  • What a captivating song. And the boy singing is as beautiful as both the song and its delivery.

  • 5 dislikes? more like 5 douchebags.

  • this makes me want to go to cali!

  • Greg West of Billy Boy On Poison brought me here.Thank you Greg! Ryan, you're amazing.

  • looks like 4 people are out of state folk

  • This song truly speaks from my heart and had me in tears by the end. I was born and raised in California but spent the last year living in Germany. Joey Ryan truly understands the love and appreciation one can have for their home (California). One could not put together a more beautiful string of words to descibe how truly wonderful and unique California really is. It's the place for me...

  • @DaAnthoVid ...and even the Germans love this beautiful piece of music. - Hello from Hamburg.

  • @DaAnthoVid I love California - so as a California native what do you think about what's been going on with tech in the Bay Area? Do you think the culture of thousands of H1Bs, Phds, and the rest have killed the laid back atmosphere? Did google kill the relaxing atmosphere? And what about the gang problem in LA? I've been to Cali a few times, and I feel the "typical Cali" image put into my mind is California of decades ago. Am I right or wrong?

  • @goodbeerfinder100 Personally, my image of California holds very true to the scene where I first saw this song in a video on Vimeo called "Stella's Shasta Adventure" (Youtube won't let me post the link). The city and area that I live in is certainly still maintaining that laid back atmosphere that I love. While things might be changing in the south, I can only speak for the North State where I live.

  • @goodbeerfinder100 Well, I'm an LA native, but I'm currently attending Stanford (for almost 4 years, I'm going to miss this place when I move to the east coast this year) and the atmosphere is still rather laid back...I visit Berkeley and SF quite a lot and the atmosphere there is also pretty relaxed. As for the gang problem in LA..I feel like that type of outcome is typical of urban settings? (whether in CA or in other states). And the gang issue is only present in a few parts of LA...

  • I know a few PhD's - they can be very laid-back folks. Away from the major freeway corridors you will find such beauty and personality. Every city probably has bad areas, but also sweet neighborhoods - even cities with the worst reputations like Oakland and Richmond in the Bay Area. What hurts culture here is the car-oriented isolation and sprawl of suburbia, where you have to get in your car and drive to the park or the store; and the endless strip malls and parking lots.

  • i grew up in California and my family relocated to South Carolina....this song tugs at my heart strings and brings tears to my eyes

  • I know this comments like 5 months old, but South Carolina isn't exactly the worst place you could move to. Infact its probably the best state in the union.
