This video doesn't do John's voice much justice, he is a HELLUVA singer and some people might not recognize that watching this(his voice is amazing I speak ONLY of the quality of the video).... He is one of my biggest influences when it comes to guitar though, he speaks through those 6 strings every time he plays.
and even if you think he is not that good...it takes balls to sit with an accoustic guitar and like bill hicks once said: PLAY FROM YOUR FUCKING HEART!!
john does that at every gig...and its worth a lot more than just playing typical shreding solos, without risk cuz you know that people will be satisfied. this is how a real interpretation should be like.
people who play fast.. that doesnt mean anything at all... just the fact that theyr'e robots... like malmsteen...everyone from iron maiden... dream theater... none of them have feeling or soul.. john does

well, thats cuz its from 2001.. he wasnt much of a singer yet, he was playing on pure emotion, which is fine

@rickybrant I disagree. Dream Theater does have feeling and soul. Malmsteen and Iron Maiden definitely don't though.
