MUFE's HD Microfinish is awesome but too expensive. I tried Sheer Miracle Extreme CloseUp HD Mineral Finishing Powder and loved it. Identical in every way (size, texture, performance) and half the price. I know you can get it on their site and I think at Amazon. Thought your viewers might like to know.
You have to use only a tiny bit and blend it really well in order for that to not occur. Since silica has light reflecting properties, it will tend to do that if not blended in properly.
This is the first time I'm posting a comment on YT -- I just had to say how much I enjoy and appreciate your videos. Your reviews are balanced, analytical, and practical. You're a wonderful communicator with a great personality.
A question and suggestion: What's the eyeshadow (name and company) that you're wearing in this video? I love the color and have been looking for something similar? if you're still looking for ideas, how about a product war between low-end (drugstore) products.? Thanks!
Actually other items are easier on my wallet than drugstore. Surprisingly Canadian drugstores are really expensive and don't have "BOGO" like US ones. Also, it's easier for me to swatch and get samples from stores like Sephora. But thanks so much for your suggestion :D
I agree about Canadian drugstores being pricey - I'm in Montreal :) When I travel to the US I try to get my cosmetics (high end or drugstore) down there -- much cheaper! Up here I've been using my optimum points from SDM - Shopper's Drug Mart -- to get some cosmetics. :)
i just thought that you should know that the coastal scents silica powder isnt meant for the face but the mufe powder IS meant for make up use for the face!
i'm not saying that the coastal scents one is toxic but i honestly wouldnt take the chance...
Fiona...this video was very very informative...I wanted to try the MUFE powder but it is expensive...I actually just bought MAC Prep n Prime which is exactly the same thing...I guess from now on I will be purchasing the one from CS...thanks!
Hey Donna Marie. From my knowledge, MAC Prep n Prime Translucent Finishing Powder contains cornstarch so it is not 100% pure silica powder like the two products I featured.
An important thing to note for any acne-prone skin should steer clear of any products containing cornstarch. The reason being is that it cornstarch absorbs moisture which will promote bacterial growth and ultimately make your acne worse.
Product Wars is my favorite series on YouTube so please don't stop making them! I love how much preparation that you put into them instead of some gurus who just repeat themselves for ten minutes and say things like "I really really really like this product" but can't verbalize why they like something.
I would like to see a product wars between different products used to foil eye shadows. Right now I am using Fix+ but I want to know what else is out there to use.
About the HD thing... It sucks! It made my download rate skyrocket! And since I have only a few GB of download/upload per month, I began to hate this HD feature! And, indeed, it doesn't change anything (besides your download rate!).
Great review! Enjoyed it a lot! Thanks for sharing!
Ya i just ordered the CS one too....The reviews are raving about it...if u read the reviews on CS...they are all very positive...for 4.00..u can't go wrong..Poor m.u.f.e....they're really takin a beating on their powder...lol..I've known about this for a while now..which is why i ordered it...Can't wait to try it..!~..Thanks for sharing..!~
I absolutely LOVE your Product Wars videos! I watch a lot of tutorials, hauls, and reviews on youtube and your Product War videos are hands down my favorite. The videos are incredibly informative and objective. And your presentation is well-researched and you are very personable. PLUS you also take the time to put all that information in the sidebar! So awesome! Keep up the great work!

@fionaman even if i use a pinch, don't wear any foundation that has spf in it, and blend it out, i still look white.
i guess it was never meant to be lol.

Could you please review the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil and Shu Umuera Cleansing Oil? Thanks!
sammietr 2 years ago
Thanks for your suggestion but I don't own the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil, have access to purchase it, or the interest to. Sorry.
I have used the Shu Umuera Cleansing Oil in the past and loved it.
fionaman 2 years ago
That's too bad. I guess Fancl is not a very well known brand to review. It had great reviews on MUA. Price wise, a lot lower than Shu Uemura.
sammietr 2 years ago
I know Fancl, but it's just not available where I am. I'm not using either right now but yes I stopped using Shu because of the price.
You should purchase Fancl and let me know how it goes.

Aww thanks so much for watching & commenting on my video. From what I can remember, I was wearing:
- MAC eyeshadow in Parfait Amour
- MAC pigment in Push The Edge (came out with the Make-Up Artists Collection)
- MAC eyeshadow in Carbon
- Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero
- MAC eyeshadow in Scant (came with the Holiday Fascinating Ruby Smokey Eyes Palette)
I actually did do some product wars with drugstore products. Don't worry there are more episodes coming soon and some with drugstore items!!

Have not seen your drugstore product wars videos -- yet! But thought they were be easier on your pocketbook :)
You're welcome for my comments :) and thanks for sharing re: the eye makeup!

It's at your own discretion as to what products you put on your face. I read an interesting post that is related to your statement:
mizzchievouz[dot]blogspot[dot]com/2009/02/silica-powder-is-it-safe-to-use.html
Unfortunately you cannot post direct links on the comments section, so you will have to remove the [dot].
