  • omg did KO really have to go for that reset?

w/e it was still a good match.

  • What's the meaning of reset?

  • what? no. resets are somewhat tricking the opponents in the middle of a combo to "reset" it and attack even more, and furthermore, doing more damage in the process by lessening the amount of damage scaling. a common example is resetting in the middle of a geneijin combo so the damage isn't scaled off, or seieienbu.

  • If that's true, won't "resetting" end the current "X hit combo" and start a new one?

  • yeah, and that's why it's called a reset.

  • and thats kind of the point...

  • to make these explanations more simple, normally when you combo someone in the air they will fall to the floor as normal. a reset is when you hit them which makes them land on their feet rather than on their back. this way you can continue some combos. consider when necro has you in the corner and does a throw, he often instantly does a mp which can hit you before you land on your back and make you land on your feet so a combo can continue or you can just surprise them by making them think more.

  • a reset, by definition, ends the combo. the opponent always has the opportunity to block or parry when you put them in a reset state; the only exception is Seraphic Wing or the first hit of Akuma's KKZ, which cannot be parried, and will hit whilst the opponent is still airborne after a jab reset.
