  • I feel stupid. Thanks for the sheets!

  • Keeper1st, I would love to learn this song. Where can I find the sheet music for it. Thanks.

  • @RoadRunnerll7 In the description as usual.

  • すげええええええなんでw

  • I'm gonna break the replay button. >:3

  • OH THAT'S CUTE

  • It would be so awesome if you got Tom to play K.K. Jazz!! I don't know how often he delves into jazz, but I'm sure he can, especially with the insurmountable amount of talent he has!!

  • This is awesome, and also this video made me realize why yamulkes were invented

  • Oh this reminds me of Moe :3

  • Does Tom Brier sell CD's with Ragtime songs on it ? I would like to buy one. I really like his songs and the way he plays them.

  • @killingfrenzy1993 His most recent two albums are available online from CDBaby. "Rewind" is a collection of extremely rare, never-before recorded ragtime. "Blue Sahara" is a collection of recent Brier originals. Search his name on CDBaby and you'll find those as well as some duet albums he did with Nan Bostick (I recommend "Dualing at the McCoys").

  • @Keeper1st thx, gonna search it up as soon as possible

  • Needs a K.K. Slider "hoh"

  • @pseudotasuki In a later video I shot of the Raspberry Jam Band playing this, I did add a bit of K.K. voice at the beginning for fun... You should see it on the Related Videos list. Look for a thumbnail of a woman in a pink hat playing a violin.

  • I want to hear him play korobeiniki. tetris a song.

  • @DocSicnarf Actually that's a 150-year-old Russian folk song. It just happens to have been used in Tetris also.

  • I like the left hand at 0:22!

  • Welp. That was awesome.

  • may I suggest the shop music from Earthbound, these versions are great.

  • @capmodesty Already did. See v=7B0UGq1Cu3g

  • He is amazing! I play the piano but not as well has him! How long has he been playing?

  • @jmnevinjr At the time of this video, about 31 years. He started when he was 5.

  • this is really really good!

  • very well done.

but i can't belive this is the first time he plays this song

  • @michael18152 I have posted a video response showing how he played the song a few months later, after learning it. I have a lot of videos of him sight-reading even more complicated stuff than this.

  • going ol'school !!!!!!!!!!!!! yipeeeeee!

  • I just imagined Brewster singing the bass-parts!^^

  • impressive

  • This guy rocks! This video should be in the millions of views. Your amazing.

  • @RoadRunnerll7 But of course people would rather see a 15 year old without a life running around than phenominal piano playing...

  • @SmashBroGameAndWatch i try very hard at running :(

  • @Cheesewizard07 I'm referring to Fred, but whatever.

  • I very like it when people play the music from games but music that not from a game is and comes in a game it´s much better!!!

  • black people, black people do dee doot ee do black people

  • Well, I'll be. Making someone play a videogame song without having played it.

    Epic win.

  • whoo! rock it up!

  • @TheGlowsocks Ah, if you want to hear him "rock it up", watch the video response I added of him playing it a few months later "in full ragtime" as the title suggests.

  • 勢いが良くてとても気に入りました。

I like this playstyle. Thank you this movie!

  • How many years of practice does it take to be that good at sight-reading?

  • @TNTtankFTW At the time of this video, just over 30 years...

  • @Keeper1st I have a lllooooonnnngg way to go lol

  • I would say 30 years and some "natural" skills...because i'v played for 11 years..And i'm not gona be that good/fast sheet reader ever..!!

  • @r4nd0mi1 Indeed. It should be 30 years with the requirement that one starts at a very young age as Tom did. If you didn't learn it in your formative years, then you're most likely doomed like the rest of us to stand in awe.

  • do u ever tell him what the songs are from?

  • @akatsukifan01 Of course. It's written right on the sheet music.

  • i want to hear chun li's theme :3

  • Comment removed

  • This seriously makes me want to learn piano

  • @uglifroot You really should it's so much fun! That's why i WILL be able to sight read like this when I'm older :)

  • Cool... I have added the video and a small comment at the Norwegian Facebook group "God Musikk" (means "Good Music" in English).

"God Musikk" is written in Norwegian, but you can anyway look it up and become a member and promote music YOU like and write about your own music or music you really enjoy... And you know what? Maybe you get fans for life also in Norway where people BUY a lot of music!

  • すげーーーーー

  • Keeper are you a piano teacher by any chance?

  • @NoLifeGamer17 No. I'm pretty pitiful at the keyboard, actually.

  • thx a lot for the sheet! :)

  • HOOOOW CAN HE SIGHT READ THIS SO FAST. I want to cry. lmfao

  • @sstrunks5555 If you want to see him sight-reading something fast, check the first of the two videos of him playing "Tuxedo Vegas". That one was so good, I prefaced the video title with "Incredible piano sight-reading"!

  • @sstrunks5555 how the fuck can he sight read that.... fuck

  • @bce5150 i know. makes me sad. haha.

  • 聞いてて滅茶楽しい!!!!

    気付けば体が勝手にリズムに合わせてのってた・・・

  • Awsome He is good at piano I can't even read Piano sheet music or play one

  • omg memories xD i used to play this song on piano when i was 12 yrs old, i loved animal crossing SO MUCH and this was always my fav song in it<3 but anyway this is like 1000 times better version than mine lol xd great job!

  • I've favouried this video for nearly two years, and I would just like to say I can't wait until it reaches 100,000 views. Also, NO THUMBS DOWN! That's great, seeing most videos have at least a few,

  • いつ聴いても、

    ピアノ上手すぎます!

    本当に尊敬します

  • could he play K.K. Country? :D

  • If I transcribed it, perhaps he could (not that I'm likely to do so). He does like country music...

  • Tom you just won the awesome prize! :D

    "Oh THAT'S CUTE!" win

  • OOaaaayaaa.. really awsome.

  • holy shit! 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...H...Holy shit.... I'm sitting here, totally speechless in my room after watching this, I mean CRAP, that was totally AMAZING :D

  • I am speechless with admiration for this performance.

  • It 's a great performance. Thank you. I bought your CD.

  • man thats execellent for ur first time ever seeing or hearing the song good Job !!!!!!!

  • This guy is awesome! The end! lol.

I love almost every song in that game! lol.

  • Is this Tom's favourite game-theme he has played?

  • Considering that I've heard him twice break into this one spontaneously since, my guess is yes.

  • ^^ oh no...yoshis island has to be his favorite game-theme hehe...

Did Tom already play Songs of the Mario 64 game?

  • tell Tom he did a wonderful job with this song. It was a previledge to watch it. Thanks

  • Sadly, it seems the sheet music link is down.

  • Yeah, the server has been gone for a few days. They do that sometimes. Soon I hope to migrate to another site.

  • @jamesmarshallhendrix By the way, I have migrated to a new site and updated the sheet music links.

  • Is Tom making it more complicated than the sheet music? Because he's doing chords instead of the single notes, like the beginning. If he is, I congratulate you and Tom for arranging and playing this piece.

  • Yes, Tom has an amazing ability to embellish upon a tune even as he is looking at it for the first time. The best example of this is in a video I have of him sight-reading the Birabuto Kingdom theme which is arranged in only three voices but he builds and builds upon it into an astonishing arrangement. I actually asked him to play that one straight the first time and them build up on it, so it could have been even more remarkable had I just let him cut loose from the get-go.

  • I have seen that before, but there are some slight differences. 1. He has seen the Birabuto Kingdom sheet music before (I know that it was the first time he played it, but not the first time he's seen it) and 2. He didn't improvise until he actually had gone through the sheet music note by note. Also, I have a suggestion on what Tom Brier would like to play. It's on your profile comment section.

  • k.k. slider rocks

  • WOW awesome...and the first time seeing the notes... UBER impressive!!

  • i love that word...uber...great job by the way to...ive been playing piano for about a year and that takes skill

  • holy crap that was awesome! There is no way I could sight read something that well!!!

  • This was my favortie K.K. song!

  • excellent for your your your first time !

  • That's awesome!

  • WOW!

  • "Oh, that's CUTE!" :3 Yes, yes it is.

  • Haploid: Do it better yourself, then complain! :-P

Hell yeah, Keeper, I got an idea for another sightread session: The legendary Pokemon Emmerald Trick House!!

Here on Youtube only this full version is available:

"trick house on mario paint composer"

    Would be a great thing!!

  • good job!

  • This sort of comment just shows that Tom is the literal definition of "unbelievable". There are plenty of other videos of Tom sight-reading (not all posted by me), and in some of them you can see/hear him get lost on the page or stop and wonder, "Is that right?"

He really is this good. Follow the response I posted to hear what this tune sounds like now that he actually knows it.

Then look up "The Amazing Hands of Tom Brier" to see what he's really capable of when playing something he wrote!

  • some people are seriously good enough to just sight read literally anything. My old music teach could do it to an extent.

  • "Oh that's CUTE" XD

  • I think he plays more notes with his right hand, than there are in the score you have in the URL in description?

  • Left hand too. Like any good ragtime musician, Tom doesn't play music as written -- even when reading it for the first time. Check the video of him playing the Birabuto Kingdom theme for a good example. I did ask him to play it straight the first time through, but then he plays it his own way. The folios of his own compositions even bear the instruction, "Do not play these as written."

  • Holy ****! As I said when I saw him the first time: he IS a genius!

  • Holy flipping Jesus

I just fcking pissed my pants... rofl

    hes soo good lolz

  • "Oh that's CUTE!" haha that's great :)

  • I really like this song.

Perhaps there are other pieces from Animal Crossing you could try?

  • I have transcribed a couple others.

  • This piano is wonderful... When was it built? And of which company is?

  • That's an Everett piano if I remember right. I'm not sure when it was built, but it's probably since Everett became part of Yamaha, since many pianos at the festival are provided by a Yamaha dealer.

  • who knew ragtime was this good?

  • Those of us who attend the ragtime festivals, compose new ragtime and generally keep the music alive... A sadly dwindling number that I hope these videos will help to turn around!

  • cool..yea...the numbers are dwindling....

    alot

  • well done .. i like this song :D

  • Very nice

  • Sounds like something you would here played @ a saloon in an old western film.

  • ...if the director had no clue what music was really played in western saloons (which many Western movie directors didn't!).

  • Yeah, it's funny to think that saloon piano players would limit themselves to a very narrow style of music.

  • ...or play a style of music that hadn't been invented yet.

  • This is the singlemost coolest video on youtube.....

  • failed grammar you was

  • It's first sight reading O____O OMG!!!!

  • wow he plays piano really nice!!! i want to play piano as he does! But im the worsest playing piano ... :(

    haha

  • worst.

  • lol OH THATS CUTE! theres proof he never heard of it before owned

  • Whoa...

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHW!! I want to play the piano like that!!

  • Don't we all...

It's easy, really: Just start when you're four years old and sight-read every day for 32 years...!

  • oh, it's true!! Why didn' t I never thinked that? It's so easy!

  • If you really want to see Tom going at full blast, do a search on "The Amazing Hands of Tom Brier" or "Redneck Rag" or "Blue Lampshade"...

  • Oh that's cute HEHE

    :D

    awesome playing

  • .......wow.........THIS IS SOOOOOOO AWESOME! even though i can play the piano, i can never play it like that.

  • if i could sight read like that, i would never play video games or watch tv.

i'd just play my favorite theme songs all day.

  • sorry sily question!

  • Is there any posibility that you send me the score of this music? Thank you very much. Im a professor. Id like to teach it for my students. Thatnks a lot.

  • wonderful!!

  • WOW! Unbelievable...it would take me at least 10 years to learn this!

  • ownage video

  • damn, i wish i could sight read like that.

  • スゲwwww

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i cant read sheet music but i play by ear :)

  • great playing guy. I cna play too but not that good can you get me that sheet music somehow

  • Check the description of the video...

  • "oh that's cute!" was the same thing I thought the first time I heard the song

  • I also thought it was cute, its played in Bob's house!!

  • lol he inspired me to get Kiddy Furniture ToT

  • Yea cuase this music plays in Bob's house and his house is completly kiddie.

  • that piano almost sounds like a toy piano its cool

  • It's what's called a "studio piano". They have a very crisp tone.

  • GO KK!XD

  • wow this song is amazing i've been humming it for weeks! do do do do dodah

  • same!

    he rocks!

  • WOOOO GO GUY

  • haha, that's awesome. Kind of reminds me of the music teacher I had a couple years ago.

And I just want to note about your description. When you said, "own invention" I think you meant 'own arrangement,' lol.

  • I meant "inventions". They are my own inventions within my own arrangement, for the entire second half is my arrangement.

Last weekend, I captured video of a whole ragtime band playing this (piano, piccolo, slide whistle, violin, euphonium, tuba, washboard, gutbucket). Stay tuned; it will be posted in a few days!

  • lol i just saw this, then watched another 1 of toms vids and came back and now this is posted! oh and WOOOO can't wait till it's uploaded

  • I just posted the whole band playing this. It's posted as a response to the response to this video. So it's like a progression if you follow the trail from here: Sight-read on the piano, played from memory by piano and flute, and played by the whole band.

  • whoa...

  • This is my most favorite song in all of Animal Crossing, and he plays it amazingly. Thanks for the upload!

  • woot woot this rocks

  • Who is that man? *Curious*

  • He is a popular ragtime pianist in California. He is known for being very good at playing music on first sight (as he does here). I have many videos of him; enter "Tom Brier" in the YouTube search.

  • Nicee :) Talented dude!

  • haha this is so epic!

I love the "oy vey!" at that one part around 40 seconds!

  • he play this the first time?!?! O_o

    omg, i can't believe it!!!

  • I love this song! ever since I heard it on animal crossing.

  • you messed up a couple times... but other than that it was positive!!

  • You can't expect perfection when he's looking at the music for the first time -- particularly when it goes into E, which is a rather unusual key for ragtime. See the video response I posted to hear him playing it again with embellishment now that he has it memorized.

  • A i said other than those 2 mess ups it was good... Sheesh.... cut me some slack!

  • Sensitive much? I wasn't getting on your case; I'm just pointing out that you can hear a better version than this now.

  • lol im not sensitive... I just needed your explanation in english.. And i got it! but um... i dont think i like you now..

  • Ohh, so you would have liked me better if I actually WERE being mean. I see. You crazy kids and your new ideas!
