Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.
@PsychoSymantic Um, no as a 3d modeler I like the depth of the 3d just not the story line or camera angles at all. I like the original plots best by far. I think you might be right.
they did copy kratos' chain swords radius combos, and some bosses in this game have you beat them like shadow of the colossus, there are some similarities

I played the game for 24 years since 86' and this game pushed me to HATE KONAMI even more ,for their stupid ideas, and the game have NO music for the old games, and the game is more of greek, and as a HUGE HUGE KONAMI fan ? I hate u Konami, i called my old car Konami with a sticker, now i took it off, what i put is the OLD waved logo konami, as a memory of the good ol konami. This game SUCKS as a castlevania But a kool graphics and epic music as a DIFFRENT game.

i remember when i saw SOTN time played and it had 60 hours... with this new attempt of hackn'slash comming from castlevania, this game has 10 hours of life :S
@Keyslayer This game is supposed to have 20-25 hours of play. If you played SotN for 60 hours, it was because you were grinding enemies to get rare drops..........not because the game takes that long to complete. I completed SotN in just 6 hours once, and I wasn't exactly pushing the pedal to the metal.
@razorfett147 i wasn't grinding, i was doing exploration, when you play a game is nice to look and seek, i don't think new castlevania has 20 to 25 or if you die constantly. I wish from the bottom of my heart that this game has some exploration, not only button smash and trigger happy
@Keyslayer It will have exploration. Mercurysteam has said that it was an important part of the Castlevania formula. And they've estimated it to have 20-25 hours of gameplay. I'm just relaying what I've read.
People say say rip=off are narrowminded. Look around you every first person shooter game give you a HUD and a gun. It tell you to shoot people. If you call this a rip-off then EVERY first person shooter games are rip-off from Doom. All the RPG you play are rip off from Dungeons & Dragons. ETC the list are long....
I hope this times it works because the other Castlevania attempts failed. I do not like the main character of this game that much, I would rather had Simon with his whip but anyway, I am a Castlevania fan so I will give it a try. I just hope the game have an outstanding soundtrack and that it revives the series.

Action/Adventure is a vast genre including games such as uncharted, metal gear solid, mario galaxy etc. God of War was the first of its kind, and this game, very much so, is completely the same with gameplay, otherwise, it is brand-new. Although, he is out for vengence, so it is a full rip off of gow3, best game 2010.

@EcksPwnsAll Well.... God of War is actually a rip-off of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence even. It used the same style of gameplay. Castlevania is old though, and lot of the younger generation won't know especially the old school ones.

Also, since it doesn't actually build on the original time-line's story in anyway i don't think i'll buy it. However, it still bared little, if any, resemblance to god of war.

This game looks freaking amazing. I just hope they throw in some traditional castlevania bosses like dracula and frankenstein. But yeah, about time they make a decent 3-d castlevania.

Why does everyone keep calling this a copy of God of War? sure you're swinging a weapon around and your fighting monsters but that's in a lot of games! Plus Castlevania is more known for platforming than God of War, and God of War was never as exploratory as Castlevania is known for.
Let's get one thing straight, kids. Devil May Cry did this first, then was copied by Rygar, the two PS2 Castlevanias, God of War, Heavenly Sword, and countless others. Also, just because Castlevania was around longer doesn't mean the idea wasn't borrowed from a newer game, i.e. Devil May Cry. I don't recall Alucard throwing around X00-hit combos every other minute.

I dont like the spinning whip attack that Gabriel was doing in this trailer. It looks too God of War-ish. What i mean by this is that vampire hunters in Castlevania are supposed to fight in a coordinated and skillfull manner instead of agressively and brutishly like Kratos from God of War.
That move loked unsuitable for a Castlevania game.
I am also worried about them making this game casual oriented. Castlevania games are supposed to be hard.

All I care about with this, is that they get the ambiance from the previous Casltevania games into this one. I don't mind better game play mechanics, in fact, I welcome them, so long as they work and don't make the game feel unpolished or robotic. I actually think the new sense of realism and character depth they seem to be adding to this one will make the game feel more like a cinematic that you play through, like DMC games are. I just really hope they remember the ambiance and music....

There is just soo many games out there with the god of war gameplay, which is good only to an extent... but following the market which is in god of wars footsteps is just not going to last long... its the same shit with a different character
I have played and own the PS2 castlevanias, people said they were awful, but honestly I disagree they were great 3D transitioned games the controls seem GOW styled so im not surprised with this one, but the art direction is beautifully rendered just like any game like GOW or ninja gaiden so im pleased about this one.
I hated the PS2 games because I constantly got lost and didn't give a shit about what was going on. I absolutely loved the N64 Castlevania, even with all its problems.
I am with you man lol, although I never played any of the PS2 castlevania games, i loved the N64 ones! I got Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness when I was like 10 and played it all the time it was great, brings back memories.
I dunno what to think of this. I've never played a 3D Castlevania before so I'll give this a try. I hope its basicly Metroidvania style but just 3D. and I agree with TheEloeo, they should try a Shadow Complex 2.5 D style Castelvania.

first: it's in 240p. the game got epic graphics and then you see it in this *%"§.
second: those who do not have ps3s, and i'm sure there are some :) do not know about god of war. so this game stand pretty good on the X360 at least.

Why does everyone keep calling this a copy of God of War? sure you're swinging a weapon around and your fighting monsters but that's in a lot of games! Plus Castlevania is more known for platforming than God of War, and God of War was never as exploratory as Castlevania is known for.

Let's get one thing straight, kids. Devil May Cry did this first, then was copied by Rygar, the two PS2 Castlevanias, God of War, Heavenly Sword, and countless others. Also, just because Castlevania was around longer doesn't mean the idea wasn't borrowed from a newer game, i.e. Devil May Cry. I don't recall Alucard throwing around X00-hit combos every other minute.

I dont like the spinning whip attack that Gabriel was doing in this trailer. It looks too God of War-ish. What i mean by this is that vampire hunters in Castlevania are supposed to fight in a coordinated and skillfull manner instead of agressively and brutishly like Kratos from God of War.
That move loked unsuitable for a Castlevania game.
I am also worried about them making this game casual oriented. Castlevania games are supposed to be hard.

All I care about with this, is that they get the ambiance from the previous Casltevania games into this one. I don't mind better game play mechanics, in fact, I welcome them, so long as they work and don't make the game feel unpolished or robotic. I actually think the new sense of realism and character depth they seem to be adding to this one will make the game feel more like a cinematic that you play through, like DMC games are. I just really hope they remember the ambiance and music....

I liked it back when the Vampire Killer killed regular mooks with one or two hits. None of this 30+ hit combo chain business.
I also like heights to be dangerous, rather than just an inconvenient 100 foot fall that can be mitigated with magic boots and/or "familiars".

I have played and own the PS2 castlevanias, people said they were awful, but honestly I disagree they were great 3D transitioned games the controls seem GOW styled so im not surprised with this one, but the art direction is beautifully rendered just like any game like GOW or ninja gaiden so im pleased about this one.

I dunno what to think of this. I've never played a 3D Castlevania before so I'll give this a try. I hope its basicly Metroidvania style but just 3D. and I agree with TheEloeo, they should try a Shadow Complex 2.5 D style Castelvania.
