I have 5 drums for my Suomi and every one needed lubrication and a bit of work to get it to feed properly since they are WWII veterans and had been in storage for many years. To retension the drum, rotate it one click counterclockwise, remove the screw on the arm and the arm, then rotate the drum counterclockwise until it won't go anymore then back it off 8 clicks, replace arm and screw and your done.
A bent feed lip inside the drum is also a common issue. Load the drum with 71 rounds and manually eject each round. When you load the drum the outer loop is 37 rounds, the inner is 34. Between the outer and inner loop is a feed lip that sometimes is bent back a bit, on account of a great deal of use, so that the last 2 rounds of the outer loop get hung up, lose tension and dont feed right. Bend that lip back forward with needlenose pliars and this problem is fixed. Just my 2 cents.
kp-31 is 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than ppsh-41

there is a problem with the drum winding mechanism. It was faulty from the very beginning. mag holds 72 rounds fully loaded
