In Lion, you go to the bottom of a window until the double arrow appears. Than you drag the bottom up while pressing "Alt". In this way you move the opposite border too, and the menu bar will reappear.
@stolevole Do you know how to take off the Jdownloader icon from the menu bar? Or at least how to change it? Sincerely my eyes are bleeding every time I look at it.

Just tried this with JD.... absolutely dowsnt work,,, the window flickers, the botton border moves but the top stays put =(

Here is another solution:
Go to File -> Settings
Click "User Interface" under the "Basics" catergory.
On the right hand side, uncheck "Enable Style (skin)"
Click the "Downloads" tab at the top and when prompted to restart JDownloader, do so.
Life is not back to normal
