anyway, between halo2 and halo3 the story is covered in the halo uprising comic series. not read it myself, but master chief gets captured by the covenant. Ackerson also gets captured and tortured, and he gives up the location of "the key". but yeah, if you read the comics then you'll find out about this scene even more i think.
