there is no such thing as a pro in poker. Yes, there is some skill involved, but the luck and chance part of the equation out-weighs any skill you could ever have....thats why you see the top pro's get eliminated in these tournaments earlier every year

Thats like for me when I folded King 8 Offsuit and the flop turned up running 8's. I was living when I folded the King 8 when I would of had Quad 8s. Person bidded 30,000 before the flop so I had to fold it or risk All-In when the other person had pocket Aces.
Look, it's a bad beat, and there is no way he can put his guy on J-7. I watched this live. Corkins bet the flop, and Phil called. Once the 7 hit, Hoyt checked, Phil bet, and this time Hoyt called. Hoyt is a gambling player, not a donk. Hoyt felt he was trailing to overcards on the flop, and perhaps felt he could steal it from Phil. He called on the turn with his pair despite Phil's bet, as Hoyt could represent 10-8 and the winning straight with a call.
Give credit to Hoyt for not rubbing it in Phil's face after he won. Whatever you think of Hoyt, he is a class act.
For all those Hoyt haters, maybe you should play him heads up. He isn't too difficult to find. I am sure he will be very accommodating. Let us know how you do.

Right, a min-raise on the river is pretty much never a bluff. But at the same time, if you try to outsmart the other guy by saying, "he only min-raised, he must want a call, so I'm going to fold," you set yourself up to get bluffed later on. Plus he really can't put Hoyt on running 7's helping him. Basically, if he thinks there's a 1 in 5 chance that Hoyt is bluffing him, or value-betting a worse hand even, he has to call.

it was blind vs blind limp pot, hoyt tried to steal on the flop it went check check onthe turn, then he hit the 3rd 7 on the river. there was no preflop raise.

I can never forget the donkey that called my check-raise on the turn and $700 river bet on an $1100 pot with 7-7.
The board was 2-Q-10-8, I had A2 with a flush draw. I check-raise him big on the turn. Call. River is an 8 and I FIRE big. $700. He goes "Tens full of Eights?" ... [pondering] ... "okay, here you go. Gift". SEVENS !

Are you an idiot? I was behind? Do me a favor and look up the odds of a pair + flush draw on the flop. That's 14 outs = approx. 56%. His 7-7 wasn't any better than bottom pair on 2-Q-10. Call, call, call. Liks I'm playing against a druggy who just can't let go of his substances.
He knew he was beat on the river, I played it like I had him beat. And if he's really confident about it, why not just be like "Call! Gotcha!". Telling me "Gift" to rub it in, like if I had anything, I'd get paid.

Thats like for me when I folded King 8 Offsuit and the flop turned up running 8's. I was living when I folded the King 8 when I would of had Quad 8s. Person bidded 30,000 before the flop so I had to fold it or risk All-In when the other person had pocket Aces.

Look, it's a bad beat, and there is no way he can put his guy on J-7. I watched this live. Corkins bet the flop, and Phil called. Once the 7 hit, Hoyt checked, Phil bet, and this time Hoyt called. Hoyt is a gambling player, not a donk. Hoyt felt he was trailing to overcards on the flop, and perhaps felt he could steal it from Phil. He called on the turn with his pair despite Phil's bet, as Hoyt could represent 10-8 and the winning straight with a call.

This bad beat is completely Phil's fault. From :09-:22 look at the way Hoyt looks at his cards, the way he puts his chips in and the way he leans into the table. He looks totally confident and in command. His posture is "I own you Phil" and that's a tell Phil should have picked up on. Phil was playing the cards and not the man.

Right, a min-raise on the river is pretty much never a bluff. But at the same time, if you try to outsmart the other guy by saying, "he only min-raised, he must want a call, so I'm going to fold," you set yourself up to get bluffed later on. Plus he really can't put Hoyt on running 7's helping him. Basically, if he thinks there's a 1 in 5 chance that Hoyt is bluffing him, or value-betting a worse hand even, he has to call.
