  • He is having fun and sounding good as well. Great genes. Peace bro

  • i can find some church drummers better than this foolishness.....

  • @joshuajdthomas THAT'S NOT FOOLISHNESS...IDIOT!

  • I don't think people give enough respect to being a good musician and having good pocket as a drummer. It's not always necessary to fill up every 4th bar with 32nd notes and double bass drum licks; while that stuff can be cool, it's not always right for the moment musically. I think someone like Brady is employable BECAUSE he's entertaining to watch without being obnoxious musically. Also, this is only one video of him - how do we know he isn't as killin' as Brian based on one 2 minute clip?

  • @drumology2001

It's all about playing to the genre. Brady is right on for what this music calls for.

I saw a comment the other day on a Police video where a commenter was criticizing Sting's bass playing... saying that "if only Marcus Miller or Victor Wooten were in the band"... this commenter obviously has no clue about playing in context.

  • I hear ya, man! That's exactly what I was saying below; if it isn't super busy double bass drum crap, some drummers just completely disregard it. In many cases, less is more musically. Wish more people understood that.

  • @drumology2001 - Agreed. knowing when to stay the hell out the way is just as key- drumming, keys, singing - creating in general.

  • I totally agree with u about the good pocket and using chops tastefully and musically, rather than obnoxiously. however, I do not think Brady is as creative of a drummer as Brian. Brian doesn't use generic licks and stuff.

  • I won't dispute that...I really enjoy watching Brian play; not only is he totally into it in every way, but his phrasing and dynamics are just out of this world! :D

  • @drumology2001 - i saw Brady play years ago...and was SOLD from the first time....the pocket was just delicious and exactly what you are saying...he knew how to stay out the way and play just enough. I won't say the name of the band to put anybody on blast...but the drummer who had previously played with the band was good...but just did not quite get this point you are talking about - CONTEXT - know when and where to play. Brady is the TRUTH!

  • his brother is way better

  • totally agree. he's (brady) all jive!

  • Not even in the same league as Brian, still better than a lot of drummers though. Look at how hard he looks like he's trying. Looks almost unnatural.

  • You're nuts.

  • i like his brother Brian more lol

  • @Jake1124 Agree, he is alright and has a great sense of time, but Brian is a freaking prodigy man!! he reinvents the definition of jazz drumming!

  • Brady isone of the most respected drummers on the planet due to his groove. One of the most pocket slammin drummers of all.

  • and one of the nicest most humble people you'll ever meet

  • i dont know, i realy like!!

  • Solid? That's seems to be about it.

  • Hello, here I show them a video with Brady Blade in Buenos Aires, Argentina (mucho funk!!)

  • this guy is not at a very high level, hes well..., average

  • He's got a tight, solid groove with lots of feel. That's what the music's about. That's what wins you fame.

  • so true.

people appreciate the groove alot more then neverending drum solos.

  • Pocket pays the bills.

  • pocket also earns the respect of other musicians!

  • I agree 100%

  • Heeeyyy. Mapex.

    Cool

  • no doubt brian is better, this guy is just an ordinary drummer

  • this is not a good representation of his playing

  • good to know

  • Fantastic post. Thanks.

  • Brady is my cousin so suck on that one! By the way brian and brady plays completely different types of stiles so... They are both worldclass drummers.

  • Wow, Brian Blade is the best drummer and musician in the world.

  • Dude, Brady just doesn't feel the music like Brian. So, until he reaches that level, where he is truly playing with his mind, body, and soul, I'd say that Brian is the superior Blade. World class indeed. Go Brian!

  • if brady expressed in the same way as brian it would be stupid, he's different and he can play for sure! i prefer brian personally but i wouldn't say anyone of them are better!

  • @artikelmusic - EXACTLY!!! THANK YOU!

  • @ArmoniaD - WORD UP!!!!

  • brian's better.

  • difference cannot be compared, simple..

  • what are you talking about? a difference would be the only reason to compare in the first place. obviously theye're different. you don't compare things that are the same. anyway, you already said you prefer brian, so what are really saying here? i prefer brian, but he's not better? you don't really have an argument here. please go on about your life and have a nice day. (and by the way, aKinghtInTunisia didn't say that brady should express himself in the same way brian does...)

  • yeaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!! baby!!!!!! feel the groove!!!

  • Brian Blade's brother. Awesome drummers.

  • brady blade is a cool guy saw him at a drum clinic also hope i can hear him in real life soon

  • I went to a drum clinic with him. i won a few t shirts:D

  • i love this! i can listen to this groove all

day it's more satisfying than an o'scugnizzo

pizza! brady blade's groove is so damn deep

    it makes me crazy!

  • very nice grooveeee

  • I really like his drumming, saw him a few years ago with Emmylou Harris, Great drummer!

  • he seems like a cool dude
