I think that Honda GX35 engine is 35cc. But i dont know what is the RPM of this engine. Can you tell me ? I would like to make a chainsaw bike with gripping on rear tyre.(chainsaws have about 7000-10 000 RPM). What speed can i get from 46cc chainsaw motor and 3.2HS??
civic type R engine would kill the back tire i tried it on a full carbon it doesnt work out too well (Broken arm or leg if your unlucky) it does a fucking wheeley when you let it ripe and you go upside down
Very nice! Simple, easy to install and an enjoyable ride. Only problem, at least in my state, I don't think it can be road legal. Here we need to have turn signals, brake light, maybe mirrors and I think a certain type of brakes per code. Maybe there would be a way to also run a generator and have a small moped battery to power turn signals and such. If there's a will there's a way!
you can build a bike exactly like this yourself for half the price of buying this kit and seeing the gear ration on how small the spindle is you can probably go no faster than 20mph and building one yourself you can use any engine you want
Check out the magnetic motor kits for bikes ,more power, cleaner, no fumes, and you can charge the battery overnight at home.fantastic much faster than this thing,no offense
the Driver Roller has teeth small which produces friction and bike runs but due to this life cycle of tyre of bicycle will reduces to one month only :-) sproket type engine kits are good only
can all bicycle engine kits be mounted to any size bike?? I have a 21" mens mountain/road hybrid and the kit info says to mount it on a 24"-26" mens, but a lot of these vids have it on bikes smaller than that... please help
that is probly the worst way to motorize a bike cuz it ruins tires and terrible power. get a kit from gasbike.net for like $150 and includes everything, has manual clutch (allows for push start and better in general), has throttle cables and handles, complete kit better mounting. its chain drive and engine is inside frame
Friction drive is simple and reliable. This kit looks a lot like every other friction drive kit. The in frame 2 stroke "China Girl" kits are much lower quality (rag joint spoke breaker, dangerous chain tensioner, cheesy clutch mechanism, weak engine mounting system, enough vibration to break steel frames, etc.) but they can be made to work if you have the time to fix things as they break. I've installed 2 China Girl kits and one Staton friction drive kit. There are rear chain drive kits too.
why was a one way bearing put on in the first place? whats the difference? will this mean the bike wont freewheel under higher speeds lke going downhill?
only the damn kit without the motor cost $140. motor can cost like $100. total $240.(without the cost of bike) not a good way to spend your money. I can buy a brand new minibike 4hp, 4 cylce under $250. Don't waste your money on these.
@beholdcaesar If thats the case you can buy a motor gas bicycle kit 80cc on ebay for your bike then. It includes everything you need to make your bike run on fuel under $110. I can send you the link if you desire.
@neverlast666 I already owned one of cheap ebay kits, , and they are crap. What you pay is what you get. This kit, attached to a 40cc Honda motor (that comes with 3 year warranty) should last thousands of miles with very little maintenance.
@jjualvare welli was told that by my dad and he was told by his mom and she was there for it.
when my dad told me he said that everyone would call me lier. i have listening problems and learning problems so maybe my dad didn't say he was the first one but he said that my great grandfather did come up with the idea and we could be rich right now
my great grandfather invented this idea. he first thought of it and built the first one. he worked for dupont and his boss heard about his invention, got him drunk, and made him sign the rights over to dupont. we would be millionars right now. most people might not believe me but it is true. my great grandfather got it patned and everything. all of those cc motors, without him someone might have come up with it but he did. he died in 75 and regreted that sign over till the day he died.
@flaflafla47 bullshit. look up Félix Millet, built a motorized bike in the late 1800's, and a sweet one at that. uses a rotary engine built into the rear wheel. great design. your gramps may have had that idea, but he was FAR from the first one
@PyRoViPeRaPaChE US$134.95 + shipping to canada = 184.42$ not 215$ that your talking about, I have paper work backing what im saying, will make a video as proof, not cool what your doing, as for local people that can drive to your store, yes maybe kinda worth 250$ i guess. and your getting the bulk packs of them so there proply around 100$ each kit for you, wow buddy.....NOT COOL!
i have a 24cc engine that i got from a craftsman leafblower. would it be the right size to fit this kit? i dont know much about engines btw. if not, any ideas on what i could do with it?
@mrmeatballs92 No that engine would not be compatible with this kit. Most weed trimmer engines use a smaller 54mm clutch instead of the 78mm that this kit uses.
@Rescue913 The kit comes with 2 diamond knurled steel drive rollers, 1.00" and 1.25" diameters. The 1.00" diameter drive roller will result in more low end power but less top speed. This is good for hill climbing or heavier riders. The 1.25" diameter drive roller will result in higher top speed but less low end power. This is good for flat terrain or lighter riders. The roller size that may be best for you also depends on the power of your engine.
@Heem24100 Top speed is about 30 mph with the 1.25" roller - some people claim to go faster. Either way you should keep it under 25mph - that's plenty fast for a bicycle.
the thing i like most about mounting it on a bike, is if you run out of gas, all you have to do is pedal to the next gas station. i have experience of running out of gas a few miles away from home on my goped, not only do you have to pick it up and carry it, you have to mix oil in with the fuel as well, which is hard to do when u need to have a precise mixture.
Do you know if there's a way to remove the clutch on those engines and just use the shaft? I'm thinking of a total 48:1 reduction through a gearbox and sprocket to a large cog on the left pedal. I don't need the clutch cause I want to be able to start the engine by pedalling.
The least expensive would be a 2 cycle China made import. Either a 43cc or 49cc works best. It's only street legal if you can convince the cop it is, which they usually will buy.
@jb1970ny Actually, in many states this is called a "motor assisted" bike and has less rules than for a moped. I found the rules once on the State of Florida website, but no longer have it. Make a copy give it to the cop.
Got the kit and engine yesterday. Took less than 1/2 hour to install on Schwinn Ranger following your video. Works great! Yes. It bolts right on and is already set up for a throttle with a cable adjuster built in. I would put this motor up against any other 2-stroke I have seen out there. I have a video of my bike on my channel here under my name Pirate88179 with more videos to come.
hey does anyone know if u can use a 49cc Scooter Engine with Manual Pull Start OR a 49cc/ Scooter Engine with Electric Start for an engine... i saw where it had the right clutch but i didnt see if it had the right 4 mounting holes to mount it on the bike thing??? can anyone help?
yes - it can be mounted to a bike with wheels from 16" to 27" no problem. Doesn't matter what size wheel you are using, the gearing remains the same with a friction drive system. If you use a chain drive system the gearing would change depending on the wheel size.
This is the cleanest set up there is.Even the flat surfaced tire is well suited for the friction drive. I think most of us would just really like to know part names and #s. Thanks so much for tearing your bike down and making the assembly video for us.
Most of the kit is from custom made parts. There are only a few stock parts like the bearings, quick release assembly and some hardware. Drive roller, engine channel, drive shaft, and U-bracket, and some clutch drums are parts we make.
Do these work when its wet, or if going through light water. Will it start to slip. Also whats the damage\wear and tear on the tire after a certain amount of usage.
No, they are really only intended for use on dry roads. The drive roller will slip when it gets wet - you can still ride if you get caught in the rain but you have to apply much less throttle and pedal long or you may damage your tire. You should expect 500-1000+ miles out of your tire.
is it street legal? cause it's loud or something... I want one cause i like bikes and sometimes i get tired so it would be cool to turn it on and go! :D what is a normal price for one of those?
because it's reliable, rugged, inexpensive, and simple to install on any bike. Chain drive is great if you buy the right kit which will run you about $550. The cheap chain drive kits you see out there for about $125 are basically toys and not reliable at all.
I was browsing the net this evening and saw your video. What a superb bit of kit. I am going to order the parts and give it a try, especially now that thanks to your vid, I know exactly what to do. Checked the websites you list and both companies ship to the UK.
Not sure if the wife will thank you though (laughs!).
yes the kit uses 2 bearings, one on each side of the engine channel. They are 1/2" ID x 1-3/8" OD with a retaining ring, high quality high speed style.
hey guys, i was wondering if i could use a 5hp Horizontal 3/4"x2.44" Keyed Shaft, OHC, Recoil Start, Constant Speed Throttle
honda engine instead of the one you guys used, it weighs 33 pounds so do u think it will be ok, as in will the frame support it? so please get back to me with the answer ty
that kit is so expensive..

For me the engine must drive the transmission and not directly the tires.

Would one of these kits be able to mount to a bike with 24" wheels?
123efyousee 2 years ago
yes - it can be mounted to a bike with wheels from 16" to 27" no problem. Doesn't matter what size wheel you are using, the gearing remains the same with a friction drive system. If you use a chain drive system the gearing would change depending on the wheel size.

Unfortunately the GX25 is not compatible. The older Honda GX31 and the newer GX35 are the compatible models with this kit.
jb1970ny 2 years ago
could i use a honda gx25??
footballstar124 2 years ago
This is the cleanest set up there is.Even the flat surfaced tire is well suited for the friction drive. I think most of us would just really like to know part names and #s. Thanks so much for tearing your bike down and making the assembly video for us.
mastersduhgree 2 years ago
Most of the kit is from custom made parts. There are only a few stock parts like the bearings, quick release assembly and some hardware. Drive roller, engine channel, drive shaft, and U-bracket, and some clutch drums are parts we make.
jb1970ny 2 years ago
about how much money does it cost?, and will it work on a bmx bike with smooth tires?
M4gicMonkie 2 years ago
Do these work when its wet, or if going through light water. Will it start to slip. Also whats the damage\wear and tear on the tire after a certain amount of usage.
PoliticalJames 2 years ago
No, they are really only intended for use on dry roads. The drive roller will slip when it gets wet - you can still ride if you get caught in the rain but you have to apply much less throttle and pedal long or you may damage your tire. You should expect 500-1000+ miles out of your tire.

does any motor work?
puke28 2 years ago
No, the engine has to have a 78mm centrifugal clutch - check out the website for info on compatible engines

TonyFirelli 2 years ago
You could always upgrade the small 1.5 L tank to a bigger one couldn't you? Make your adventures longer and more pleasant.

Briggsmaster 2 years ago

jb1970ny 2 years ago
how to u control throdle did u make a rig to do that or
ifackmenlol 2 years ago
no you do not rig it yourself - the throttle cable and lever style throttle come with the kit

How fast does this bike go in the end?
cptnsmelly 2 years ago
you will do between 25-30 mph depending on the weight of the rider and the engine HP.
jb1970ny 2 years ago
because it's reliable, rugged, inexpensive, and simple to install on any bike. Chain drive is great if you buy the right kit which will run you about $550. The cheap chain drive kits you see out there for about $125 are basically toys and not reliable at all.
jb1970ny 2 years ago
So, why friction drive and not chain?
szaki 2 years ago
I was browsing the net this evening and saw your video. What a superb bit of kit. I am going to order the parts and give it a try, especially now that thanks to your vid, I know exactly what to do. Checked the websites you list and both companies ship to the UK.
Not sure if the wife will thank you though (laughs!).
joeninety909090 2 years ago
how much does an engine like that cost?
GodFormedUsTM 2 years ago

Would a 33cc chainsaw engine work on these kits?
BadIdeas101 2 years ago
No, a chainsaw engine uses a smaller clutch. It would be a little too loud anyway, your neighbors wouldn't like it.
jb1970ny 2 years ago
Hey, How small of a bike can I put this on? I have a small bike and I want to put it on.
bluekavora 2 years ago
you can mount it on any size bike
jb1970ny 2 years ago

huuot 2 years ago
does the kit use bearings or bushings
gmodesike 3 years ago
yes the kit uses 2 bearings, one on each side of the engine channel. They are 1/2" ID x 1-3/8" OD with a retaining ring, high quality high speed style.
jb1970ny 3 years ago
thank you!
gmodesike 3 years ago
no that engine would not be compatible with this kit. any engine with a shaft will not work on this kit- it needs to have a 76mm clutch rotor
jb1970ny 3 years ago
hey guys, i was wondering if i could use a 5hp Horizontal 3/4"x2.44" Keyed Shaft, OHC, Recoil Start, Constant Speed Throttle
