Some students showed me this video on the day I decided to attend Penn State. It seems like most of the campus participates in this amazing event. The one girl I spoke to was a member of the blue band and she was a leader in THON. So I'm going to back up the others who said that you don't have to be in a Greek organization to participate.

welcome to the PSU Family!!...THON...is the most amazing thing I've ever seen...and I'm a PSU grad (85) but my son was a THON captain last year..I'm the one who has being corrected by others who posted here that it is NOT just a "greek thing"...if you want to raise 7.5 million for kids with cancer (including an old High School friend of mine ...his kid is in this video..I found out during THON weekend...hadn't seen him in 25 years)....then you will get the chance...and see you at THON 2010!!!!

Thanks so much! I'm actually a senior in high school, so I won't be going to PSU this year yet. However, it's the college for me, so I'll definitely be seeing you at THON 2011! Penn State is definitely a family and I can't wait to join it.

cool...see you at THON 2011!!...and if you're really into it...you should be a captain...it's a lotta work in the first year...hell just adjusting to College life the first year is hard enough...but I'm sure you can do it...(ie..good grades and participating in the biggest College fundraiser in the world)....God Bless ya...keep in touch 'cause if you need any help...my son will be more than a captain in 2011...I guess...heh...

rbs is right christianaa...my son was also a Lion Scout (give tours to prospective PSU parents and students) and they sponser a Kid With Cancer...so he is right...the clubs also sponser kids...you will love PSU

Hello and welcome to Penn State..You dontneed to be in a sorority to joinTHON. You can get involved in many ways, but it is all for the same cause. FTK...It doesnt matter how you get involved, but when you see a child who is sick with cancer, and all his worries are taken away atleast for the weekend, and you see how strong these children are, anything and everything you could possibly do, whether it be greek or independent, is entirely worth it.

welcome christiana...I'm a dad of a THON captain...one thing you have to know is THON is a greek thing...so pledge a sorority and if you are willing to be a dancer then it will put you in good standing...I'm not sure cause even my son's Frat had a girl dancing..so I think the dancing thing is open...but THON is a year 'round fundraiser..so if you join THON get ready to work your ass off all year round...and if you want to dance....well god bless ya...46 hours...but when you see the kids...

also, yes greeks are very involved in THON...but theyre not the only ones...join a committee or one of the several other groups too if you want. it's really open to anyone that wants to be a part

I am extremely proud of every kid I met at THON...as a PSU alum...and the father of a THON captain...it made me so proud and confident that our country is going to be fine with THESE future leaders of tomorrow...they ARE exceptional...
