Here in charleston, sc I think they were very scared of getting shut down. We had a permit for an area the size of our biggest gay bar. They were scared we were gonna get shut down but besides some dumb ass trying to bump some people with his car and one old lady thumbs downing we had more "horn support" than anything. We stuck to the sidewalks and obeyed the signals until we got to City Hall. We were told if the cops came to just go home...I'll be damned if THAT was going to happen. :)
i was there. it was great to be a part of the experience. my first protest, first walk and everything. i felt a bit bad for stopping traffic but drivers in chicago are always in too big of a rush anyways. they can stop and smell the future one day out of the year.
I agree that our rights are non-negotiable but to the average conservative we just look like angry fags that are taking over the streets with our 'gay agenda'... And I try to avoid seeming like something that Ann Coulter can talk shit about.
This is very true. People like Ann Coulter always say that liberals keep conservatives between a rock and a hard place but there's no respectable, mature middle ground between angry-marching-in-the-streets civil disobedience, and staying in the closet.
I don't think stopping traffic made us look very good... but I guess it conveys that our message is urgent enough for thousands of people to clog the streets with angry demands...? How do you feel about it?
Man, I wish I would have been there marching!

Civil disobedience is an appropriate response to the removal of civil rights from the LGBTQ community. Our rights are non-negotiable.

Well if it is any encouragement, there were just as many angry straight people there as well.
