This is awesome, Nice vid.. Im making a mame cabinet myself with the Xarcade tankstick! With modded buttons and stick, I think its abit expensive but i think you get your monies worth ~ 8 buttons! rofl.

This is certainly a persuasive review of the X Arcade! Nice Job man! I do want to ask though, some people have said that when using the console adaptor to play on consoles that there is some lag which can be annoying. What do you think of it? Is there any noticeable lag?

@Ulrichthehedgehog I work at an arcade and play many of these PS2 games (mortal kombat, robotron) in there original stand up machine. and i will say, I in no way can find or feel any lag in the controles. In my humble opinion x-arcade is the only arcade stick that is 100 percent perfect for games from the 90s.

it has a special attachment were (just like you change the tires of a car) you can change the system conection. As of right now C-Arcade sells attachements for PC,PS1,2,3,X-box, Xbox 360, game cube, wii, and dreamcast. each attachment sells for about $20.

if you're having speed problems with MAME, you're using a computer that is too old or an obsolete version of MAME. The latest (notable) update of MAME is .135, so torrent a complete set of ROMs from the torrent site of your choice and try again. The developers of MAME are much more dedicated and anal than the people that make the phoned-in official ports will ever be. That said, the PS2 ports are pretty good, but MAME is still a tiny bit better.

Your cabinet is cool and all but...These games your reviewing are ports on the PS2, and NOT ran from the actual circuit boards that the games were originally. After watching all your reviews, then seeing this, I feel like I wasted alot of my time. Sorry man, but that's kind of disappointing.

@WrathOscuro sorry to burst your bubble, but the majority of arcade games that are around today are ran off computers. the PS2 ports on Midway and Capcom arcade titles are infact arcade perfect.

It's not that I'm trying to be a troll or anything, But after reading some reviews, there are some titles that are ports that really aren't perfect. And yes, I'm aware that alot of them are run off computers. But when you do that, you would be using MAME right? The actual arcade versions. @WrathOscuro Midway Arcade treasures and Capcom classics, and metasl slugs, and taito legends, and that neo geo game (forget the title at the moment) are all arcade perfecty ports. I work at an arcade and play many of these titles eveyday at my work and never pick up any diferences. and any diference that i may see does not effect game play (like how you cant chose ranom on MK2) but still i have played these titles in the arcade as well. and mame is often less then perfect.

Much of the games or more glitched then the original (sight DragonBall 2, and Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder)

not to mention many of the games suffer greater slow down then the originals (like TMNT:turtles in time, and lets not forget Mortal Kombat 4 ha ha) Also some games work better on mame then the original like Dragons Lair that would often glitch half way throgh, because it was on a lazer disk. . .Roms dont get the same kind of glitches LAzer disks do.

I agree there are games that Mame simply cannot emulate, but a huge majority it can. I understand why you're using a console now though. For Capcom fans, both Kawaks and Mame play the games beautiful. The CPS1 and CPS2 stuff. All of the MK games (except for 4) work fine too. But yeah. If I was lucky enough to have an arcade cabinet I'd probably just get the actual circuit boards. But yeah, I see why now. I dunno though, it's just a weird idea to me to have a cabinet unless it's 100% authentic.

thats just the thing. to do that cost 1000s of dolors. because even if you have the bord then you might not have the right controles. Like pacman, if you have the board but you have a lazer joystick insted of a switch joystick its not the same. Not to mention that many modern arcades are run off of Dells and PS3s. Aslo not all bords are jamma, so not all bords fit with all machines. So there for its more economicly sound to have a MultiCade, wether it be mame, pst or dreamcast based.

One question on your arcade machine: How do you get to play arcade games on the PS2? I am aware that there are some arcade classic collections for that system. But do they really include titles such as N.A.R.C. or Smash-TV? If yes, can you name the collections, please?

Well like i said, i use an X-arcade so that solves controles. But yes, ps2 has a hord of arcade perfect collections. Nark and Smash tv come from the the Midway Arcade Treasures collection (1,2) Some other good arcade colletions to look into are Taito legends adn Capcom Colletion 1,2. Namco Museum is good (but they are not arcade perfect)

xarcade is not the best, it's good but not the best. Best American style would be HAPP because that IS what American arcades used.

Fair enough, I stand corrected :P was tired when I wrote that. 6 buttons LP MP HP, LK MK HK, I was thinking of the console version that has ones that combine all the kick buttons and all the punch buttons. Nice cab dude, I'm custom building a stick myself out of Sanwa parts, I'd like a cab but havent got the money to invest in it atm. The Xarcade uses Happ clone's as parts. So I figure I'll try the Japanese stuff out and be putting up videos on the wiring and such. Nice job again :) 5/5

if it doesnt move your character and that kinda stuff, then its cause some games vary between the d-pad and analog stick, you can switch with x-arcade, go to the website, customer service, and type in playstation 2 button layout

yeah. Its EZ. Just get sheva and do the tella-stomp over and over and over. If you get the timing down (one right after the other) you will beat him.

you can also just blitz him with combos.

thats a really good idea with the x-arcade it doesnt require much installation and its perfect feel. and by the way, the reason it has 8 buttons is for when your playin street fighter and such, or for your skills...

Well I'm fitting a dreamcast to run my arcade machine. Using a TOPSPEED taito cab. The back panel was being held in place by wood screws and the lock was broken. I decided to go the latch route to save time If I needed access to the back. I'm pretty much doing the same thing as you but I'm not altering the control panel support. Just adding a 2x4 to support my X-arcade and using the latches that are on the cab to lock it in place. I do like the artork though!

why do you need the vcr again can't you just connect the ps2 straight to the tv? and how is the x arcade controller hooked up to the ps2 are the controls responsive and quick

I use the TV for two reasons 1) the TV dose not have AV input and 2) i use it to recorde game footage for Arcade Guts.

The X-Arcade has a controler converter. It is every bit as responsive as an oficial PS2 controler. As i said X-Arcade is perfect!

most excellent i got the xarcade stick, and got an old computer from the thrift store (windows98) and download mame32 and a bunch of arcade games i used to play, got it on arcade treasures but those disks broke :( and then suprisingly, its all compatible with the cheap software! arcade games are the best!

Your reviews are great I ended up subscribing. MK has always been one of my favorite video game series as well up there with Resident Evil. I too have the X-Arcade and my own arcade machine (still in the process) It does kick ass!

wow .. i have almost the exact set up, but instead of a ps2 i just put and old laptop. and i also put a 32 inch rgb tv in there. My cabinet was an original Donkey Kong that was already gutted. I also have the x-arcade stick and YEAH it rocks... Good Job

PS2 have a host of Arcade Perfect Callections Midway Arcade Tresurs 1-3, Capcom 1-2, Taito Legends1-2, Namco museum and many others. . .

Well Jerek was a clone of Kano. . .They had Kano programed into MK4 however Midway wanted more new charicters, so they just changed the Skin (computer term) and made Jerek. . .He is included into MK: Armaggedon with his very own moves as oposed to kanos. .. Dose that help?
