This is classic example of why you always wanna have hard copy in front of you, WITH some prep (rehearsal) to familiarize yourself with it so that if something goes wrong, you don't look like a complete boob on the air. This poor guy obviously had NO copy, NO preparation, and either a severely inept PrompTer operator, or if it's automatically operated, SOMEONE should have slowed the damned thing down. Allanscot's right; he's dying out there.

It was not his fault, a. he was doing this because someone else had a sick day and b. there was a technical failure, which when you figure out that television announcers are actually reading a script, you should be better equipped to comment on his performance. The script was continually disappearing. He did very well considering. Most people would have given up. He made it to Wikipedia.

Letterman was doing a segment where audience members show interesting things/facts about themselves, and this guy was there. He brought the tape with him and showed to the audience, saying that he invented "boom goes the dynamite". Letterman gave him a small gift too.

So that's some good news, he's over it and he laughs about it now. Such a sweet guy too.
