Can someone tell me what all the paint that were used on the acrylic part and the reason as well and ty to bill owen and modmen for making it you are awesome
What area would you say a can of the metal flake paint can cover? I'm thinking of following this guide for my NZXT vulcan and want to have an idea of how many cans of paint I will need.
I love you guys, this stuff is all so awesome to watch. Ill be giving custom painting my haf 912 a shot on Monday once it arrives and I've gone over it, wish me luck!
hey have you guys ever used the snap on triggers for spray paint? they work great and they are cheap! it gets to be rough on the joints in your fingers after all that pressing when you spray paint normally :)
Why use acrylic instead of aluminium or metal, when it's going to be painted? has it anything do do with the look, or does it only help on the weight?
Why have the PSU under load while you start it up? I've been using the jumper trick for years, and haven't heard of this. Every PSU I've looked at has had atleast one built in fan, so wouldn't that suffice?
So the show is good, but really 4 episodes to do a pc build is ridiculous. Also people want to see builds and such that they can do themselves. Not everyone has access to a mill machine for crazy cut outs and such.
@MonsterMawd I thought that might be the case and might explain why I didn't quite get the durable finish I wanted on my last mod! Yup, I've managed to source some self-etching primer over here (it tends to be called etch primer or acid etch primer) - they are a local company too! I assume you cant use self-etch on plastic and should instead use a plastic primer or vinyl paint?
Beer is important too, but miller light? D: Sorry I'm from the state of beer and cheese so I had to say it.
Is it really pronounced "mooshkin"? I've always pronounced it like munchkin, but with the sh replacing the nch. Kind of reminds me of the multiple ways I've heard people say ASUS.
Hey guys! first off, Great show! keep it up! next is a request. You've shown off how to paint a Fugly ass mouse to a PC case. Can you guys show how to paint a PC monitor? Thanx! looking forward to watch more of this.
@elektra54, just follow the same steps, but skip the "self etching" primer and use "Flexible primer" as basecoat, before color coat... OR skip primer altogether and use KRYLON brand Fusion paint for Plastic.
@oreno11 I imagine you only need to sand until you remove the top layer of material, so you have effectively sanded down to a new "layer" of the surface so its nice and clean, not worn.
I doubt you have to sand out all of the paint, seeing as how the tutorial in this video, it wasn't sanded all the way down to the grey aluminum.
@MonsterMawd lol yea coz no where on the internet actually showes you how to do any of this stuff, thats why youir vids are so dam awesome, i so wanna get into doing this sort of thing :-)
This is my favorite episode yet. I love seeing the build come together. Great tips for hotwiring a PSU. Oh and tell Brad to finish the drywall in his paint studio!
Ive always had my psu under load when testing but since nowadays they all have fans on the psu I wonder if it still needs a load... hmm... Loved the show keep em coming!
First of all you do realize these mods take hours to even a week to complete especially if there's paint involved. And the show needs to be at least 10-15 minutes in length so they cant show just 1 piece at a time. It actually makes sense to do the show bi-monthly to give those of us with small attention spans a lot to look at. They want to show us professional work not something on the fly and sloppy. I happen to like the product placement myself since I also build custom PC's.
Excellent looking and presented show guys. It could easily be just another show, but you guys know your audience and your art. Well done! Keep them coming!
Not sure why they used a black ice rad.. high FPI which would require higher rpm/cfm fans to get the most cooling. It seems that case mod would want to be more silent. Why not have gotten a low FPI and just a tad thicker rad?
If you don't have room for a external PSU to power fans, I've wired a 12V transformer from a phone charger to a standard 3-speed case fan. This means I have an external case fan cooling my external drives, which has 3 speeds and can be turned off with a rocker switch - very helpful.
Another great Show Bill ... its really getting going now buddy ... and looking forward to the next ... I like the way the custom build is coming along ... seems to be fitting together quite nicely ...
@Sludacris8 I get cuts on my hands just doing basic wiring and water-cooling installs. How do you not have cuts and calluses when you do all these crazy mods? Of course most of the cuts I get are after drinking and being pissed off when I screw up sleeving my wires..
when I first saw your trailer for the show I did think this was going to be the clever and experienced modders out there., and would not apply to Mr Average (me). I watched the first show and thought wow just what I want and excellent presentation. Keep up with the great show EXCELLENT !!!!!
