  • Ahh, the Willys Jeep. Normally I would agree with 106MMTurbo and say dont scratch it, But its a Willy's, they are tanks and were built for going up creeks in the war. So grab another beer and have some fun :) You have any vids of the engine replacement? I know you have the one of unsticking the clutch.

  • @SuperKONR dude, where the Fuck have you been? :) havet heard from you in a long time. Nag, sorry man, should be footage, but there isn't. The clutch got stuck by drew, abandoning ut in a creek over night. Coward

  • @tommartyn I've been building a metal homemade tractor, and a crapload of schoolwork, and completely remodeling my shed, now called the "chop shop" by popular demand :) I saw in one early vid it was under a tree with an engine hanging from a branch. Drew always screws everything up lol

  • @SuperKONR

Nice man! :) hope you are getting footage of the home made tractor.

Yep :) thats where the engine swap went down, it took a while i think. there was a big gap of time from when i first took the engine out, till when lowered the new one in. I got disracted :)

  • my ranger could do that.... if i put it on top of a willy's

  • @craveman85

    hahah

  • @ 0:02... is that a dildo above your shoulder?

  • This Jeep looks enough like the old MB's that you can almost imagine some guys your age in a Jeep like this chasing the Germans through Europe in 1944 while watching your video.

  • @OHVTrails1

yeah, they're pretty damn identical. the engines are the same, the trans's are almost the same, the CJ is the T90, and i think the MB is a T85 (no syncros i think) The headlights look different, Stick out more on a CJ, kinda hidden for the MB's. MBs didn't have tailgates... Maybe :)

  • This is awesome man, would like to see you take a little bit better care of it though, You can restore it and drive it on roads rather than creeks, I know, I know, thats what the willys were meant to do but they don't makem like this anymore.

  • @106MMTurbo

Yeah... i get what you're saying. But seriously. For the road, why not drive something thats made for it. Something that you can do over 45mph without hurting the engine, and can handle at all at those speeds.

Like my 65 dart gt :) That things awesome on the road.

The reason to have a CJ-2A, is just to do stuff like this. Its not a road vehicle. This is why they are awesome. It really would be a shame to not do this.

  • Timely advice. Invest in a winch, just in case the creek rises.

  • @rickey5353

:) oh its spent some time under water :)

  • @tommartyn HaHaHaHaHaHa....Way too funny man. Enjoy the ride my friend!

  • Don't do what they call a j turn you will regret it!

  • @auntiedara7

:) eh, depends on the situation. We've done them :)

  • I think they had two batteries right? I assumed they were wired to make two 12vdc into 24vdc. I know my grandpa has a Willy's that still runs like a top and it has two batteries. I thought they called them flat fenders because of the fender design to differentiate them from the newer less off road capable flared fender jeeps. I've always heard "flat fender" but maybe I'm wrong!

  • I gotcha, like the military dodge and chevy trucks, 2 12v's wired through each other for 24v. Nah, these all just had 1 6v battery, and no place for two. someone must have put a 2 battery setup in your grandfathers. These things love to run well :)

You're right people do call them flat fenders, Its just that all the different CJ models up till the late 80's have flat looking fenders. I just think there could be better distinctions. Like the engine, or the hood is really flat comparably.

  • Is it still 24vdc or have you changed it to 12?

  • @jaylor75

Thanks alot man! :) Yeah, CJ-2A's and CJ-3A's are some pretty cool machines. Better description is Flat head :) The engines are in block valves, like a lawn mower, so the top of the head is flat.

These were all originally 6V, i did convert it to 12, but you don't have to change much. the starter works well with 12V. Its a CJ, not a military jeep, but i don't think the military ones back in 46 would have been 24v either. probably all 6. that was the common voltage back then :)

  • Now that a cools jeep. Always wanted a flat-fender!

  • Sounds like my Ford 8N tractor, And this is a great video, but I hate to say it but be careful your going to break it, yes its tough, but its 50 or 60 years old too, and reving the engine and driving it into the riverbank doesent help it. and what happend to the left rear quarter?

  • If it breaks, i'll fix it :) Gotta rev the engine some to go through the stuff it was made to go through.

The left rear quarter was a really stupid mistake on my part. Right after i first got that engine in, and got it running, i only had one 6v battery, and it was almost dead, wouldn't crank. so i was pulling it backwards up a small hill so i could push it with my hands, then jump in and pop it. It wasn't starting, when i pulled it back, it was in reverse, started, hit tree

  • @tommartyn Thats true! those Jeeps are easy to fix at least :) And thanks for the quick response!

Hey um I want to get one but I don't know what to look for and I don't have much money, what do you recommend? I want one to fix up and drive around our farm with.

  • For sure man, super easy to work on.

No problem, the whole point of me putting videos up on youtube is to talk to people about this stuff.

You might have to spend up to 500 bucks for a decent one. But you never know when you might get lucky. Always ask people that you think might have some old cars or trucks at their houses. sometimes people just want to get rid of stuff thats been siting for years. Anything from a CJ-2A to a CJ-8 would be an awesome farm jeep :) CJ-8's got a bed! :)

  • @goldcoastflyer om gonna buy and restore one myself, however im gonna use a new more powerful engine. i don't expect it to be a 100% show piece with an accurate engine, in fact all the only thing i hope to change is the engine.

  • THAT is driving a Jeep like Jeep likes to be drivin, awesome vid, NICE JEEP!

  • @Etubewatchin

Thanks alot man! :) yeah, that thing is a ton of fun to take through the woods :) What they're made for! :)

  • i love the old willys jeep but it seems like the 4 cylinders just didnt have enough power ide stick a strait 6 or v6 in it

  • @pudgeya1

nah man, these things are what they are. 60HP flathead 134ci powered beasts. :) Lots of torque in these things, and plenty of power for what i do with it. I don't want a buick v6, or a continental built "hurricane" inline 6 in my willys :) Very happy with the "Go-Devil" 4cyl

  • fuckin awesome man.. they sure dont make em like they used to!!! love watchin all your videos dude

  • @Tubbed69

Thanks! yeah, these beasts are pretty well made for sure. Glad you like our vids man!

  • I love it.

The jeep seems to be 51 - 53 It does not appear to be a military configuration.

The axles and grill indicate that age , the lights and gas filler hole suggert it did not have the stove pipe type filler the old army ones had.

I had a load of these things, they are a blast.

As for the poor 4X4 comment, RUBISH! It is a great 4X4 considering the age. Follow that in a Subaru! or a new Compass for that matter.

  • @Alexmcgruer3

Thanks man! :) Yeah, its definitely a 46 CJ-2A, theres no doubt. All CJ-2A's are non military. Lighter duty frames, Different grills, tailgate, different trans. (i think the military's were T85's, this is a T90) no black out lighting.

But yeah, the 51-53's were CJ-3A's, which had single piece glass winshield, and different turnsignals. They actually identify it as a 46 (and the vin)

I'd gladly follow my Willys with my Subaru Brat :) It would do well too :)

  • @tommartyn I just had to go looking and you are spot on right.

I have never seen a civilian one before. I have owned 3 M 38's and 3 Land Rovers as well as a bunch of other stuff. A ford, Land Cruisers (which were great) a Toyota Diesel PU.

The old Jeeps are what made the small vehicle 4X4's possible.

  • @Alexmcgruer3

I've never had a land rover, but would like to try one out some day. They seem like well made machines.

Gotta love the Toyota Pickups :) The diesel's are very rare around here though, i've only seen 2, one 2x4 and one 4x4. I'm sure they do incredible, we've had alot of gas engine ones.

For sure, the Jeeps started the whole 4x4 trend. There were very few automobiles before them with 4x4, and none were successful.

  • @tommartyn I bought my !985 Toyota PU T Diesel new and put about 250,000 KM on it before it was badly rusted. I worked as a bank courier and that was the best vehicle for the 700 KM per day I was driving. The Land Cruisers also Diesel were the best vehicles I have ever driven. I had the station wagon versions. They were not quick but could hold highway speeds with a trailer.

The Land Rovers were all old when i got them and they were fun but they were also high maintenance.

  • @tommartyn I just had to go looking and you are spot on right.

  • Awesome! Classic REAL Jeep stuff - not these homogenized prissied-up livingroom-on-wheels crap people buy today! I wish you had better treads on those tires, then you wouldn't lose so much traction in the mud.

  • @yaktur

yeah, some of those military tires would be awesome. These tires are cool though, they're from the 70's, and they look awesome on it. being so thin and tall. They also have about 80 hearts on each tire. there is one heart for every lug that sticks up. they are on the side of the lugs. Delta's

  • Man you sure did get a lot better on the clutch than you were in the last video i watched. Before it sounded like you were about to stall. now you're plowing through everything! I love it! The ww1 veterans would be proud! cant wait to see more

  • @Kent133

:) this is actually the oldest video I have on tape of driving this thing. For about 4 years the clutch was stuck together, so you had to start it in first and then use the syncros for snd and third. Then I took the engine out and un-stuck the clutch. Early last year. I have a vid up of that. :) I hope some veterans do see this thing in action, and. Remenece about these awesome beasts

  • @tommartyn I want one now so badly. That thing looks awesome! And i figured it was an earlier video because the other one that I watched you took a bench seat out of a dodge ramcharger to use. Haha your knees where smashed into the dashboard. I bet that hurt!

  • Great driving !!!! Great post !!!!

  • @DET832

Thanks! I love that willys :)

  • thats most of my life to, romping around in the mud with any vehicle I could get my hands on. we own many many vehicles.

  • @morgandonovan11

hahah, nice man :) The cab on the willys has to be awesome in the winter. Mine must have had a cab at some point in its life, because its got a heater box on the firewall :) You guys every try out some toyotas?

  • I got me a '48 Willy's jeep CJ-2A with a cab. u r right, these things are beasts. We own 6 willy's jeeps total. willys jeeps are so incredible, and they will do just about anything you need them to do.

  • too bad you can't appreciate the classic you have.

  • @frekijsimpson

... You have NO idea how completely wrong you are. To even be able to write something like that, YOU must not be able to appreciate how incredible of a vehicle this is. These things were MADE to be used off road. Thats it. They put lights on them for the road and all, but they were literally MADE for off road.

When things were designed to be used a certain way, and then you use them in that way, That would be called using them properly.

  • @frekijsimpson

I'm going to send you a video or 2 of us actually using this CJ-2A hard. because this video, isn't even anything at all. Its such a light duty use.

I can't even imagine what you would use one of these for if you had one... but it would not in any way honor or show what these machines are capable of.

In war solders fell in love with these things because of how well they did off road. There is no greater appreciation, then to use this for what they do best.

  • @frekijsimpson

I recently had to get rid of 30 inspected cars because the township cracked down on me. I was only allowed to keep 2. I chose my 65 dodge dart gt, and this beast. Those are the 2 out of 30 cars i loved that knew had to stay. And i don't appriciate it?

  • Sorry tommartyn, you guys need a complete course on 4x4 off roading. Don't put this old girl in such stress because you can't yet drive her.

  • @novasscott

    ????

Seriously... Most of my life is driving stuff "off road" we've had well over 100 different vehicles here, cars, trucks, 2wd, 4wd, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, 4cyl, 5cyl, 6cyl, v6, v8, gasoline, diesel, Flathead, overhed valve, overhead cam, automatic, manual, So so many of the vehicles didn't have brakes, (including this willys) We have a crazy amount of experience doing this kind of thing.

  • When we romp, the goal is to have fun. to try to do stuff that is unusual, and difficult. Everything here would be very very easy for pretty much anything 4wd if you intentionally were trying to make it through the easiest as possible. And that, isn't fun, or interesting. so we try to do stuff that shouldn't work, and try to make it work. It really tests the vehicles we do with it.

But also, this is ABSOLUTELY the easiest we EVER were on this Beast. Look at the other videos of it.

  • sick flat fender cant beat the price either.

  • @TessaandJon

yeah man! got lucky with that one :)

  • i want one

  • @TheEthman13

Thats one of the things i wish for the world. that everyone (who wants one) could have a free, government granted willys. Starting off brand new. Everyone deserves to get to drive one of these awesome, incredible machines.

  • @TheMoisio

    ?????????

What the hell? Are you talking about the same vehicle thats in the video???

Don't you realize that this is an actual jeep? This is literally all they were made to do! And actually, they were made to be used HARD. This is an extremely, Extremely gentle ride through the creek. I wonder what you would say if you saw one of these things ACTUALLY getting used as they're intended...

We have a decent amount of videos of using this thing to its potential. They Love It.

  • @tommartyn yer these were designed to be abused, abused, and abused some more.

  • If you put chains on it it would go anywhere

  • @mercmarc

I'm sure it would, it pretty much does anyway. you should check out our newer videos of this beast :)

  • @mercmarc it goes anywhere without chains

  • hey is this jeep badly rusted on the frame? wondering cause my grand paw has one and the frame is rusted. these jeep look realy fun and my grand paws hasent ran in about 20-30 years just wondering if it would be wort getting. thanks

  • @1970wheelhorse how bad? rusted through the frame? or just lots of rust on the frame? Either way, if its kinda cheap, you should get it. these things are amazing. nothing else like them. They really are so much fun to drive... :) even really slow. they're just so unique.

Have you seen our never video's of this beast?

  • those are sick man but 1 question does it got 4x4 possys or diff?

  • @smallenginemods

It is an awesome Jeep :) We have newer way way more intense videos of this machine doing crazy mud action and evertything, if you want to see any of them, just search my videos for "willys"

Its 4x4, and both differentials are just open. no posi devices. But the front and rear normally pull posi just because the thing is so light, and well balanced. unless you're high centered or something... which we do sometimes. :)

  • Were do you guys find all this cool stuff?

  • @workensmart

From all over the place. Just years of collecting cool cheap old things :) when ever we can find them.

  • sweet jeep man! my dads uncle had one an used it for years as his " deer truck" back in the 50's the thing just wouldnt die

  • @alliedace

yeah man, they are pretty unstopable. :)

  • yep the drivers side is. check out HMVF under Willyslancs

  • @willyslancs

oh yeah thats right! :) i forgot, the drivers one is vacuum, and the passenger is manual :)

  • mine passed its m.o.t yesterday not bad going for a 66 year old!!!

  • @willyslancs

Nice! :) Yeah, not bad at all :) Wipers work and everything? Are they the vacuum one's like this has?

  • nice truck mate, had my 44 Willys for 25 years now , still smile when i drive it......

  • @willyslancs

:) i understand why :) Theres nothing else like it. they are incredible!

  • Near the end of the video i see some tractors

  • What all did you have to do exactly to get it running? I'm thinking of buying one that isn't running and getting it to run. However, I know nothing about vehicles.

  • I got pretty lucky with this beast. when i bought it from my uncle, it came with an extra engine, bolted to a military generator. so it was a perfect engine, maybe that hadn't ran in 30 years or so, but a running engine. So all i had to do was put it in, and it pretty much worked.

I would say though, if you know nothing about vehicles, this could be the kind of thing to start on, because they are so simple compared to newer things. Easier to learn on :) Can always ask for adivice too.

  • Cool story of how you got it. Pretty similar to mine. Mine sat in my neighbors yard since roughly 1980. Saw it as a kid, about 4-5 years old, and wanted it ever since. I first saw it when it still had paint. Finally got it in 2007. Mine was free though!

  • This reminds me of the old trike i had... so old and worn out but it worked great

  • You guys should fix that thing up a bit as you go! seems to be in pretty decent original shape! finding one with an original engine, tranny, and workable body is tough!

  • exelente

    muy buen video

que bueno verlo en accion el el barro

    a restaurarlo ahora y a seguir divirtiendose!!!

  • She a real beauty, and still kicking so powerfully,i just loved the sound of it,if i were to own her,i will shine her up,new body paint, some nice wheel and i will take her to the city, you are so lucky to have her.

  • That's a nice classic Jeep, personally I'd restore it but then again Jeeps were built for this purpose. Love the sound of that motor most idiots drop in a 350 chevy and ruin the Jeep. No offence to the 70's and newer ones that is acceptable but in a classic one like this keep it original.

  • They're so much fun using them like this too. :)

I'm not down with the 350 thing at all. These flat head willys engines do sound awesome :) The AMC 304 V8's that came in the 70's and up jeeps sound pretty cool too :) Cooler having a stock 304 then a 350 :) Espeically considering that the 350 would probably be attached to an automatic trans :(

  • Yeah but for wheeling a 350 is ALOT cheaper to maintain and parts are readily available. Alot cooler having the original though.

  • These people should have there nuts cut off. The unAmerican Bastards. WTF?

  • What people?

  • Seriously fuelman524 who the fuck are you talking about?

  • @tommartyn fuelman is just jealous that you have such a beast of a jeep here!

  • My brother Tom (BTW) got his Willys in 1973 for $300 and drove it in the creek too. Man you are having so much fun! Tom got his stuck all the time and dad would have to come to the rescue ( no cell phones...just little 8 year old me running home). He drove it to Colorado in 74' after he graduated. Came back with a buck in his pocket. My brother had all the luck. He also bought a 1953 oval window Beetle ( the rarest Beetle ever- most 53's are split window!) for $100. I played in a lot.

  • That's a creek? Looks more like a mud pit. God I wish I had one...

  • Yeah, it kinda got about 4 times wider from us driving through there, so it became a combo creek/mud pit. A Fun area. The first time i went across the little creek there was in my 74 cj 5 :)

  • Great video !!!!!!!!

The best way, with the engine sound and no music.

    Wonderful !!!!!

  • i'm 120% with you! I hate it when you watch vids and its just music... Sucks. I like hearing each vehicles sounds. all part of the experience :) Especially with a 46 willys :)

  • I´d like the others take your video as the best example how to do cars videos.

    Congratulations again !!!!!!!

  • I would buy it

  • SOB runs good...You can see why we won the war

  • i own a 59 does anyone have a cheap radiator i have a ugly bmw one in their now its awful

  • Its nice seeing someone having fun with their old ass jeep. It would be cool and all to have a fully restored one but then you would feel bad driving it like it was meant to be driven. Ive got a CJ3a that i plan on driving the crap out of. If it breaks, ill just fix it.......

  • :) Thanks :) Yeah man! they're made to be fixed if they break :) and you can still get pretty much every single part for them :)

    Have some fun :)

  • nice willys man, my friend has a 46 cj2a and I would like to get one someday, don't listen to that faggot trailer boy, hes just jealous because he lives in some shitty trailer park and can't afford to have the same kind of fun that you can. hes an asshole.

  • yeah, he is an asshole. We have alot of fun man :)

  • hell yeah he is.. you stole that thing for 500 bucks. around here any of them under 2k are all hacked up

  • nice vid tom :) 4real

if u can make it road ligal again,.that will be cool

lol at 2:40 the tractor that ditnt made it out

    5outa5

  • haha! yep :) the drive belt broke a few months earlier :) so thats where the beast stayed. then the creek flooded, and washed the one side of our old bridge onto the tractor :)

  • whahaha lolol,.

o well maby next year april or somting,u can save the poot little tractor LOL :)

    keep it up,.

  • He seems to have a thing for old Willys, when I posted my 48 climbing a little hill last winter he started all that tree hugger crap on me too. You've got a good looking 2A and you're enjoying it! I like it!

  • :) yeah man! thanks :) its a shame, because the earrth does need to be protected, but not from a few people having some fun with some awesome vehicles, and willys deffinatly need to be enjoyed and used for what they were intended :) and that guy doesn't really understand either of those things. gonna check out your 48! :)

  • Where do you live at? I want to come offroading with you in my Jeep. I have a 46 CJ2A too, and my family has a bunch of military Jeeps too.

  • Dude. Your doing a disservice to your Willys driving it in the mud. When you get bored with driving it will sit in your backyard and rust away.

Or you will blow the motor hauling your fat girl friend aroud. Wood do not heal easily. Your raping the nature dude and if youi think your driving a piece of history. Ground and dirt have history that get washed away by erosion. Get a life or a job or scrap that junk pile. I vote for Obama and I know you did too. Time for a change

  • fat girlfriend? What is your problem? I put up some videos of us having fun with awesome old vehicles, that we're very very lucky to get to have fun with, and you need to attack me for it? These willys, they were NEVER made to sit around. Or to just be driven on the road, they were meant for driving through the mud! If i take care of it it will last for ever. The woods do heal easy, what we do might change the shape a little, but its nature, and its made to grow, so it just grows new.

  • and all the little ruts and stuff, our tires make? makes all sorts of habitats for awesome animals to live, and breed in. i've seen so many types of frogs and turtles this year.

You, for what ever reason are an asshole. you need to attack me, and i never even asked you to watch my videos. this is just me and my friends having some fun.

I would never in my life vote for any of those lying scum bags. for anyone. Obama probably would be the person i'd vote for over anyone else if i had to

  • i'm not raping anything. raping it, would be selling the land, so that all the trees would be cut down, and they would bring in huge machines to level everything and put up stupid stores, or housing developments filled with horrible people, and roads. THAT is a bad thing. THAT is something to be mad about. We, are just having some fun, and nature doesn't mind. i've lived here my whole life.

I will not let my willys waste away restored, sitting in a garage. They are amazing

  • YOU, are something else man, seriously. You are messed up. You leave a comment on my page saying, "your pathetic dude"

then you have it set up so i can't message you, or leave a comment on your page... You are seriously a fucked up asshole. i'm going to post in parts, what i tried to send to you in a message. Fucking coward.

  • Seriously man, WHAT is your problem? I've not done a god damn thing to you. Why, are you finding it necessary to be an asshole to me? I don't know you, You don't know me, if you wanted to come over and romp some tractors, and vehicles, i'd be totally down with it. So WHY, do you need to be mean? What is the fucking point?

You don't live here, You know nothing about this place, You are just rambling off information without knowing the situation.

  • I'm going to continue having a good time back there, with my friends, and nothing you say is going to change that. We are not destorying or raping the earth. And most importantly, ITS NON OF YOUR BUSINESS WHAT WE DO OUT THERE. There is no reason to just pointlessly put more negativity out there in the world. There is already way way too much.

    Tom Martyn

  • If he wasn't driving this Jeep, it would probably be sitting and rotting in a field somewhere. I have one of these Jeeps, and I know they are fuel efficient and are very little harm to the environment compared to other vehicles. Why don't you stop worrying about how others live their lives and learn to live your own.

  • do you go on everyones posts and talk shit? assholes like you are the problem in this world. anyone who would scrap an old willys is a moron, but then again, you did vote for obama. why dont you do the world a favor and jump off a bridge. leave people alone, he didn't do shit to you, fucking faggot. go to hell.

  • Dude you need to restore that junk pile or off to the scrap yard. Driving it around looks like a bore and your raping the environment

  • ????? What is up with you? restore it... so that i can drive it around on the road? and have to worry about getting it muddy or scratched? Why are you even watching these video's? seriously? You don't understand this stuff. You think my jeep is a junk pile for some unknown reason. every one whos come around and seen it, and driven it loves it! they can't stop talking about how well it runs and drives, and how much fun it is. Its the opposite of a bore. The woods heal easily also.

  • yeh :) I'm restoring my DD bronco atm, took a break off my Rockwell Bronco! Which btw is huge hehe :) Well, soon lol. It's not far off though ;)

  • Dude, the 4X4 on that thing sucks, But THAT IS ONE AWESOME JEEP!!!!

  • nah, i was driving like a pussy. the 4x4 works perfect on that thing. doesn't have differential lockers or anything, but nothing does normally unless you put them in. yeah man, thais thing is fun. the tires aren't that vicious either.

  • @stevensj13 Im pretty sure that that thing is kicking ass for what 31" tires if that

  • @stevensj13

It's not the 4x4, its more crapy tires and open diffes. Probably has no lockers. But I'm with you - Awesome Jeep.

  • Bro!! Life's short, and just have fun right?:) Lol, that sounds dumb coming from me because i hate life lol but yeh, i build my trucks, work my job, and bog my mud..so i guess im havin fun too!

  • haha, nice, thats what its all about. :)

  • Bro, your such a hippy lol...when your old and telling your grand kids stories...boy are they in for a surprise lol

  • haha, won't have any grandkids, or kids, but maybe nieces' and nephews. who knows. I don't know if i'm a hippy, but we have some fun :)

  • man you should at least fix the clutch

  • Thats my plan

  • cool.. much more useful with a good clutch LOL

  • Awsome- yep theyre definitly made for thrashing - back when they were amercian made and out of REAL steel.

Speaking of the 'midnite run' - one time my buddy took me for a ride in his wrecked unliscenced monte carlo once- no front fenders/hood, no headlights - no mufflers and it had winter knobby tires on the back- since he lived in the 'sticks' at the time, we took off down the road flying in the middle of the nite , burning rubber at intersections, doing some 'turfing' - scarey and fun time.

  • Mitsubishi were making real jeep's in japan, under licence from Willys from 1953 til 98. they kept making real jeeps way after the jeep company started puking out wranglers. they were the next model from this, CJ-3B's. and they even put small diesels in them. So they kept it going, when america stopped. and there is still another country out there that makes jeeps from this design. Not americans though ;)

Yeah man, sounds like that was a crazy night. haha, monte carlo's are awesome.

  • The Jeep that won the war! : D

Have you seen the original Army trailers for these? So funny that bit with the two men in it with a trailer on just totally abusing it! lol : D

Did you know you put it in the animals and pets section on category's?

  • haha, animals and pets huh... haha, guess i should do something about that. thanks! :) had no idea.

Yeah! i've see some old videos, where the're are soldiers just totally bouncing these things all over the place like crazy.. :) awesome stuff. made us treat this thing kinda hard a few times :) Gotta get the clutch unstuck, everything back together, and more footage of this beast! :)

  • Awesome! I'm glad you still have this thing, and I hope you fix it soon!

  • Yeah, me too man. i miss driving that beast.

  • i remember when the willys was in flames this one time i think there was alchohol involved

  • haha, i was checking that out today, the first layer of the tarp is completely gone. :) just burnt away... what the fuck happened in there?

  • that is one fine and agile piece of machinery!

  • haha, you know it! :)

  • Willys rules! I have 2 CJ2As (not running) and an MB that runs, but it has a CJ grille on it. Wish I could find an original MB grille. I used to have a Willys truck and a Willys wagon.

That L134 has a lot of bottom-end grunt. Once when my clutch linkage and brakes were messed up, I shifted my MB from reverse to 1st without using the clutch, while rolling down a hill, and it didn't kill the engine! I think it lifted the front wheels for a second. I had to do that, to keep from going in the river.

  • hahah! man, thats awesome. its crazy the stuff that can go down when the clutch doesn't work, and you have no brakes :) yeah, 1'st isn't syncronized either! :) i wonder if thats why it went in easier... some how. for a while, i was starting mine in neutral, in low range, shutting the key off, and then right before the engine would stop spinning, i'd drop it in 1'st and then turn the key back on and it would just pull forward :) Every check ebay for a grill?

  • Not really. If one turned up, it would probably cost $1000. I know where there is a complete rustbucket MB for $800. If I could afford it, I would probably buy that one just for the parts.

  • yeah, probably. you never know though. could get lucky :) thats probably an ok deal, does it run?

  • Nah, it's such a rustbucket the engine is probably froze. "course, it would freak the folks out if I showed up, bought it and started thrashing on it right there, pouring ATF and kero in everything until I got it going, and drive it away.

I pretty much did that with my MB, then drove it home with no brakes. That is the ultimate way to get an old flatfender home. Even cooler is to just do the minimum to make it wheelable, then limp the old warhorse past built-Wrangler types on extreme trails.

  • those things r the best damn jeeps to ever run!

  • Yeah man! for sure. Nothing else has ever come close. A little scary without a roll bar, but other then that perfect.

  • haha kno what u mean. with no roll bar its like you have to drive and hang off the side in case it flips u can get the hell off. lol

  • haha, yep, gotta be ready for that shit. then you'll probably be ok :)

  • That thing is great, the design, the practicality of it, and how strong it looks is amazing. Plus it's a 4 banger.

Damn, you're just smiling the entire time your driving it.

I think you're prepared for the end of the world with that thing.

  • haha. :) yeah. for many years i had kinda dreamed of these things and wanted one. plus i grew up across the street from this one, and would see it every once in a while in the shed. NEVER thought it would actually be mine. Its amazing, the way it is totally just designed for this kinda thing, and how strong... all of it. I think they're good on gas too! i'm smiling just thinking about that thing... gotta fix it! :)

  • we have a willies truck. that thing will get threw any snow you can throw at it.... and if it gets stuck it has a winch connected to the trans :P

  • haha, nice! those are pretty much just like the willys right? but longer with a bed, and different cab and stuff. These things are the best :) Man, i wonder if i can get a PTO winch for this beast... :)

  • It's amazing how that willys just worms around in the mud slowly and seems to always get through or up a bank. Great vid Tom.

  • :) yeah man, i've GOT to get the clutch unstuck on this thing. its the most fun ever to drive. miss the beast.

  • Wow...that was one hell of a description.

That thing is a beast off road.

  • haha, thanks man. yeah, its a crazy beast for sure. Its practically all it was designed to do. its not anything like those wrangler things. this is seriously designed to romp through shit.

  • god i need to fix my Willys trucks so bad

  • Nice! what year? got the hurricane 6 in it? or this engine?

  • one has a hurricane and the other has a the 4. I was told the hurricane ran last year. The other has some rust in it i think and needs a rebuild. You are so lucky to find one for that cheap.

  • Nice! They are sopposed to be awesome engines :) I was really lucky to get this one so cheap. for sure :)

  • i love this kinda shit, right on man, cant destroy a willys, i would love to have one here

  • I wish everyone had at least one willys, :) they seriously mght be one of the coolest things ever. theres nothing not cool about them.
