You truely command a very very powerful and deep understanding of dramtic timing, and whatever editing software(s) you use. If you hadnt already thought of it, I would very highly recommend digital editing as a future.
My heart started racing and I got goosebumps. Felt like laughing giddily and crying at the same time and running around screaming "REVOLUTION" but being at library, people would probably be pretty pissed!
this is pretty awesome, i think you could've had Gandalf fit for the role of valjean, and Aragorn as Marius, and then Faramir as Enjorlas. Just a thought, But other than that it's pretty epic or even King Theoden as Enjorlas
this is pretty awesome, i think you could've had Gandalf fit for the role of valjean, and Aragorn as Marius, and then Faramir as Enjorlas. Just a thought, But other than that it's pretty epic
Whoever was bitching at you for "casting Arwen as Eponine" is an idiot. I think you worked the two stories together really well, and it makes sense to me to have Arwen onscreen for that part. After all, she is "on her own" for that part of the movie :)
I love all your lotr les mis videos! It's fun thinking of all the lotr characters in different situations with different life stories. your clip selection is brilliant and the montages are beautiful :)
i can't even tell you how happy this video makes me. i have two halves of my heart: the nerdy (lotr, harry potter, anime, etc.), and artistic (art, music, mucicals, etc.). Lotr is the biggest part of the one half and Les Mis is the biggest part of the other, so naturally i put them together. Imagine my suprise when I saw this. I love you so much for putting this up! XD
I am a huge Les Mis' fan,but even though I have the box-set of TLoTR ,I'm slightly embarrassed to say I have yet to watch them, lol. But,your amazing cross-over clips have spurred me into taking an evening,or 3,to watch the movies. You're clearly passionate about what you do,it shows in your vidz,so well done!
I don't know how you do it, but keep on doing it!!! this was the most EPIC EXTRAORDINARY CREATIVE ETC ETC ETC thing EVER!! i am absolutely OBSESSED with both Lotr and les mis so this is a perfect combination. i seriously got goosbumps from this!
YAY! Thank you so much for crossing over my favorite musical with one of my favorite obsessions! I was thinking... wow, LotR has quite a bit in common with Les Mis, I'll look up a vid on Youtube, but I probably won't find anything. . . Imagine my surprise! :D And when I was watching, I was like, "Meh? Gollum as Thenardier?" and then I realized that in a later song he sings somthing like "Here's a golden ring. Pretty little thing. . ." So that actually works perfectly! :D
Oh my God, this is amazing. Beyond words actually. Both LOTR and LM are so epic that connecting them together in one video is simply too much for me : ) my heart just blows up. Plus, moment with Faramir and Eowyn made me close to tears. What a wonderful idea which is made so terribly well. I truly congratulate you. Greetings.
Incredibly wonderful! Not just this one but all of them. You fit the characters to the best of your abilities which is challenging when combining two very different stories. Subscribed and can't wait for viewing your future videos, LOTR les miserables or not :-D
WOW!!! That was just... Wow! I think you casted everyone pretty perfectly, and even if you hadn't, this is your video, and your time and energy that created it... Anyone who disagrees can simply watch something else! 5*!
WOW um, genious I am an avid fan of both Les Mis and LOTR, and this stays true to both......Aragorn is so much better of a Valjean then Frodo. it takes more than running away to make a Valjean. Plus, that would leave Aragorn as Marius, which would leave Eowyn as Eponine, and the poor girl has had enough misery in her own world without adding 'Ponine's!
Spectacular!! Watching this video made my heart swell with joy as I love both LotR and Les Miserables. You captured the characters wonderfully and your timing was perfection. Well done! By George you did it!
problems joining together by the end of the song when they are all in unison.
Gollum is creepy as Thernadiers! Arwen so tragic, pining, and noble sacrificing her love for Faramir and Eowyn's, you can really tell she's just caught in this larger conflict. Boromir definitely the patriotic military leader. Witchking makes sense as Javert, he's hunting down the next King of Men, Isildur's heir the one prophesized for reuniting all. So Aragorn as Valjean, the haunted vagabond is perfect. Frodo isn't
but somehow this video also told the LOTR story. True the roles/characters were switched around a bit, but this was still the heart of LOTR, just with more of an emphasis on combing all the people's hopes and fears into this one story, climaxing with the upcoming battle. That's why I love this best. This is the only video I have seen that really took care to weave all these separate lives and cries into one; they are all combined and I can feel the full force of their individual
Ok, I'm dumbstruck. I think this was your best video I have seen thus far. Yes, I love the others (mainly the Valjean/Aragorn ones) because of the music, lyrics, and how you connected them, but this one...
Was unbelievable.
For as much as you preempted complaints over your casting calls, I agree wholeheartedly with you that I cannot see it, no, it just cannot be any other way. This all fit so perfectly.
Yes, this is relying more on Les Mis to tell the story using what you had from LOTR films
nice work. the big question i have is how are you going to do red and black with the notable lack of red and black banners that don't look completely menacing in LotR?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh god. I completely and totally lost all respect for you.
I know, logistically, it would be better to cast Eowyn as Cosette if you've set on Faramir for Marius. It makes sense. It just streatches the boundaries of credulity.
Then to go so far as to switch it up...and put ARWEN in the part of Eponine?! No. No. It simply does not bear thinking of.
Dude, you blew it. Cool idea, almost enjoyable. But that is just a little...no. no. Frances Ruffelle, somewhere, is shocked and appalled.
Well, well. I knew there'd be adverse reactions to the casting, but you can't please everybody.
1) I am using Aragorn as Valjean. He fits the role 100%. Frodo does not. That means Aragorn is NOT EVER going to be Marius. Faramir is Marius.
2) If Faramir is Marius, then the only other person I can cast as Cosette is Eowyn, as she is the only one who shares the screen with him AND they are a film couple on screen.
3) And that leaves Eponine's role open. And you're totally right, I don't know WHY I didn't see it before, of course Arwen shouldn't be Eponine, voila, GALADRIEL!!
After all, she has tons of scenes and lots of romantic moments and gosh, she's the ONLY OTHER girl in LOTR!! Yeah, I don't think so. And I wasn't about to cut Eponine out of the song.
I am not trying to translate LOTR into Les Miserables and keep all the relationships the same.
I am converting nearly 80% of the Les Miserables musical INTO LOTR and there are things that I simply cannot pull off unless it's cast this way. Now, you aren't the one putting imagination and care into this project so I can see why you'd be very narrow-minded. I didn't just throw this cast together, I thought it out the WHOLE thing through.
@themoggetchild Buddy, as a complete die hard Les Mis fan as well I have to say it doesn't matter at all. Of course Arwen is not involved in the love triangle of Eowyn and Faramir, it should actually be Eowyn looking on longingly at Arwen and Aragorn. But that clip is so well done and deserves praise. Leave it alone and enjoy.
Just imagine if 16th Florence had our technology, what wonders the great artist of the Renaissance would have created. You are a child of their creative knowledge and spirit.
this is very well done and well made. the mutiple clips give a really cool effect and there was obviously a lot of thought and work into this. Sometimes I lol-ed when I first saw who whas who, but it all fit really well. Goos job!
brilliant, really very impressed, how did you get the movie into your editing software, ive always wondered how you did it, im currently using final cut and just came on here for some inspiration and i certainly found it
I rip the footage from DVDs using DVD Decrypter, then use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files into AVIs so I can edit them.
Actually, I'm not familiar with Final Cut (lucky you!!) to give you a quick how-to, but you can join a video forum called FoolishPassionVideos (I'll post the link on your channel) and there are tutorials on just about everything, including Final Cut. :)
