Gorgeous tone and exactly the right tempo for parts 1 & 3 (IMHO!). I thought part 2 too rushed and I personally don't like the embellishments in Part 3 (but this is a question of taste, of course). Whatever, BRAVO : I will listen often and I look forward to more of the dark purple voice of Dmitry :) Thank you so much.
@fourmy1060 Dear friend, I understand you very well what you mean and see you point:-). If I analize all the parts I could find imperfections too. In part 3 I hear that one note almost out of tune. I agree with PrimaRagazza:overall I also prefer Daniel Taylor's interpretation, but this one sounds somewhat fresh, different, and overall impression for me is magnificent!:-) I also look forward to hearing more of Dmitry Egorov. Actually, in Russian it's pronounced "Dmitriy Yegorov":-).
I still prefer Daniels .. in fact this makes me want to go and listen to that again. But i do like the rich, slightly more alto sounding timbre and emotive quality. Well who needs to pick one - there are so many beautiful renditions of this aria I couldn't get tired of listening to them all.
This is just a masterpiece. The singing is beautiful, fascinating and intriguing with its ornamentation and the exquisite images from the movie 'Farinelli' perfectly complement it. The scenes with the doves and the final picture of him closing his eyes are especially touching. Thank you Stephen!
Beautiful, full round alto voice with also an ethereal timbre like Scholl, White and a bit of Daniel Taylor who is otherwise is soprano-like! We are so lucky to have more and more true countertenors now with advanced technique giving us a glimpse of castrati heaven. I'm proud that Egorov is Russian and one of the best REAL countertenors, not just falsettists singing in flat voices in superficial pleasing manner:-)...
Absolutely maginificent! Bravo! Thanks Stephen for finding this recording and posting. Wonderful alto voice. Very interesting original embelishment in the 3d oart, absolutely different from any other versions which I appreciate very much. Can you hear some similarities in Egorov's timbre with Andreas Scholl and Matthew White?

A beautiful and technical performance - I especially love the restrained use of ornamentation in the da capo section.

@SutoSardoniczny Myślę, że Dmitrij głos musi brzmieć jak Nicolino siebie.
