i was at windsor i live there and it was a amazing sight how he pulled out of it was great skill it is safer to hit the water on the belly of the plane and he did just what he was taught he hit the water hard and how her got back up i don't understand but i will remember that in my home city amazing race cant wait till next year

i said in another posting that it was pure luck he didn't crash. looking from this angle on this posting, it was instinctive skill that stopped a disaster.

Yes he got disqualified but also it was due to a mechanical problem so he could not compete anyway... was a fantastic final race anyway... weather held just perfect!!

Aside from the near disaster that this incident almost was, does touching the water (as opposed to Touching the Void) disqualifythe pilot from competition?

I just watched another video from a different angle which shows that he was pulling a lot of G's and rolling out at the same time resulting in an accelerated stall of the low wing and a resulting roll in the wrong direction. (I'd be scared s-less after that and never race again unless it was above 2000 AGL!)

Hard to say if he ran into his own vortex (wake), encountered a left-over vortex from the helicopter or ...he just got a little disoriented with which way was 'up' for a split second?

I was scared that he was goina lose it. Im hopin that it brings about some safety measures, but I also hope it doesnt change the face of the sport.

Also hope he gets to race in the morning! Cant wait for tomorrow!

I was right in front of that ( Windsor Side ) when it happened... i was recording the first half of his run, and my camera died right before that happened... scary close call!
