It's really pointless getting this phone with the new Nokia Windows Lumia being released soon......This phone won't have many apps available and won't get any new ones as the OS is now discontinued..........My advice, wait for the Lumia........that's what I'm going to do!
No matter how brilliant the N9 claims to be, I will NEVER be loyal to Nokia again after my experiences with the N8 and Nokia 'Care' service. They fucked me around so I've cost them dozens of sales at my job since. Fuck you Nokia Australia.
How come the front camera doesn't work :( I've downloaded the app "simple mirror", but the quality is awful and there is no video calling. Why have a front camera when it cant take front pictures or video call?
I don't understand why so many Nokia haters would watch an Nokia Ad. Has our society disintegrated so much that people will click on a video for the sole purpose of posting a hate message?
dammit why did you decide to kill of Meego had a go of it in stores and it was way better then the competition. Pity its going to have like no 3rd party app support meaning there is no point me getting it. i really wanted to get it ah well guess ill just settle for a galaxy s2 or maybe one of the lumia 800.
@fpsBeaTt dont see how informing you that you are of the 40% makes me a redneck hick who need to evolve. Im not American so dont think i would be a redneck but i guess what ever makes you feel happy. Im happy with my degree of commerece accounting and also applied finance. btw if you have a degree in computer science why are you using and iphone?
@coppersn4ke alright, I removed my comment because I thought I was being a bit harsh on some random that made a brief ill-informed comment; now I see I was perfectly correct, so let me now rip apart your idiotic comment piece by piece.
First of all, I highly doubt you have a quote “comerece” degree, as you can’t even spell it correctly, or use any semblance of grammar or writing skill in any part of your post. Secondly, a degree in commerce: applied applied applied maths. Bravo. cont.
@fpsBeaTt i dont really care about spelling/being tired/ grammar when commenting on youtube. It does bother me if you dont believe me and its bach of Commerce: accounting as well as a bach of Applied Fin. Double degree not double major. The fin side is more about learning how to arbitrage, option strategies, pricing real life project decisions etc. so yeah little bit of maths but fairly useful.
@coppersn4ke Applied finance: applied applied applied applied applied maths: I just had to laugh.
Secondly, I did not make those statements just because you said I was part of the 40%. You said the “40% DERP”, implying I’m a derp for getting an iPhone. I also find it hilarious someone criticising my purchase, someone that has no knowledge of computing or what’s involved in creating a unified, cohesive and enjoyable software usage experience.
@fpsBeaTt Wrong 40% derp is clearly referring to you saying along the lines of but i've dropped my 5 times and nothing broken. The 40% derp was not questioning your purchase one little bit. It only question your ability to grasp the concept that you were not the 60% who have a broken screen. Id have to say that. I would have to say that something that requires jailbreaking to allow good features (See cydia market place for example) is fairly flawed. sure html 5 > flash but heaps still use it.
@coppersn4ke Thirdly, a redneck does not have to be American; your assumption that a redneck must be American actually shows you to be a bigoted redneck, and prejudiced against Americans. For example, I would not be surprised if you resided in FNQ (Far North Queensland), the redneck capital of Australia.
@fpsBeaTt nope actually Sydney it a suburb as far away from redneck as you can get. Normally when someone says redneck it indicates poor white trash from southern states of America. Oxford dictionaries seems to agree. All im getting from you is pure hate when i am giving none of it.
@coppersn4ke Just to bestow a little bit of knowledge unto you, and in doing so dragging you a little further away from your redneck, ignorant and bigoted nature, here’s the definition for you: ‘One who is ignorant of and vehemently bigoted towards one or more cultures/races/characteristics of one or more entities in life.’ I think that sums you up pretty well in terms of your primary school grammar, mickey mouse degree and vacuous and ignorant persona of iPhone users/owners.
@fpsBeaTt Still dont see how im a redneck. If i'm Asian does that make you the bigot for your blind hatred towards my youtube writing or lack of knowledge due to english maybe being a second language?
@coppersn4ke And lastly, to address your last piece of asinine vitriol, I’m a comp. science major that has a MacBook Air and 27” Thunderbolt display for development/work/productivity purposes, an iPhone and iPad 2 for everything else, and a self-built PC for gaming/storage/other power usage. I get what’s best for my purposes. Why do I have an iPhone? Because I don’t buy crap; it is the best built, most feature rich, stable, cohesive and supported experience you can get on ANY smartphone.
@fpsBeaTt dont know about well built you require a case most of the time just to ensure it doesnt break. My ipod fails to add songs when only 1 song by an artist has an album name in the details. results in only the 1 song coming up under that artist. However if i have a second song with another album name it works perfectly for that artist sounds great to me. Yeah um list features that android doesnt have that ios does. siri is currently the best but android still has equivalents 3rd party apps
@coppersn4ke Android is a piece of unstable, fragmented crap that’s applying the Windows framework to the phone world, which just will not and is not working (as most Android OEMs are making a loss). iOS and possibly WebOS (if HP can get their act together) are the future of mobile computing in the tablet and smartphone space. Funny how I know more about the business side of things in this area without a commerce degree; shows how much that’s worth, huh.
@fpsBeaTt congrats you have read Engadget or other reposting tech new service. the figures just state that the cell/mobile phone units of moto, LG and Sony are making a lose. This doesnt draw the conclusion that its solely because of Android. these companies also use other forms of OS for smart phones and it doesnt state whether they have huge research and development which in US accounting must be expensed and not capitalized which results in profitability distortion. So yeah keep up the work.
@coppersn4ke Now, if you decide to respond to this, make sure you understand what you’re talking about, and don’t try to condescend to someone that dwarfs you intellectually and in knowledge on the subject. I normally can’t be bothered responding to such stupidity, but hey, I guess you just made it too appealing to me.
@fpsBeaTt ah as they say pride comes before a fall. I have no idea how intelligent you are and you have no idea how intelligent i am by reading a few quickly typed youtube comments. According to many Meego is probably the most fluid OSes atm but its dead on arrival so doesnt really matter. The new windows mobile 7 is pretty good once you get over the stigma attach to windows. Personally i prefer Android because i can customize it and tinker with the layouts etc without rendering my warranty void
@AdamBoy64 as soon as they can apparently - my guess is January. It's launched in Singapore so not far off most likely. Areas that got the N9 (ie, Australia) will probably be getting the Lumia 800 last.
Absolutely stupid thing to buy if you care about future upgrades. Nokia is dumping Meego for Windows, meaning this system is a dead end. It also means Android is now the only really decent OS out there for phones.
Its also amazing how my Nokias from the N95 way back to the 6100 and beyond.. still work today the same as they used too.. where my 3GS from last year is already running like shit and its got 20X the tech in it. Yes I bought the iPhone 4S, yes it kills the Nokia till WP7 phones get here at least.. and yes, NOkia will always have the best reception and battery life.
I will never buy another Nokia product again after my N97.
Also the N9 is DOA, Nokia's Chief Development Officer (Kai Oistämö) has even said that Nokia is only planning to release 2 Meego driven phones over the next 3 years. I wonder if Nokia will abandon their Meego userbase like they did with the N97?
I once had a nokia phone that was " touch screen"....you had to practically hit it with a hammer to get it to do anything, that phone has made me never trust Nokia ever again.
@Boredemised All touch screen phones were like this before the iPhone. I had a Sony Ericson that was the same. Like an ATM screen, you have to bash it. It's because they used 'resistive' single touch screen technology. Apple didn't event multitouch, but the capacitive multitouch iPhone in 2007 was the first mass marketed consumer device to work this way, and everything since of any note has worked this way. But it took Apple to prove the expense was worth it.
When the screen is swiped from the video playback back to the homescreen, it's swiped from the top of the phone down, and swiping down closes the app, yet it still showed up on the multitasking page. *personal victory*
@urmumzfat Swiping from the top down doesnt close the app by default, you have to apply this feature in the settings. By default it's just like swiping from any other edge
I'm a big fan of Nokia, but they have fumbled big time with software. WP7 is their only hope to remain a top smartphone maker, and they can do it - if they'd just bloody announce/release something officially!
N9 is great but MeeGo is DOA and should be allowed to rest quietly while Nokia tries to get on its feet with WP7
I remember when Nokia was the biggest phone seller in Europe, good quality and high price! that was like 10 years ago. Nokia barely improved since then and still put their product in the non-affordable category. Is anybody at the nokia went out from the building and looked around??? or just microsoft made them blind? Hahoooo? We havegot HTC, Appel, Samsung etc... wake up idiots!
Had a play with this at Telstra, most impressive Symbian phone I've seen. Pity its dead in the water, after all Nokia is committed to windows phone. And the new W7 phone is based on this it seems. (see gismodo)

Also @ABostonElite what's the point of your comment, really?
@tommytopgear - agree. You guys should design some Android devices. Personally - I much prefer the android/ios interface over tiles. By having both OS'es you won't alienate those who prefer the traditional icon layout. As of now - I'm using the Galaxy S2!
@tommytopgearReloaded u realise theyve already signed deals to move to Windows Mobile 7 right? and pls can the world stop acting like android is the bees knees its an obvious knee jerk reactionary clone that is forever sitting behind iOS on features, on hardware compatibility, on version control (ever tried to develop for android and seen just how many SDKs there are etc )...far more junk apps and personally Im not a big fan. It seems Nokia agree.
Geesuz Nokia! You are years behind the competition!! Nothing new and original here Nokia. I have had five generation of Nokia phones, and I can definitely say my next phone will NOT be a Nokla...
Look, Nokia, everyone knows that you are the creators of the highest quality phones. but you need to look into the more modern phones. Why are you not running Android yet, if you bring that out, I'd buy one straight up, and also, the aluminium look reminds me of the old, 2nd gen iPod Nano's, it's really quite outdated and has been used on far to many of your new release phones.
Thumbs this up so they can change their phones for the better of the users.
“It’s incredible how much you can say without saying anything at all”
Very clever pre-emptive response to ‘Siri’ there! All Nokia needs to do now is give the N9 a release in all the largest smartphone markets before the iPhone 4S gets out there.
@REICHSKE Nokia are skipping lots of countries which normally would see every N-Series phone. I'm in the UK and it looks like we're not getting it. No idea why.
Nokia World 2011 takes place here this month but it's probably just going to be about launching the Windows Phone stuff. I'd rather have an N9 though. I'm okay with waiting, but if Nokia intended to release the N9 here, they should get this phone out to the media and reviewers now, to steal some of the hype away from Apple.
The touch screen nokia's i have had like the 5230 and the n97 have been very unresponsive and hard to use with the screen. iPhones have very good touch screens and are easy to swip across and tap apps, dont ruin any more phones and get a good screen for your phones. Hopefully this phone has its act together, not that im intending to buy it.
Why do all these ads look like stupid apple phone ads.

Very clever pre-emptive response to ‘Siri’ there! All Nokia needs to do now is give the N9 a release in all the largest smartphone markets before the iPhone 4S gets out there.
Oops, too late.

@ZPBander Really? N9 is being sold, iPhone is still at least a week out for some markets, probably weeks or months before more remote regions get it.

@bringbackmore2stroke
I haven't tried it yet, but everything I've researched, suggests it's just as good in that area.
I own an iTouch 4G & iPad, plus I owned a iP3GS for ages too...

@bringbackmore2stroke
Those models you mentioned are pretty ancient...
Resistive def. has it's benefits depending on the application, but capacitive won out eventually.

@bringbackmore2stroke all yous are the older resistive touch screens... ofc it'll feel unresponsive. Go try the newer capacitive touchscreen nokias (N8, C7 etc..) there heaps better
