Ppl will get mad at me for this but I love this song but I always thought the music sounds like Litty Wells "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels"
Actually, you're right. "Honky Tonk Angels," "Great Speckled Bird," Hank Thompson's "Wild Side of Life," and Sara Carter's "I'm Thinking Tonight of my Blue Eyes" all use variants of the same tune ("Blue Eyes" is slightly different from the other three).
Hi Friends: adoration from your newest fan- This was my late Grandmother's favorite song. When she told me, I thought she said, 'Grey Speckled Bird'. You are a big inspiration. God bless you all. -J
I like your version and I hope it will help me to learn this tune. Thank you!
