I love how he put his foot in his mouth back at the begining, and couldn't even pull it out. Only a complete oaf would consider people who were unconnected from civilization to just be a bunch of 'savages'.
It doesn't matter if it's your favorite movie or if you say "Pocahontas isn't historically accurate, so I hate it." It's the message that really matters, and how the characters influence you. John Smith grew throughout the movie into a wonderful man. He's still immature, but he proves that people can change for the better. Pocahontas was a headstrong young woman who showed you how to fight for what you believe in. The movie as a whole taught you not to judge by appearances. That's what matters.
@linapredator See and thats what is so savage about an outlook that pins down white or coppered skin. Americans sure, but it was human beings in general, and lost ones at that, who destroyed the earth and propagated it's acceptance to look at the earth as if it a dead thing, something that can be waisted, just land to fill with consumerism, debt, and lost dreams.
@linapredator well fuck you, this movie is about acpeting other people, be you white, black, Asian, Hispanic and Native American. so i think the savage one is you.
i make disney music videos/crossovers. i recently uploaded a sad video i made with kayley from quest for camelot and john smith from pocahontas. i rarely get any views on my videos, which is really upsetting considering how much time and effort i put into my work. id appreciate if u quickly checked out my channel
I am 15 and I will stay a kid for as long as I can. This song is absolutely beautiful. I love it and I never get tired of hearing it. It shows a simpler way to look at life. The BEST way to live life. Staying in touch with Nature is what we are here for. We are nature. We should love and appreciate it. Not tear it down and forget it, just to replace it with tall buildings and cement.
Movies like this left children with messages that could help them live by better morals. And fuck all those "illuminati" and "sex" subliminal messages no one noticed them until recently so therefore no ne cares...they left a positive message
People need to take these lyrics to their hearts. Humans have grown to live in generations of war and materialism, when we should have lived among our roots to mother earth. That is why 2012 will destroy us and set us back to the savage days to save us from mankind's destruction. Nature will always win and I'm willing to sacrifice my life to save mother earth.
why can't disney do these kinds of movies anymore? I don't like the 3d computer animation crap :( The cartoons are a lot more creative, and brings the movie in to life a lot better, such as in brother bear, mulan, tarzan, pocahontas and others.. now we have movies with fat, ugly round headed characters :/ although nemo and incredibles were awesome, but they don't have to make ALL the movies computer animated :(
@plumpybumpy because Disney knows 2d is seen by outdated by children and think they won't make very much money so they make sure they don't by not working as hard on the 2d features. Think about it Tangled did much better then The Princess and The Frog. Disney got so lazy in the late 90's that if I remember right Anastasia (with all its flaws) did better then whatever Disney threw out to compete with it.
@dinerdashgal44 Me,too!(about being 13 and growing up with Disney)but The Princess and the Frog and Tangled was pretty good...u should give some new stuff a chance...but NOTHING compares the classics!

@angelpinay9 Go watch it! NOW! Its amazing. I won't spam and list a site where you can watch it free because there are plenty. I'm sure you can find a link on youtube too. But watch it! Pocahontas is wonderful
@LoboWarriorForever mhm...the artists for pocahontas dropped the lion king project because they thought it would be unsuccessful. the animation department then recruited stronger artists and creative persons to make the lion king and that decision made the film a hit! :)
@LoboWarriorForever I think that the poster was referring to how Pocahontas was expecting to be the exciting, blockbuster animated feature that everyone would rave about. No one was expecting The Lion King to succeed to the extent that it did. They thought it would be a B movie. This pushed the animators to create a movie that exceeded everyone's expectations, and could hold its own against Pocahontas. Both, are truly amazing movies. Masterpieces in their own rights.
I hate to ask, but would you be able to send me or post a link to download this song? I can't find a good quality english version by Judy Kuhn on mediafire......and Pocahontas just isn't Pocahontas without Judy Kuhn =] Help a dude out???
@Tiburon1830 Sorry. I don't own the soundtrack, all I own is the movie. So I can't help, maybe someone else here (watching this video) can help Tiburon1830?
@LoboWarriorForever Actually Pocahontas was in production the same time when lion king was on! Most animators preferred to work on Pocahontas as they considered lion king inferior to Pocahontas! But the 13 best animators took on the task of Lion King! That's the reason that the lion king was a greater success than Pocahontas!! :)
Every time I hear this song now as an adult, I can't help but feel so bad for the Native American Indians and how badly mistreated they were. R.I.P. Pocahontas (1595-1617).
@BRACEwits its meant to mean *lol* that.. he learned things about this world/mentality he didnt even know existed..kinda hard to explain.. hope it helps D:
@SANNAFABICH lol no, I mean because they're both such strong female characters, it'd be interesting to watch a conversation between them. they both had to accomplish a lot of things in their times. also, they look similar facially in their movies, which is why I said they're like sisters.
@randombuddypotato Umm... you realize Pocahontas was 12 in real life (if the story even was real), and she didn't exactly do much to prevent the genocide and oppression of her people, right?
@BalmungSama0 lol yes, I know she was 12 in real life. and though she may not have prevented the genocide and oppression of her people, that whole issue isn't the reason why she's famous (more or less), is it? she's been romanticised by films and novels. she did what few else had done. she became famous in england, maybe as a curiosity, or as a surprisingly noble lady from a land presumably of "savages"...
anyway. I was referring to the disney characters, so it's all rather irrelevant I think.
The imagery during this part in the movie is just...utter beauty!!

I swear Pocahontas and Mulan are sisters.. I'd love to see them meet. That would've been interesting.

@randombuddypotato you mean like girl on girl action?
SANNAFABICH 1 year ago
@SANNAFABICH lol no, I mean because they're both such strong female characters, it'd be interesting to watch a conversation between them. they both had to accomplish a lot of things in their times. also, they look similar facially in their movies, which is why I said they're like sisters.

@randombuddypotato Umm... you realize Pocahontas was 12 in real life (if the story even was real), and she didn't exactly do much to prevent the genocide and oppression of her people, right?
BalmungSama0 1 year ago 2
@BalmungSama0 lol yes, I know she was 12 in real life. and though she may not have prevented the genocide and oppression of her people, that whole issue isn't the reason why she's famous (more or less), is it? she's been romanticised by films and novels. she did what few else had done. she became famous in england, maybe as a curiosity, or as a surprisingly noble lady from a land presumably of "savages"...
anyway. I was referring to the disney characters, so it's all rather irrelevant I think.
