This song made me fall in love with Tom Waits. This song opened that doorway and showed me what a wonderful musician and songwriter he is. Just wish I'd discovered him sooner.

I was recently visiting a good friend of mine and I was showing her Tom Waits' music and this song played as soon as the moment where we gotten ourselves a bit too close that evening, We took it as a good sign and decided that we should just have what we have...but I doubt it'll stay like that, anything can change in an instant too soon, or too late, either way this song is a damn good savior for me that particular evening.

I've seen people fail miserably with NOT keeping quiet, too, having therefore lost love interest AND trusted friend at the same time, not being any kind of comfort of course, I know... @GuyFromSweden100 I'm in very much the same situation...with one major difference...we were drinking together last Friday night (a week ago tomorrow) and I finally seized the moment and told my friend what I had been hiding (and hiding FROM) for 12 years...I think she might have thought it was the drink talking so I'm just waiting now for a chance to tell her again without any drinks involved :/

For the good music pouring out of Waits' voice I have to hear the whiney teeny snob crap blaring from the other room. oh what a night
I first heard this song 10 years ago at one of those "listening stations" at a music store, back when there used to be music stores. I didn't buy the CD, didn't even write it down. I finally found it again just this minute, and I love it just as much as ever. Tom Waits is a true American original, however much what I just said sounds like a commercial for Dockers or something...
But 0,002 % haters, too... I hope no reason for - fear!
