super to ultra is actually very easy...try it in training mode. its just never used because its a waste of ultra unless like in this situation the 3 hits from the ultra kill the opponent.

and its not combos or reaction time that makes daigo so good, its mind games.

The way it was explained to me is this. If you're holding DB and hitting LP+LK, you'll tech if they go for a throw. Otherwise, the LK will come out. That's at least one option select. I imagine there are more, but i'm still a noob.

Option select is where you use a certain input timing for a blank attack hidden in your current attack designed so that you use a single input technique for a single attack, but you get cover if your attack is avoided.

You only need to use the one input and what comes out depends on what the opponent does.

An example is doing cr.LP x2 then inching in and doing it again while hitting HK at almost the same time as each LP.

If they keep blocking, you keep doing cr.LP; but if they backdash the crouched jab, a sweep will come out straight after and sweep them.

I beg to differ though. Besides Daigo's mind games, a big part of his success in fighting games is his very quick reaction times especially in dishing out supers and/or ultras at critical times. I've watched a lot of Daigo videos and his reaction times really do play a big part in him winning a lot of matches.

Play against the best for at least five hours a everyday after work... that's what Daigo does in Tokyo. It's just practice and muscle memory as well as good knowledge of the matchups. It's not rocket science or predestination.

Probably because he's a seasoned fighting game player from way back (from early/mid 1990's I believe). and he's an active tournament player. That's why he has developed his own distinct style with his Ryu. Tournament level play really does improve one's game so much because of the level of competition involved. Cheers.
