Both these stalwarts of Hindustani classical singing were originally from the same village in Karnataka and Pt. Mallikarjun Mansoor had an edge over Pt. B.S. Joshi in quality of his rendering of Khayals bringing audience to a trance in Vilambit Laya which was his hallmark of singing and he used to finish in Vilambit laya most of the Raags requiring top order quality and guts which he possessed in abundance fighting cancer disease till the end, surviving till the ripe age of 80.

Outstanding singer of Hindustani classical music, Pandit Mallikarjun Mansoor, he should have been awarded with Bharat Ratna at par with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi who was awarded Bharat Ratna a few years before during his life time. Perhaps International popularity of Pt. B.S. Joshi was the cause for his Bharat Ratna. But Pt. Mallikarjun was simple enoungh away from the glamour of International Popularity.

Nevermind, it's raag Paraj I'm pretty sure. But what about the raag that starts at 23 minutes. I think it' Deshkar, but could be bhoop as well. Which is it?
