  • wow, those sales people weren't doing anything wrong. They don't deserve to be put on candid camera and criticized for telling you protein is safe. It's a macronutrient, it's not dangerous

  • I can testify to this. I was taking in 300 grams of total protein a day. Including 3 shakes. Plus pro hormones. They did mess me up in a few year period. I am now cleaning out my entire system and not touching protein, except natural. Experiencing better results too.

  • i love heavy metal

    dont you???

  • The whole sales people not warning them about that was pretty stupid. First off they are quack nutritionist that sell placebos all day long. Second, the supplement industry is unregulated so much that they can put anything on the fucking label and it doesn't even need to be accurate. A lot of company that make the little shot drink like 5Hour have been caught putting more caffeine than shown on the label.

  • @theUSER101 The sales people didn't warn them, because there was nothing to warn them about. They may not have formal nutritional education, but it doesn't take much to know general information about supplements. Placebos? no, just no. I'm not sure if you know what DSHEA is, but the supplement industry is MUCH more regulated than you think. It's illegal for them to tell you that protein will make you put on muscle. I think I know what I'm talking about, I work at a similar store

  • @friskystapler Most supplements are placebos, that is an absolute FACT. I can show you fuck tons of studies showing things like Vitamin C for colds, Echinecea, detoxing, test boosters like tribulous, those are just some ineffective placebos, not to mention the entire field of homeopathy. DESHEA is put in place because of the deregulation in the industry. Sure you can same things build muscle, hardly anyone actually says "may" etc, including companies in the industry.

  • @theUSER101 I'm sorry, you're wrong. Homeopathic products are actually allowed to make claims while supplements are not. If supplements do make claims, they are required to have the FDA disclaimer. Salespeople are required by DSHEA to follow certain guidelines while selling. Most supplements are not placebos. You see, studies done on fake products, won't have effects, because they aren't real. there are plenty of respected companies that make quality nutritional supplements.

  • @friskystapler You seem to very uneducated in the supplement industry. When I say these things are placebos, I mean they perform no better than placebos when tested. I'm not saying everything in the industry is a placebo, but about 90% is. Homeopathic products are placebos as well, claims or not. If you believe in homeopathy you are an irrational nut case. Companies have nothing to do with anything, doesn't matter what companies produces vitamin c etc...it still is ineffective.

  • @theUSER101 I'm not sure you understand that a lot of supplements contain these vitamins and minerals from whole food sources. What is it that you mean when you say something doesn't work? If you take 1,000mg of vitamin C, you will get a nutritional dose of vitamin C. Now the reasons as to why people take supplements are where the placebo effect comes in. A supplement is what it is, no more, no less. Btw, I work at the vitamin shoppe

  • @friskystapler Take Wellness Formula for example, people take it to support a healthy immune system or to "boost" their immune system. It contains vit c, and a million other magical herbs that are supposed to do this.Studies show these herbs, vit are ineffective at doing this. Most vits are not wholefood and wholefood vits are the exact same on a molecular level, body knows no difference. The supplement industry is a huge but profitable fraud and you get hardly any compensation for the huge profits

  • @theUSER101 Funny you say that. I take the Wellness Formula, and I swear by it. I take it on the onset of any illness and it stops it cold. I would like to see these studies you are referring to, as you're making some pretty bold claims. Though wholefood vitamins are the same molecules, they are protein bonded which provides better absorption. These nutrients occur naturally in raw whole foods together as they were intended to be absorbed synergistically.

  • @friskystapler Personal testimonies don't hold any weight because of two reasons, confirmation bias and placebo effect. Anyone who has taken even an entry level science, logic, or psychology class should know that. The supplement industry makes the bold claims, I'm just giving you the facts and what science has to say about the claims. Stop reading your Quack Prescription for Natural Healing book and start looking at the Mayo Clinic books or other pro-science literature.

  • @theUSER101 speaking of which...shouldn't you be digging out one of these studies that backs up everything you're talking about? still waiting...

  • @friskystapler I PM'd you the studies hero.

  • I'd give that mom some natural Protein that was produced in my body and is lead arsenic free... and It's FREE !!!! get mine and get mine friend for free

  • this is rediculous!!! 'not one of the sales people warned us of the potential hazards'' ............ well when i walk into the super market and pick up some pasta or bread of candy if not ones ever seen a sales person come over and warn me about how these will cause me to gain fat and possibly diabetes and heart condition. cop the fuck on media! all they want is our money

  • @thickpooxbox360 no, wrong, stupid, dumb

  • @friskystapler whats wrong? you trying to say carbohydrate doesnt make u fat?

  • @thickpooxbox360 no, actually I'm saying the sales people in this segment should be held accountable for nothing

  • @friskystapler yea thats what i meant. if these people are to be held accountable then supermarket owners should be too. and we all know thats retarded

  • @thickpooxbox360 I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood you

  • 1:38 people who drink protein suppliments and have those listed problems all have 1 thing in common. NOT ENOUGH WATER!

before anyone even thinks about buying a protein shake of any type they should be drinking more than enough water already , thats far more important than protein and another thing these drinks dont pack on muscle, they are only useful if you can get a well balanced meal because for example your not going to get home in time for a meal, a balance meal is1 million times better!

  • Weird that a fat lady is telling me how to be healthy...

  • the purpose of protein drinks is to avoid unwanted extra things like fats... if u eat high protein food, u can't also avoid ingesting unwanted fats & sodium...

  • @killerblade007 eating too much protein is bad in itself

  • @MrChiangching yes thats why we divide it into 6 small meals

  • like that fat cunt @ 1:54 has ever touched a weight or treadmill in her life

  • Exactly Listen if you OVERDOSE if you take EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS also daily recommended amounts are good for your hair because your hair is made from dead cells and protein also it helps prevent certain cancers and fight certain cancers also helps with plaq and much more look it up on the doctors pages

  • the interviews were done about EXCESSIVE the dietitian

didnt say sht bout taking it in MODERATION than this bitch talks about

avoiding protein supplements in general.. wtf

  • FUKIN IDIOT REPORTER ...of course you can get protein from other foods like milk and eggs but those have lots of fat (which athletes mainly want to avoid)

and 23gs in a 3glasses of milk is good and all but its not a muscle building protein...out of the 23g of protein in that milk only 0.01% of that protein is whey/ casein which are they fat burning, muscle recovery proteins...So NO drinking 3 glasses of milk is not the same as having a protein shake...sit down bitch!

  • @KevinS9192 protein powder is made from milk.

  • @KevinS9192 You do realize that Chocolate milk has been shown to be a better post workout recovery drink than anything on the market right? You have been scammed!

  • @KevinS9192 Athletes may also want to avoid all those heavy metals that will never leave one's body. But hey, feel free to run to GNC and buy your heavy metals by the tub. I will enjoy my salmon, chicken, eggs, and almonds. You enjoy your heavy metals. Cheers!

    E

  • @DeltaSigChi4 FYI: These proteins contain far less metals than real food.

  • @theUSER101 You, nor does anyone else on this planet, do not possess any EMPIRICIAL evidence -- not even an iota -- showing that your idiotic statement is even remotely true. Nice try though. I suggest you apply for employment for news corp. You would fit right in with your far-fetched complete lies being stated as fact.

    E

  • @DeltaSigChi4 I can tell by your comment that you are a fucking nut case conspiracy theorist quack, and even if given the 100's of thousands of studies showing complete quackery among the supplement industry, it would all be part of some great conspiracy, I know, I know. Check out JISSN, Mayo Clinic, or the health library(which is sponsored by iberb(dot)com, a company that even sells herbs) All these sources show you the peer reviewed research, nice try though quack.

  • @DeltaSigChi4 Continued: I can also tell that your logic is extremely fucked up. The idea that I'd have to prove that something DOESN'T work, is completely backwards and illogical. The person making the claim that a supplement does work, has to prove it. In 90% of cases, supplements are shown to be placebos and fail miserably. Lets see some peer reviewed research for even a cold cure, I'll make it easy haha.

  • it says OVERUSE could be dangerous...

Just take it 1-2 times and use the normal serving.. :D

  • This lady is talking about heavy metals stay in our body for a "long period of time". I wonder how her stomach fat will stay there?

  • @itswitz how long*

  • You know what Instead of working out and taking a protein shake Imma sit on my ass then go to burger king

  • @OriginalOrigins Then you will be fat.

  • make your own drink at home.... duhhhh

  • so they ask an unhealthy fat women about protein supplements,,, Althought I have to say the metals they found are all toxic in any kind of dose

  • I defer to the old adage, "Everything in moderation!"

  • over consumption of ANYTHING is bad

  • @indian838 but regular usage is not bad

  • @indian838 thanks for info

  • @arkonastriborg123 totally unnecessary and a waste of money

  • @indian838 except for vegetables.

  • they dont make a further reacher on the use of whey protein....

the should ask the nutritionist of protein consumption for bodybuilder....

  • o really???????????????W T H??????????we are joking about???learn to eat 1st!!!2nd TRAIN HARD!!!!3RD DONT LISTEN AND DONT BELIEVE TOO MUCH IN SHAKER AND PROTEIN POWDER,CAN HELP YOU,BUT ONLY IF YOUR BODY NEED IT!!!sry for bad english :( cheer!!!!p.s go to NUTRIONIST!!!!

  • check the chicken and see what you will find in that!!

  • One way to solve dehydration? Get hydrated! Drink water people.

  • they cry 4 everything!!! dont believe the news

  • If you drink too much water you will die. FDA should start regulating water now lol

  • The other reason to take Whey is for Glutithione (sp) production which can increase energy and help in countless ways.

  • Its only a risk if you take loads and over than the recomended daily allowance... Eating healthy natural foods and going to the gym with protein i cant see a risk.. wat do people think?

  • @Brazy11

you just waste money if you buy supplements

  • i hate how the media blows EVERY GOD DAMN THING out of proportion. if you consume anything in high amounts there will be complications. fuck man, seriously. dont tell me what i should and shouldnt consume. protein drinks are fine to have..as long as you dont have a lot its fucking common sense. what a dumb study. im still going to drink my syntha 6.

  • When I first heard about this I was upset but after watching this, I'll keep drinkin my EAS whey protien. Anything can be toxic if you take to much, EVEN WATER FFS!

I don't know anyone who takes 3 servings a day of protein shakes, and they said only 3 of the tested ones would have high amounts. And muscle milk is a fucking joke anyway, saturated fat in a shake? Thats the last thing you want in a shake to gain muscle.

  • @PlayDohz06 sat fat is good for testosterome btw

  • LOL at 1:32

Dehydration? If you are dumb and don't drink water

Digestive Problems? If you are dumb and don't drink water

  • To the media: Don't give me that crap that protein supplements are bad!!!!!!!

  • well, that probably explains the giant testicles, and the slightly green tint...

  • I agree on this, lots of ppl are being misled by the ads and sales people so they over use the product. If you want to be on the safe side then just have a pre workout and post workout shake, that is all you need. For the rest of the day fill it with non processed foods and you are golden.

  • I tried consuming the recommended amount of protein for my body condition naturally (and I'm not even a body builder), and I gagged on the food LOL. Fresh is always best, of course. Once in a while I would add whey protein. Nowadays I consumed a lot of egg whites. That's a lot of eggs without the fat and cholesterol.

  • I take about 92g of Protein, which is slightly above (7g more) what my EAS bag of Protein says that I should take if I'm not serious. The HIGHEST amount that they recommend is 0.8g per body weight, which for me would be 136g of Protein. I don't think that I'm "over-consuming".

  • The problem is that the whole milk and eggs are very high in cholesterol. Protein drinks give you the protein without the high animal fat.

  • What a joke. If you are serious about gaining muscle you need a protein supplement. It would be extremely difficult to get the 1-1.5 grams of protien per pound of your weight by just eating foods throughout the day. The media loves to sensationalize and throw up red flags. I'll take the "dangers" of my 2 shakes a day as opposed to the people who down 2 Liters of soda daily, partially hydrogenated oils and trans fat.

  • Well, it is always better to eat fresh!

  • So..., lead is in theese mixtures because...?? You want to be heavier? XD

Btw this reporter looked so boored by this..

  • :3 If they want protein so bad, why don't they just eat some raw Veg? (I said Veg not Vag)

  • @GaiasBatweasel Really, protein in raw veggies? Not a real good protein source last time I checked! Maybe do your research before you comment....

  • @GaiasBatweasel Really, protein in raw veggies? Not a real good protein source last time I checked! Maybe do your research before you comment....

  • @GaiasBatweasel there is little to no protein in vegetables my friend. and even if you consume 100g of protein from soy protein drinks or even salads n stuff your body only absorbs 33% of it. eggs are the best protein source because 100% is absorbed.
