It's good, John Malkovich is in it ;) No you don't have to see the first one? Which is? The talented Mr. Ripley ? It's not really a sequel. But Ripley in this movie is more like in the books.

Yes, it's good. Malkovich is perfect as an older, wiser Ripley. I love this film and have seen it many times.

it's an awesome film and no, you don't need to see the first Ripley film with Matt Damon to enjoy it. Matt Damon's version and this one with Malkovich are virtually unrelated.
