first of all, wikipedia is a weak source. Secondly, Nolan himself said that he will most certainly NOT use Penguin or Catwoman, because he wants to use more villains that haven't been on screen before, and the Penguin is too difficult to make into a serious character.
This must be the role of Heath Ledger's life... It's a shame that it also became his last one =( I really, really hope that he gets an Oscar for this one.

God, this was a great movie. Heath completely stole the show. Every scene he was in I was completely mesmerized with his character, and every time he was gone, I was anxiously waiting for him to come back. Amazing movie, and a must see.

Heath is birlliant. He goes all the way, body movement, voice, he dissapears into his characters but i strongly believe that this role as the joker was not what caused him to leave us so young. he devoted himself completely to the role but it doesn't mean he didn't know who he was outside of shooting or it caused a depression. there were probably more important reasons in his life to have caused such a sad tragic accident.
Heath is the reason im doing acting at University. Even before he became a huge star he's always been an awesome actor. Always going that little bit further!

After the guy calls Joker a Freak, it was so cool and creepy when Heath mocked the word "Freeeeak" back at him at 16-17 seconds. This 30 second scene gave me chills and total excitement. I cannot wait until it comes out.
The sad thing was that he was too good at his role haha. like, honestly i am not making this up, when his friends were asked about his suicide they said that he couldnt get the joker out of his head so he took medication. he died because he overdosed, which i guess was intetional. i heard this from my mom & shes basically been on bed rest from surgery for the longest time & she like watches the news all the time.
Because that is all the media cares about. No one cares about the real story. They want to get it blown out of proportion, because they can't even let actors and actresses keep their good names in death.
he had sleep disorders, long before filming of batman began. it had nothing to do with getting the role stuck in his head. although I'm sure his thoughts at night tumbled about all of the media frenzy regarding the movie.. "did i do a good job" and so on..
Whatever. it didn't have anything to do with the role, in particular.. if anything, it might have been with the fact that it was going to be a huge blockbuster movie, and he would be at the center of attention of it.. otherwise, it's not as if the role of the joker "got into his head" and made him insane..
In the end there can never be a definitive Batman or Joker...in our world today, this story here has a shelf life of 4 to 5 years tops...before it has to be 're-invented', heath ledger...jack Nicholson are mere pebbles...as brilliant as jack is...he will be forgotten in 20 years...ask some one 20 today who Charlton Heston is and 7-10 times you'll draw a blank. Ledger may hit James Dean status but how sad is that at the end of the day?

I've seen some complaints about them showing too much of the movie already. Balderdash I say. These clips, especially this one, just make me want to watch the movie more. This movie is 2 and a half hours long, so there is a ton of stuff they haven't shown us. These are just the appetizers. The main course comes July 18th.

Heath is the reason im doing acting at University. Even before he became a huge star he's always been an awesome actor. Always going that little bit further!
I cant wait to see him in this role! He's not 'lost' in the character he is just so talented that he can pull of any role! Bring it on!!!!

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I notice in some movies, you can still see the real person, even if they're acting. Like Bale..I mean I see Bruce...but its still Bale. But Heath...I swear I can't even recognize him, he's so deeply into character it's scary. I can't WAIT for this to come out!! 3 days!

I agree with you. You CAN still see Bale through Bruce....But Heath Ledger so deeply immersed himself in his Joker role, he disappeared all together. THAT takes talent. And THAT is a real actor at work.

Wow, this movie is going to be so amazing. Heath Ledger is absolutly fantastic as the Joker. All the critics are saying he is brilliant, he better get an oscar. He deserves it.
After the guy calls Joker a Freak, it was so cool and creepy when Heath mocked the word "Freeeeak" back at him at 16-17 seconds. This 30 second scene gave me chills and total excitement. I cannot wait until it comes out.
Wow, is all I can say. Wow.

The sad thing was that he was too good at his role haha. like, honestly i am not making this up, when his friends were asked about his suicide they said that he couldnt get the joker out of his head so he took medication. he died because he overdosed, which i guess was intetional. i heard this from my mom & shes basically been on bed rest from surgery for the longest time & she like watches the news all the time.
He does deserve an oscar for his role though,

he had sleep disorders, long before filming of batman began. it had nothing to do with getting the role stuck in his head. although I'm sure his thoughts at night tumbled about all of the media frenzy regarding the movie.. "did i do a good job" and so on..

Whatever. it didn't have anything to do with the role, in particular.. if anything, it might have been with the fact that it was going to be a huge blockbuster movie, and he would be at the center of attention of it.. otherwise, it's not as if the role of the joker "got into his head" and made him insane..

In the end there can never be a definitive Batman or Joker...in our world today, this story here has a shelf life of 4 to 5 years tops...before it has to be 're-invented', heath ledger...jack Nicholson are mere pebbles...as brilliant as jack is...he will be forgotten in 20 years...ask some one 20 today who Charlton Heston is and 7-10 times you'll draw a blank. Ledger may hit James Dean status but how sad is that at the end of the day?

Heath Ledger is officially the best actor I've ever witnessed. What a fucking clip this is... can u not help but be astonished at how deep he transformed himself. Listen to how he fucking changed his voice... watch Heath on a talk show and then watch this clip its almost impossible that they're the same person!!! Best Actor Oscar for sure is going to him, if not it will be the biggest flop in Oscar history... RIP my dude...

i was thinking they were showing too much of this movie too since they show so much but if ones stops and things if its a 2 hour+ film and the joker is the main villain and the main plan he has isnt revealed it really isnt os much, in fact all the joker footage total is probably like 8 mins total if that, its just such brilliant viral marketing this movie will be AMAZING

BTW..I love how Ledger delivers the line "how loyal a hungry dog really is". The way he draws out "really" is intense and funny at the same time. Wow...Ledger nailed this.

I've seen some complaints about them showing too much of the movie already. Balderdash I say. These clips, especially this one, just make me want to watch the movie more. This movie is 2 and a half hours long, so there is a ton of stuff they haven't shown us. These are just the appetizers. The main course comes July 18th.
