@LNA3igD It sounds like: G C G D to me. Sounds like he's hitting octaves of G starting in the 2nd verse and continuing to generally tear it up with those throughout. That piano (and Joe) sound awesome.
@DCarnold84 Optional Correction: The piano is flat so I guess you could play it all a half step down... it might be easier to do this on guitar than piano. Great tunes sound good in any key anyhow.
@DCarnold84 Thanks, just got a chance to sit down at my piano to try it out. My piano must be flat as well, because the G C G D sounds good on my piano but the half step down sounds better on my guitar. I'm gonna go mess with it some more, thanks again for the help.
It's called No Reason and Joe wrote it for the film... Then he plays Let the Good Times Roll--this is basically the Shirley & Lee R&B version but I think it's based on an old Cajun song, Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler.
the rude boy story about range gange isnt true. Ray did a little stint as a rodie but he was mostly just a friend of the band and close mate of joes. He was asked to play himself in film but was relunctant to do it at the start.
Why oh why did the Rude Boy soundtrack, from which this comes, never get officially released? I'm OK - got my copy - but it should be in the public domain....No Reason and Let the Good Times Roll. We miss you Joe.
I was shocked to see Joe rockin' on the piano with a particular tune harkening back to the early days and roots of rock n roll way before the Beatles. My intellectual curiousity about this video (which I purchased) TPRM enlightened me about what happened then in the late 1970s which I was totally obvlivious to *being a preteen* I knew only a little about the Clash....this video educated me more and I've been acquiring and learning from since then onwards....
I purchased The Punk Rock Movie video in 1994 in San Francisco. That really opened my eyes. So many bands I never heard of and other band just barely familiar with such as a very young Billy Idol singing very unfamiliar songs or John Lydon, as a matter of fact, seeing that video was the first time for me to see the Sex Pistols and hear ANY songs and performance and in their context of the times....
this is my favorite scene in rude boy. thank you so much for sharing it. whenever i remeber joe strummer, i think of him singing that last song & smile. rip joe strummer.
MustafaHamsho stfu. He was severely talented and so many have seen that. So what if the Clash didn't top music charts everywhere? It doesn't mean a thing. The Clash... well they are so incredible it often sends shivers down my spine. They come quite close to being perfect music wise. At least in my opinion. R.I.P. Joe.
Sod off. You clearly the kind of person who thinks that if you're not topping the charts, you must be untalented. Have fun with your boring music, then.
Before my time but those lyrics are true. He really did love music. I didn't know he could play the piano. I can't understand how someone like Joe Strummer can push up daisies and people like Mick Jagger AND Kieth KEEF RICHARDS with his drug addict ass be the ones still alive?
By the way the answer to the previous person's question is yes this is from Rude Boy. Alas the scenes in which I appeared ended up on the cutting room floor.
A legend ! Your interprétattion is really original. I love it. :D
Thumb up !
