Karazhan is one of the greatest masterpieces of Blizzard. no raid ever will give me the same feeling, it just felt so... NATURAL, you know? there were SO MANY rooms, secret passages, hallways, balconies that you didn't need to enter (but COULD enter, no invisible walls) in order to progress, they were just built in there to make this huge castle feel REAL and ALIVE. for example, remember the library's secret balconies that had books that gave you a buff? they don't make 'em like this anymore.
WOTLK and Cataclysm is good... Just our memories our better. I hated Wotlk when it first came out, now it's my best WoW memories. When Mists of Pandaria comes out, I'll miss Cataclysm.
I remember back when wow didn´t please all the casuals. Dragon Soul is the easiest shit i´ve ever seen in this game, my guild rushes it in 1 hour. Raidfinder destroyed the fun in raiding making it look like those terrible random dungeons. In bc you got a raid group when you got skill! And those raids where realy worth the raiding. Compare Kil'jeaden fight with the new deathwing fight... There is no better style than BC style!!

If Blizzard wont give me the game I desire, then I'll go to those who will! Blizzard can only blame themselves for the black market they created when they consistently refused to allow players to play earlier versions of the game...and its only going to get worse for them.
@NearSW I miss Vanilla WoW, TBC and early WotLK. The entire questing experience was awesome. It wasn't until the raiding and changes came that I lost the will to continue.
back than we had to get attuments for karazhan! the cataclysm generation dosent have to do a shit to get into raids, they get feeded with a silver spoon. i remember in vanilla/bc everything was hardcore, no dungeonfinder, no FLIGHTPATH TO EVERTHING, 1h hearthstone, hard quests, you could actually loose ALOT of arena rating when beaten in a arena match. no tabards that gave you rep for a faction, you had to grind all the things.
Cata was such a mistake -__-!!!!! they should do the next expansion where it turns it back to BC calling it like "The Legion Returns" or "Healing of Azeroth" or "LUL CATA SUCKED SO WE CHANGED IT *insert trollface*" miss BC!!!!! and Kara!
tbc pve: lvl up,get some rare's, get some rep,buy some epic's, farm some mats, make some good items, try to do some easy hc, be lucky to get some epic, finish kara pre q, go in kara, clear kara, go to grull, kill him, go to magy, kill him too, get title. get to ssc, clear it, go to tk, push it to the limit at kael, kill it. get bear from za, go to hy clear it, go to bt, get ur new title, BE PREPARED kill ilidan.now go insane mode, do swp, kill kil'jaden, tbc was just amazing! that was real wow!
@legendaryrababa + you forgot we had attunements,those GODDAMN ATTUNEMENETS!,for which i grief so much.attunements are great way to determine if a player is good enough for certain raid,that way we wouldnt have had some many fuctards,quiters,unmotivated raiders, and clowns in raids,and raiding would be just as beautiful as it was :)
I can imagine a second raid being made here using phasing, or maybe even an upside down dungeon where you progress downwards through a mirror image of the tower, like Ipsen's castle from FFIX, both ideas would work wonderfully with the whole "the veil or reality torn and twisted by magic" theme Kara has going for it...
@Vildasnaga Actually, in lore there is suppose to be an upside down version of Kara from the novels. The Crypts in the back was speculated to be the Upside down entrance but it was son never used.
The main area (after curator) can be flipped and the ceiling looks as if you can walk on it without a problem.
It is said that the crypt was so horrible (not sucks, but horrible on a horror way) that blizzard did not release it and locked it away coz the game basecly for 12 years old+ (You can remember how.. "Delightful" blizzard can be as in Diablo 2).
In the end of the day, acourding to the lore, all the raids are basecly over just from 1, and that, will be Karazhan, wich will always be hunted forever.
You never really explore all Karazhan, the tower always changing... And remember, this tower got its upside-down version... The Karazhan Crypt... The undeads in Karazhan basecly can never escape thire fate. They will never leave the tower that the time itself dosent effect it. The Prince may be tough to be the source of evil inside this place, but I can promist you, its not.
I remember It was a couple months before wrath was set to come out and one thing they spread around was "wrath of the lich king will have more of a dark creepy feel than BC did" In my opinion Kara had more "Creepy" in it than wrath and most of BC rolled together. the Music and everything was sort of morbid and unusual. <3 Kara and <3 B C!
@xHollowfiedx In my opinion, they did a good job with making ICC, and the zone it was in, feel creepy. Though, I do agree with you, Kara did have a creepier feel. Icecrown was more of creepy mixed with doom, sorrow, and hatred. Kara was more creepy mixed with wtf is this place.
The reason I stopped playing was because the raids were becoming too easy. And there was no storyline anymore. Well, there was... But it's not like anyone really cared anymore. Karazhan was, in my opinion, the greatest creation in the game. The whole place is beautiful. The beauty of Kara and the difficulty of the Sunwell. I'd like to see that one day.

Went to many raids since then, and love many, esp. Ulduar and ICC, but Kara will always be special to me ...
I wanted to stealth the instance through with my rogue, and wow... I was so excited. The place had this gothic feeling and the how the people danced... the music... It was like another world! I so wish that there would be an opportunity to RP inside the halls of Karazhan...
you know this makes me yearn for tbc again...so many good things back then...kara...the best raid in exsistence....armor sets were amazing...cept the pally ones...but who cares about them...heroics were harder and required quite high lvl gear to do easily....and the gear was actually hard to get back then....so not everyone and their mom was walking around in highest tier gear...and i just kinda miss ol in general
Blizzard at their best, for sure. This was the era where Blizzard dared to go into new territory and they mastered it beyond anyone's imagination. Now they try, and overkill, and end up screwing the game up. Oh well, it was once an unmatched masterpiece, but all good things must die :(

@CedricShow Maybe, but I can't help but feel that Cata is even easier and more casual than WotLK. People often remember how Lich King heroics were 15 minutes of AoE, but that was 2 years after release. 2 months into Cata, and we're almost doing the same exact thing. Maybe I'm just complaining, but I don't love it as much as I used to.
@darkwoodmovies unlike lichking heroics however, if you simply ignore the mechanics of a fight...i.e. stand in fire, youll most definitely die, and no lich king heroics were easy to begin with, only offering a few actually hard bosses before they were nerfed into the ground, and as soon as you got a few pieces of first tier gear from naxx, you could just roll through them.
@CBleck I don't know about that. Fire does hit for more, but you can still take 3-5 hits. In BC it 1-shot you, period. Most of the people I play with don't have full epics yet, but nevertheless we truck through heroics in guild groups just the same as we did in Wrath. The nerf bat is restrained this expac, but it really wasn't hard to begin with. How long did it take to get WOTLK heroic mounts? A year on average? Half the people I know already have the Cata ones.
@darkwoodmovies the wotlk heroic mount first off had several unfair achievements...like less-rabi for instance, making it near impossible until you were severely better geared, second, if you ignored fight mechanics in cata, you will die...theres few exceptions save now Baron Ashbury who's been nerfed into the ground. Plus the thing that made BC heroics so hard was the fact you were probably undergeared for them, and in BC it was incredibly hard to get gear due to all the attunements furthermore
@darkwoodmovies what does it matter anyway, heroics are fun the first few times then they either get boring for being too easy or tedious for being too hard...and the core content is NOT heroics anyway, its raids, and the cata raiding is most definitely harder than wotlk raiding...is it harder than BC, thats entirely debatable...but i believe some encounters are currently more difficult than most fights that were in BC's first raiding tier, though not all. Also, you really shouldnt pay attention
@darkwoodmovies to the "quality" of the items, you should pay attention to their item lvl...its really from that you can assertain the true value of the item...and if most of your guildies are in all heroics w/ some epics, you SHOULDN'T be having problems w/ heroics, and they should be relatively easy for you guys, you're already geared from those as well as have the coordination skill to best them easily...now if you were trucking through raids, then there's a big, big problem
@darkwoodmovies lol...sorry for the walls of text, i just get very fervent when people claim because one of the lowest levels of content is easy, then the xpac is not 'good'...and before you/if you say that ive never played BC....trust me i remember too well the constant wipes in shadow labs, steam vault, and even worst of all arcatraz...amongst the others, but i also remember wiping frequently in cata heroics just as soon as they were available...which is a much sooner than the BC ones were
@CBleck In BC, gear mattered. Heroics were for geared players, and regulars were for people in blues. The new system has been screwed over where you can ding 80/85 and truck on in heroics after a few visits to the AH. Regular dungeons are nothing more than leveling areas now. Anyway, my intent wasn't to complain about heroics, although I miss those pulls in Shattered Halls or Shadow Labs, where skill mattered. I always pug with at least one Wrath hero who stands in everything and the other 4...
carry him, without much consequence to our progress. In BC, nobody dared pug heroic Black Morass until about a year later.
As for the raids, I wouldn't say they're super-easy, but I would say they are around Wrath level. I absolutely resent the heroic/regular modes in raids, because it's just lazy design that sends you to repeat something you already grinded out when you're done with a few more fires and stuff hitting harder. My progress in Naxx was about the same as it is now in Cata regulars.
And I'm not complaining that the expansion sucks because of the difficulty level. The reason why I'm disappointed with it is because I log in, do 2 dailies, and I'm bored because there's nothing left to do. No need to grind gold, you get it easy. No need to grind achievements, they all just come naturally now. Etc.
Quests are obnoxiously linear. For the first time in my time playing WoW, I never want to repeat any of the new zones ever again if I don't have to.
@darkwoodmovies like I've said to many others, it's not the game that's different albeit yes heroic were harder back in BC, it's really just yourself, you've been playing this game for a long time now, and like anything, you're probably just growing bored of it, at it's core it really is the same game that was released 6+ years ago. As for the quests, well I believe they're better than ever before, and I don't see your problem with them, the old quests if anything were obnoxiously spread out
@darkwoodmovies for instance, why would i go to an area, kill 10x, leave, turn in quest, only to be sent back right after....or even later on and have to kill through everything I already killed for a previous quest, it's tedious. Don't get me wrong, old world definitely had its gems, Tower of Althalaxx, Linken, Tirion and Taelon, Myzrael, and a few others, but over all it really isn't anywhere near as entertaining or fun, though i suppose that's subjective, as it is today
@CBleck Well, I get what you're saying, and yes, part of it is the game is exhausted to me, individually. But expansions are supposed to bring new wonders and a fresh perspective. The way I felt was I'd rather re-do WotLK than continue Cata (and mind you, I was extremely optimistic when it launched, and I couldn't wait to get away from Wrath). Yes it's only my opinion, and no doubt it's still the best MMO around, but I just feel that it was once a much better game. But again, just my opinion heh
Naxx was a massive failure because nobody friggin saw it. The fact that hey had to recycle that dungeon for Wrath could also be considered a failure. The dungeon itself, though, was awesome.
@gsofficial Beyond the first couple run throughs, Naxx was actually pretty boring. It was that same tired Scarlet Monastery winged instance design paradigm that generally..is boring. Kara had character in a way not much from Wrath really provided. It was also a really nice raid to just bum around with friends/guildies on a random night and have fun. Naxx, being the entry level raid for Wrath, never even closely lived up to that.
Best raid ever made. Perfect introduction for new raiders, well designed fights, progression, atmosphere was phenomenal, and easily the most unique of the raids. Chess and Opera were amazing
@HamGreenandEggs I still think BWL was the best, but karazhan was pretty damn good, especially for the reasons you mentioned. It was a pretty good way to get people into raiding. Too bad the rest of the BC raids sucked.

@OferRaid How was Naxx a failure? It had lots of cool bosses, good loots, enjoyable fights and atmosphere. And when Wrath was new, those bosses weren't all pushovers--of course its easy shit now.
They copy and pasted the instance from the original naxx with a few changes (Very, very slight changes) and modified easily modified database files with Health damage and the spell's effectiveness aswell as items.
They didn't even have the audacity to remake Atiesh.
Obviously, not as a legendary... But still.
Thats the reason it (And Ony10/25) failed, there was no effort in them.

The reason I stopped playing was because the raids were becoming too easy. And there was no storyline anymore. Well, there was... But it's not like anyone really cared anymore. Karazhan was, in my opinion, the greatest creation in the game. The whole place is beautiful. The beauty of Kara and the difficulty of the Sunwell. I'd like to see that one day.

*shivers* After all the time this music is still awesome! Adds so much to the great atmosphere of Karazhan. I remember back in BC this was my first raid ever. We didn´t have a clue what we did, but noone cared, we were just awed to be there. :D
Went to many raids since then, and love many, esp. Ulduar and ICC, but Kara will always be special to me ...

I wanted to stealth the instance through with my rogue, and wow... I was so excited. The place had this gothic feeling and the how the people danced... the music... It was like another world! I so wish that there would be an opportunity to RP inside the halls of Karazhan...

you know this makes me yearn for tbc again...so many good things back then...kara...the best raid in exsistence....armor sets were amazing...cept the pally ones...but who cares about them...heroics were harder and required quite high lvl gear to do easily....and the gear was actually hard to get back then....so not everyone and their mom was walking around in highest tier gear...and i just kinda miss ol in general

Blizzard at their best, for sure. This was the era where Blizzard dared to go into new territory and they mastered it beyond anyone's imagination. Now they try, and overkill, and end up screwing the game up. Oh well, it was once an unmatched masterpiece, but all good things must die :(

@CedricShow Maybe, but I can't help but feel that Cata is even easier and more casual than WotLK. People often remember how Lich King heroics were 15 minutes of AoE, but that was 2 years after release. 2 months into Cata, and we're almost doing the same exact thing. Maybe I'm just complaining, but I don't love it as much as I used to.

@darkwoodmovies unlike lichking heroics however, if you simply ignore the mechanics of a fight...i.e. stand in fire, youll most definitely die, and no lich king heroics were easy to begin with, only offering a few actually hard bosses before they were nerfed into the ground, and as soon as you got a few pieces of first tier gear from naxx, you could just roll through them.

@CBleck I don't know about that. Fire does hit for more, but you can still take 3-5 hits. In BC it 1-shot you, period. Most of the people I play with don't have full epics yet, but nevertheless we truck through heroics in guild groups just the same as we did in Wrath. The nerf bat is restrained this expac, but it really wasn't hard to begin with. How long did it take to get WOTLK heroic mounts? A year on average? Half the people I know already have the Cata ones.

@darkwoodmovies the wotlk heroic mount first off had several unfair achievements...like less-rabi for instance, making it near impossible until you were severely better geared, second, if you ignored fight mechanics in cata, you will die...theres few exceptions save now Baron Ashbury who's been nerfed into the ground. Plus the thing that made BC heroics so hard was the fact you were probably undergeared for them, and in BC it was incredibly hard to get gear due to all the attunements furthermore

@darkwoodmovies what does it matter anyway, heroics are fun the first few times then they either get boring for being too easy or tedious for being too hard...and the core content is NOT heroics anyway, its raids, and the cata raiding is most definitely harder than wotlk raiding...is it harder than BC, thats entirely debatable...but i believe some encounters are currently more difficult than most fights that were in BC's first raiding tier, though not all. Also, you really shouldnt pay attention

@darkwoodmovies to the "quality" of the items, you should pay attention to their item lvl...its really from that you can assertain the true value of the item...and if most of your guildies are in all heroics w/ some epics, you SHOULDN'T be having problems w/ heroics, and they should be relatively easy for you guys, you're already geared from those as well as have the coordination skill to best them easily...now if you were trucking through raids, then there's a big, big problem

@darkwoodmovies lol...sorry for the walls of text, i just get very fervent when people claim because one of the lowest levels of content is easy, then the xpac is not 'good'...and before you/if you say that ive never played BC....trust me i remember too well the constant wipes in shadow labs, steam vault, and even worst of all arcatraz...amongst the others, but i also remember wiping frequently in cata heroics just as soon as they were available...which is a much sooner than the BC ones were

@CBleck In BC, gear mattered. Heroics were for geared players, and regulars were for people in blues. The new system has been screwed over where you can ding 80/85 and truck on in heroics after a few visits to the AH. Regular dungeons are nothing more than leveling areas now. Anyway, my intent wasn't to complain about heroics, although I miss those pulls in Shattered Halls or Shadow Labs, where skill mattered. I always pug with at least one Wrath hero who stands in everything and the other 4...

carry him, without much consequence to our progress. In BC, nobody dared pug heroic Black Morass until about a year later.
As for the raids, I wouldn't say they're super-easy, but I would say they are around Wrath level. I absolutely resent the heroic/regular modes in raids, because it's just lazy design that sends you to repeat something you already grinded out when you're done with a few more fires and stuff hitting harder. My progress in Naxx was about the same as it is now in Cata regulars.

And I'm not complaining that the expansion sucks because of the difficulty level. The reason why I'm disappointed with it is because I log in, do 2 dailies, and I'm bored because there's nothing left to do. No need to grind gold, you get it easy. No need to grind achievements, they all just come naturally now. Etc.
Quests are obnoxiously linear. For the first time in my time playing WoW, I never want to repeat any of the new zones ever again if I don't have to.
Anyway, that's just my view on it.

@darkwoodmovies like I've said to many others, it's not the game that's different albeit yes heroic were harder back in BC, it's really just yourself, you've been playing this game for a long time now, and like anything, you're probably just growing bored of it, at it's core it really is the same game that was released 6+ years ago. As for the quests, well I believe they're better than ever before, and I don't see your problem with them, the old quests if anything were obnoxiously spread out

@darkwoodmovies for instance, why would i go to an area, kill 10x, leave, turn in quest, only to be sent back right after....or even later on and have to kill through everything I already killed for a previous quest, it's tedious. Don't get me wrong, old world definitely had its gems, Tower of Althalaxx, Linken, Tirion and Taelon, Myzrael, and a few others, but over all it really isn't anywhere near as entertaining or fun, though i suppose that's subjective, as it is today

@CBleck Well, I get what you're saying, and yes, part of it is the game is exhausted to me, individually. But expansions are supposed to bring new wonders and a fresh perspective. The way I felt was I'd rather re-do WotLK than continue Cata (and mind you, I was extremely optimistic when it launched, and I couldn't wait to get away from Wrath). Yes it's only my opinion, and no doubt it's still the best MMO around, but I just feel that it was once a much better game. But again, just my opinion heh

Naxx was a massive failure because nobody friggin saw it. The fact that hey had to recycle that dungeon for Wrath could also be considered a failure. The dungeon itself, though, was awesome.

@gsofficial Beyond the first couple run throughs, Naxx was actually pretty boring. It was that same tired Scarlet Monastery winged instance design paradigm that generally..is boring. Kara had character in a way not much from Wrath really provided. It was also a really nice raid to just bum around with friends/guildies on a random night and have fun. Naxx, being the entry level raid for Wrath, never even closely lived up to that.

Best raid ever made. Perfect introduction for new raiders, well designed fights, progression, atmosphere was phenomenal, and easily the most unique of the raids. Chess and Opera were amazing

@HamGreenandEggs I still think BWL was the best, but karazhan was pretty damn good, especially for the reasons you mentioned. It was a pretty good way to get people into raiding. Too bad the rest of the BC raids sucked.

@OferRaid How was Naxx a failure? It had lots of cool bosses, good loots, enjoyable fights and atmosphere. And when Wrath was new, those bosses weren't all pushovers--of course its easy shit now.
Karazhan is still FTW, but why knock on Naxx?

Blizzard made no effort on it.
They copy and pasted the instance from the original naxx with a few changes (Very, very slight changes) and modified easily modified database files with Health damage and the spell's effectiveness aswell as items.
They didn't even have the audacity to remake Atiesh.
Obviously, not as a legendary... But still.
Thats the reason it (And Ony10/25) failed, there was no effort in them.
However take a instance like... Deadmines...

ToC lacked idea and was to easy, i didnt give you a feeling like you did something epic when u got all the way done with it. I mean i think the top guilded cleared that shit with Mad Skill on ToGC one of their first tries
