This is NOT KISS. This is a demo that Stan Penridge and Peter Criss recorded. The song actually dates back to around 1972. The KISS version, in my opinion, is WAY better. If a version like this had of appeard on KISS' Dynasty album, then they would've surely criticized as being disco crossovers. Aside from I WAS MADE... Dynasty was NOT disco.
@Hibari9420, true rubbish, come on dude, 1973-1977 is Kiss's only quality output. This song and album are true trash-bin material. Kiss in their death.
@RockSalami : '74-'77 actually. they didn't release anything in '73 first of all. secondly if you're trying to tell me that creatures of the night, lick it up, asylum, hot in the shade, revenge and sonic boom aren't quality output then i'd have to say you're on frikin drugs. get out of the 70's. there's some kool shit out there.
ace did all guitars and bass on a lot of songs: all 3 of his on unmasked, Hard times had him on bass as well, and of course rocket ride. Gene only played bass on a bout 5 songs on Unmasked. Also, Ezrin Carr and Ace played on Escape from the island on the elder no g or p to be found there.
i never heard of bob ezrin playing anything on any kiss or floyd albums when he produced them-detroit rock city is not really hard to play, i think gene simmons on 100000 years or she or love gun and even i was made for lovin you plays much more difficult basslines than on detroit rock city, live is live and the bass is a big loud boom in an arena, i saw iron maiden many times and steve harris plays incredible but not like on record because he is running around, same for gene, he sings too!
Shandi is another one in fact the only Kiss member on shandi is Paul, Anton fig played drums and Simmons bass rodie played bass! Danger from creatures was done by Jimmy Haslip because Simmons could not do it! Love Gun is stanley on bass, Rocket Ride is all Ace and Peter! Ace did all guitars and Bass!
DYNASTY is one of the best albums but I am convinced Simmons does not play on it! I know its a different style but I do not think he can play that style, its just not him its too well played.
i think gene simmoms is a better bass player than we think , listen to the older stuff ,,he has some nice bass patterns...he can play bass really well, but he doesn't care what we think about his bass playing..i appreciate gene simmons the performer but the musician as well...
you are entitled to your opinion but you would be amazed on how many KISS songs he did not play on... Bob Ezrin played Bass on Detroit Rock City if you listen to the album version its nothing like what Simmons plays live Ezrin played it because Simmons could not!! FACT!!
just saw kiss in montreal 2009 with gene paul eric and tommy ..the best kiss show i have seen , i have seen many ,,this is kiss 4WD..all 4 members giving 100%,,i think paul and gene gave a 100% all the time -even today! it's ace and peter who have cheated the fans over and over by playing horrible when they had the chance to come back ..kiss today is better-tighter and great to watch and hear ..better than no kiss at all..go see for yourself --you will agree how great kiss sounds live now.
I can't say that I agree with you on that one. Imo Kiss was the best during the Creatures era. Gene, Paul, Eric Carr, and Vinni Vincent. Creatures of the Night is the best Kiss album ever. I don't think they'll be able to top that ever. They wont have the input from Eric and Vinni.
One more thing. Gene is so greedy that he would sell his mother into slavery for dime and then sue her if she tried to use a Kiss trademark on autobiography about the experience. Oh you know what I have been a kiss fan since 1974 and I love Dynasty! I am not afraid to admit it!
it's amazing how many people say that the "Disco" version of Kiss were non authentic. Yet they give a pass on all this bullshit fraud that Gene as been doing since the end of the so-called farewell tour. Gene himself stated at the start of the tour that he has always respected the fan fans foremost and would not lie to them calling this a farewell tour just to get everyone to come and trick them. So if you keep going to the shows yet say this Kiss music is non authentic you're a hypocrite!
no there time as a "fad" was up. The solo albums were met with lukewarm response so I don't really think it would've made a difference if they made another RockNRoll Over at that point. The comic book and silly movie and merchandise was already starting to "kill" them. Poncia just tried to broaden their appeal.
clearly a draft version compared to the final cut, single chord monotony, unfocused guitar licks, weak backing vox, ugh. for me, the final version is an amazingly intricate hard funky little number that whilst out of place on a kiss album is a proper tune in its own right. DISCO KISS ROCKS JUST LIKE ROCK KISS ROCKS! tear down the fuckin wall people!!!
Pete was a great drummer, who also had great drum sound. This proves it. I am not as keen on his new drum aound however, but he has so much more 'taste' that Eric Singer does.
@bosoxyaz8 : maybe because the album version of "dirty livin" is much better than the demo????? yea, i'm sure that's the reason cause this version is lacking a lot
Very good version of the song. i really liked it. I thinl the one in th ealbum goe excelent with kisstyle and this one is perfect for Peters´ solo carrer.
No, but Peter did sing Tossin' and Turnin' for a few shows, I think it was ultimately dropped from the set list though, as was Radioactive and Move On. New York Groove stayed in the set.
Peter actually sign Dirty Livin. The only time was in Dynasty tour, in Toronto, Canada. Later Peter signs this in his solo carrer, but actually now he didn't play it.
This is definitely not the the released version. It's a lot heavier. I saw KISS on the Dynasty tour in June 1979 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. They only did 2 songs from it, though; I Was Made for Loving You & 2,000 Man, which Ace did his solo to. Did they perform this on any of the Dynasty shows? I know this was before Peter's departure.
the album version is way better, this is to disco sounding
musichead351 1 week ago
Of course this doesnt sound like kiss, mainly because this is peters song, and peters musical roots go to soul and swing/big band.

Another example of Kiss's spark lost. This is dead Kiss. 1973-1977 was all they really did, - the classic era.

Vini Ponincia ruined KISS!
If Dynasty and Unmasked were good, hard rockers, Kiss would have been the biggest band in the world well into the 80's

This is not KISS, this is Peter trying to be funny in 1979. The result: "Peter, please get the fuck out of here" - Paul, Gene, Ace.

No, this is clearly Vini Poncias influence, not Peter trying to be funny.
