Does the raynox not show a circle until zoomed? I am not impressed with Canons wideangle as like you say after zooming it looses half of its field of view :(
You have to move the zoom to the line which is 3/4 along your zoom indicator at the top of your screen, its the same for both lenses, dont go too far or you will have to reboot your camera. Ive posted a video response but it doesnt seem to have happened yet, good luck
for the ones recommending me to change the configuration "I ALREADY DID IT AND I MENTIONED ABOUT IT IN THE VIDEO INFO" just click on the fcuking "more info" button goddamns!!
I'm not sure if you have found the answer to this problem.
i have the G9 & just bought the Canon conversion lens adapter: LA-DC58H
and the Canon Wide Converter (the wide angle lens) :WC-DC58B.
I am not having the problem you are experiencing.
I did not have to change any of the settings to get the lens to work. I simply put on the conversion lens adapter as you did and then added the wide angle lens and had no problems.
That is just how angles, physics and optics works You can't bend a 3D world into a 2D square (picture) without making it look round or have vignettes (black corners)
@beatsiz dude I wanted to take pictures in rooms, as you know rooms are limited and small places, I wanted to add a wide angle lens, Fotodiox lenses didnt work as promised, so I switched to raynox lenses.
Case closed, raynox works perfect. But people still give me advices even I posted this message more than 1,5 years ago.
@beatsiz noob dont talk before understanding what is going on! both lenses are 0.5x but Fotodiox is 10 times cheaper than raynox, so I decided to give it a try. Even they said fotodiox was compatible with Canon G9 (and noone warned about vignetting issues) if ur not blind you can see the result above.
After vignetting issues I returned back fotodiox and got the Raynox which gave perfect results for me.
do you need to insult people JUST to explain them how things work ? he made a question, he didnt do anything bad, he possibly must learn about camera, but you must learn about a civil way to live and communicate (wich is more important) lol ... and they call us 'civilization'
I got an original canon adapter with a raynox lens. Please browse my other videos/uploads with canon title, you will see the perfect working configuration.
Hello! I'm a photographer, and I have this camera myself. Basically, what I reckon you are doing wrong is the fact that you don't use original converter-lenses. I have purchased both the Canon wide-angle and tele-lense and it work just fine! Really don't see any other reasons for the problem :)
There are "vignetting" wich is caused by the canon lens to see inside the tube.
In telephoto this dosn´t affect you negative at all because you would like better zoom. And by just zooming you´ll don´t have any vignett left. In the wideangel one, this lens is not so good, choose one with less wideangle. I have a raynox lens with 0.7 wideangle wich works fine.
Vignetting is caused by the long lens adapter. Always use original lens adapter. The vignetting still continued after the original lens. The problem is solved by original adapter and raynox wide angle lens.
I think maybe it's that the tube is too long, maybe zoom in a little will avoid those black circle. But I think it's normal to have a black circle when doing wide angle, but yours are quiet big...
It is in deed normal for the black circle to form around the edges, that lens is made to zoom closer, not to use it for shots you could get with out it. so once you zoom in, the black circle will be gone.
looks like you may have your answers already...but yes
change settings in menu
teleconverter lens will show that black circle if you zoom out too far. those aren't actual lenses, just additional pieces of glass put infront of your lens to "trick" it. therefore, there's a bunch of metal/plastic in front of the lens that would be in the shot if you zoom out.
Press menu down at right back. scroll down to converter(pg 241 in manual)[WC-DC58B] or [TC-DC58C]odd thing is mine is a DC58H. It can be a nightmare if in a rush and you over extend the lense and have to reboot. I do miss all my old Nikon 35mm lenses.
yea dude..sorry gotta agree with the rest. you MUST change the configuration. Also as far as the telescope and the dark circle mess.. telescope is meant to shoot subjects and far distances. You will only see that circle if your zooming out. and I believe that circle only appears when your zoooming out to like 24" or less.
you're a complete idiot, if you buy something, you have to read the manual first, and then, you try the camera. I have a g9 and that doesn't happento me because I read in the manual that you have to change the configuration of the camera in the menu for putting lenses.
hahaahaha, that was really funny. you'll get it done, if you haven't already, don't worry :). i'm looking forward to getting this camera. best of luck!
You need to configure the lens from the camera, I have a Sony DSC H7 and the same thing happened to me until they find out that from the menu on the camera could be set your telephoto lens and the wide angle lens.
I am Spanish and my English is very bad, I hope I have helped.
Thanks for the reply. I JUST purchased my camera(seriously, 10 minutes ago! lol), Im so excited to get it and the lenses. Im happy you got everything squared away, and I hope your new lenses prove to be good for the camera :o)
Fotodiox accepted that the tube adapter may not be compatible with G9. I have been told that it is longer than the original adapter and that may be the reason of vignetting (the term I call "black circle" is vignetting lol) By the way, I purchased a better wide angle lens; the Raynox HD 7000 Pro. I will publish a video about it as soon as I get the original tube adapter.
fkking dikkheads, there were no manual, the lenses were told to be suited to G9 but did not !!! look how dumb youtube community is...

ur sopposed to zoom in, that is what u do with alot of adapters, even if i defeats the purpose of wide angle
kenpomaster95 2 years ago
You guys really don't understand how Lenses work do you?
You can't always get the results you want, vignetting will occur because the camera's sensor and optics cannot conform to the lens...

His problem is that he bought wide angle lens that is TOO POWERFUL...
I did my research before buying one, so I'm not running into "PROBLEMS"
This is like buying NOS for a mini van, completely useless...

@beatsiz dude they said it was compatible with G9, what could I do? I trusted...

Go to Google, and type in Fisheye.

You idiot.
It completely depends on the adapter you use, the angle it captures and the focal length.
So having a 0.25X vs a 0.5X is going to make a HUGE difference.
Add a long adapter to either one and you get even more vignette.
This is not the brands fault, it's your lack of knowledge on the subject.

First off, you handle your camera like a "noob"
Secondly, I know what I'm talking about and you don't, that's why you posted this video.
And lastly, 0.5X ON A FUCKING CANON G9 IS GOING TO VIGNETTE
VIGNETTE
LEARN THE FUCKING WORD
Have a good day now and go whine some more.
