're waiting"

  • I love the wife,

    Who's waiting?

  • Hahaha!

His smile after he said "They're waiting" was PRICELESS.

  • They're waiting :)

  • does anyone know the difference between "they're" and "there?" just sayin.

  • @acd111 "They're" is a contraction for "They are." "There" is an adverb used to show location.

  • lol there waiting

    Whos waiting

  • hey bing is like automatic transmission in car

you have almost everything in first page about your keywords and there;s a lot of benefits of useing bing, but to compare google is like manual transmission car you need to manualy search lie deep forum key word and stuff like that anyway

What transmission you will chose ?

I think that manual have better acceleration :D

  • LOL I like your analogy. You made me smile today. :))

  • is bing really that different from google? just type in "hawaii" on bing...

  • *edit: and compare it to google's results. i see more irrelevant ads on bing!

  • WHOS WAITING?!?!

  • WHOS WAITING?!?!

  • "talk live with ht singles in your area, there waiting!"

    "Whos waiting?!?!"

    hahahaha!

    thats soooo funny!

  • hahahhahah omg

    lol

  • You had the hard work Antoine...great job! Many Blessing to you!

  • Mikki Val! it was an honor to work with you also!!! You carried us, sister!!! Hope you are well and blessings! Antoine

  • brah i was so stoked when i saw this commercial LOL

  • I don't usually do this but I just wanted to thank all of you for your funny and sometimes hilarious comments! It was an absolute joy working with such a talented Actor as my husband and an incredible Director! Thanks again for making me laugh with your comments! Mikki Val

  • Hah the end is soo funny!

  • What is the point of BING? Why can't Microsoft just focus on making an operating system that actually works?

  • Ya, but seems even making operating systems that actually work is an unattainable goal for Microsoft. So at least they are trying to keep afloat by experimenting with new ideas. I heard they are working on the Zune Phone too?

They slashed 2000 jobs last month they cant seem to do anything right. I route for MS to do better as a business because others heavily rely on their brand of products. Seems that's all I can do. At least MS excel and Word works on my Mac.

  • I love the end. Lol.

  • Comment removed

  • hmm, never tried it but any search enguine that tries to "think" for you sounds band to start with

  • haha best commercail ever! i looooove this!<3

  • my favorite commercial

    Their waiting lol

  • These commercials are pretty clever, but having actually tried Bing, I can honestly say it's almost worse than Yahoo. Almost.

"Surf lingo: Bra, I was stoked when I caught that tasty barrel."

    "Who's waiting???"
