  • YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND!

    PERFECT SONG

    02-25-12

  • Memoriess of a "Lost In Love"

  • ♥♥♥

  • So smooth and romantic...what a great lovely song! Bruno mats should take notes about how to write a love song that's pure like this.

  • Sam Cooke was an astonishing talent -- when I began to hear his work with the Soul Stirrers, I felt another singer altogether than who sang "You Send Me." That's a problem, because "You Send Me" is, of course, in a league of its own. Most of Sam's other pop hits feel watered-down -- still way ahead of most of American Bandstand, but I can almost hear the backstage arguments that stood in the way of matching his gospel records, or his superb supperclub album at the end.

  • @ptownfreddy You sound like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho talking about Phil Collins and Genesis.

  • 1 of the true greats.gone to early.say hello to otis

  • What a beautiful man in so many ways! You will live on in our heart!!!!!!!

  • ♡ 0:o) ♥

  • Happy Birthday brother Cooke, gone but never forgotten (RIP). "Your Always On My MInd" and in our hearts.

  • you're always on my mind and instilled in my heart:-)

  • Beautiful lyricist

  • This is so dreamy the lyrics-his voice so lovely-this one is rare!! Thank you so so much for sharing...

  • How can anybody not like this . Sam Cooke could have sung a shipping order and it would sound good

  • So fine and so smooth.

  • I am here for the voice AND the grammar.

  • is it: and stealin my heart or still in my heart?

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli instilled

  • tuuune

  • Every phrase was different from the last without fucking with the melody. bottom line, there will never be a better singer... ever!

  • Thumbs up if ya still listening in 2011 :O)

  • YOU'RE

  • one of the purest sounding of all time, the father of rock n soul.

  • The great Same Cooke; I thought I had a few of his songs, but somehow I missed this one! This is wonderful, no surprise there. Thank you so much for this post.

  • Can anyone explain to me the mystery involved in the voice and melody of Mr. Sam Cooke ? It is kind of soothing ! inspiring ! full of love !!

Even if I happen to be working IT MAKES ME MORE PRODUCTIVE !!!!!

NO HYPERBOLICS MY FRIENDS....THE PLAIN TRUTH !!! GOD BLESS HIM WHEREVER HE MAY BE .....DR. WILBUR WALKER, ATTORNEY AT LAW.....

  • "Sometimes I think Sam Cooke is the only atrtist that matters" can't remember who said that but whoever it was I know what he meant...

  • You're not your.

  • @humanist7117

That was my first thought. Can the title be changed by the poster to correct this?

  • @humanist7117 im here for the voice not the grammar!

  • @humanist7117 plz your funny. pale faces..

  • @humanist7117 Love Daniel*

  • Sam must have had women falling at his feet!!

  • Yes he did. That's why the "official" explanation of the circumstances of his death are so ridiculous. Why would a man who was adored by women everywhere and who had women throwing themselves at him have to rape one?

  • @Greedyreedyprods The woman ran out with his clothes and money while he was in the bathroom and when he went to the front desk, the woman, desk clerk, said he tried to attack her because he was mad so she shot him. It was a set up. I don't know if you read that his hands were smashed and his neck was dislocated from his shoulders. No little woman did that but she got off because he was a black man. It had to be setup from the beginning.

  • @retasueus well said

  • You + Are = You're... Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

  • A true classic takes me back so many years tears in my eyes!

  • For some reason even after playing some of these songs, Im just now discovering Sams awesome singing.

  • none dislike...that's y i luv him... :)

  • You're >(*U^)<

  • Soul music comes from Sam Cooke. He literally invents it. A true original.

  • @amd77j Either him or Ray Charles who invented it.

  • Wow!!!...can't believe I had never heard this before!... This is REAL music!!!...I wish that music could be like this today, but sad to say, the "good old days" of soul stirring music are pretty much gone for good...The vocals are so stirring and pure on this song....they didn't even need a lot of instruments back then to make great music...Sam could do it all...with great music like this around, Sam will always be with us...

  • Sam Cooke. Pimp.

  • @twynne05 he DEFINITELY sang to the ladies...and his good looks din't hurt things either!!! whew!!!!

  • :-)

  • greatest singer ever

  • Those are great, classic photos in the slideshow from a bygone era in society as well as music. Thanks for posting!!!

  • MY OPINION: I believe there is no substance in today's music because sex seems to be the only thing selling. We have become a moral-less, value-less, ethical-less society and the nastier, dirtier the better for many today. I don't listen to anything that isn't a blast from the past or gospel, jazz. SOmething with substance, as stated, or expose my children to it. If we stop buying their mess they will stop making it.

  • In those days, you had to deliver every night. And you competed with other people who also had to deliver every night. Tired? Humidity not ideal? Temperature a little cold for your liking? Want to do 138 more takes over the course of a year and a half? You're out, and somebody who can do it for real takes over. That's why music sucks today.

  • Sing Sam!!!!!

  • it's "You're" as in "you are always on my mind"

also, there's plenty of great new music. granted, there is a lot of crap, but there always is. if you wanna hear some new soul that'll make you think Motown, check out Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, "Stranded in Your Love."

  • Something was incredibly different about this man. What was it?

  • thanks this song is so good.

  • Im in love with this song man! Sam Cooke the Legend

  • They dont make hem like this no more. This brother could raise the roof with no instruments. The punks on stage today hide behind computer generated junk. These ( Sam, Nat , Marvin) guys had real talent.

  • @tbursee I totally agree. Everything is INSTRUMENT-FREE.

  • This has always been my favorite artist. I listen to him everyday. When he died my mother felt so sorry for me. I was eighteen years old living in New Orleans where I saw him proform live at the municipal audotorium. Sam was always in the Big Easy. He sang sitting on a stool , boy was he great. I have a lot of Sam stories.People you can't help but love this once in a lifetime voice. I love you Sam. Sarah Sturgis.

  • @MrAstur6 I'd love to here your Sam stories Sarah. I wish I had the same chance as you, to hear him live, but he died before his time. Thank GOD we still have his music here with us.

  • I love this video mainly because at 1:44 there is a picture of Sam I have never seen. What a great video and wonderful song.

  • great !! soul music sam cooke

  • I'm a huge Sam Cooke fan, love his voice.

  • Sam Cooke is amazing but you need to stop with the "this is when music was good" stereotypical bullshit every generation says that about the era of music. Broaden your horizons people!

  • @LuckyJLloyd I agree that it is stereotypical BS as you say, but today's music puts a whole new spin and meaning on Crap and mediocrity. Bad Music has always been around but I simply Detest most of what I hear today.

  • Sam Cooke's vocals are so pure that just listenin to any of his songs will cause one to feel as if they've somehow been cleansed of somethin... like someone findin Christ after bein compelled to confess and repent.

  • This is from a era where you actually had true musicians and artist. There was not a lot of technology , so the artist had to actually be able to SING, know what I mean? Sam had a hint of southern baptist sunday morning twang in his hmmmm. Cool never goes out of style.

  • Love 1:34...how did he do that??

  • One of the greatest in the world!

  • Who makes songs like that nowadays, so simple and sweet!!

  • Gracias por todo sam cooke

  • Great , great, great, great Sam Cooke!!!

    Thanks!

  • Thank you Dukejah. Sam will always be on our minds.

  • Your welcome, Sam Cooke always inspires me and lifts me up. His music can applied to many situations of life even today. My dad collected all of Sams recordings, so since i child ive always loved and adored his sound. Now my sons are Sam Cooke fans. I wish Sam were around to continue to share his love and sounds of soul

  • @dukejah Again, I passionately concur. Thanks for the postings. Hearing them all means so much in my life!

  • pure genius

  • Every time I listen 2 Sam Cooke's music is like listening 2 it 4 the first time.....TIMELESS!!!

  • Legend.

  • Why can't today's music be good like this?

  • Maybe perhaps, todays so-called artist didnt study the greats like Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Marvin Gaye. Im no hater but todays artist have no substance in thier lyrics.......Just a thought

  • agreed man thats why I listen to this instead.

  • @dukejah U ARE DEFINITELY RIGHT A BOUT THAT...THERE IS A LOT THAT PEOPLE CAN SING ABOUT IF THEY WOULD USE THEIR IMAGINATIONS...BUT WHEN THERE IS NO IMAGINATION, THEN THERE CAN'T BE CREATIVITY, AND WITHOUT BEING CREATIVE, THEN THERE IS NO SUBSTANCE...

  • @dukejah amen brother but to be fair anyone who tried to be like any of those artists would fail:P sad to say but i think music has reached an all time low, but hey, richie havens is still alive!!!

  • @dukejah Absolutely. Also, with the death of the "chicken circuit", these folks now don't get out and learn and practice their craft together over time. And the rise of "instant marketing" where they try to tell us WHO SHOULD BE A STAR instead of the talent speaking for itself. If they stick people in front of most people long enough now they'll eventually think, "Well, he/she must be good". Nothing could be further from the truth. Long live Sam Cooke and the other greats no longer with us!!!

  • @dukejah more like a fact :)

  • @dukejah and you know what the fucked up thing about my generation. when coko taylor died. only i knew about it. i was only 13... and i was the only one who knew who she was.

  • @dukejah Yeah, but the most important thing is the melody i think not the lyrics. Songs like "Rock me Baby" by Muddy Waters are sad and slow, but the lyrics "Rock Me Baby rock me all night long", or "Sun goin' down, the moon begin to rise", "Put your arms around me, like a circle around the sun", say another thing, if you understand me :-P.

  • @dukejah Very true. I'm not biased because today's generation is my generation, but it's changed, and largely for the worse. Contemporary R'n'B is too much about image. How you look and how many notes you can hit in one line seems to be the most important thing. It's all about self indulgence and showing off. It's all contrived and doesn't come from the heart with true meaning. Whatever it is, it's not soul.

  • @MrBWT2 Yes you are so right music back in his day was saying something now day music is nothing no meaning.

  • @MrBWT2 listen to steve perry i know its 80's but it's there two people with great voices

  • @MrBWT2

because then it would not be today's music...lol ignorance is bliss........

  • he makes me so proud to be black

  • The best singers of the world is black...

You may be proud to be black...
