Can you connect your power wire to a distribution block (to amp) and your ground to the chassis of your trunk rather than tapping in to your head units power and ground? I have an auxiliary input adapter for my factory H.U, i want to enhance my sound without messing with my wiring harness connections, is the mx-3 an alternative to that? any help would be appreciated, thanks.
@jake19xx What site are you referring to? Not ours as I just reviewed them. The MX-3 has a built in line driver which is how it's possible to offer up to 9V of clean signal output. ;-)
i just bought one. now i have a few questions. box is tuned to 45 hz. should i set up my mx 3 the way you did then? and since it only sounds good down to about 35 hz should i leave the band narrow or can i get a lil deeper bass without blowing the subs.
First, since your box plays well down to 35Hz, set the Subsonic around 32Hz. Set the Low Pass where you desire, generally 80Hz and below. Since your box will naturally peak at 45Hz and above due to tuning, you can actually enhance the lower frequency production by adjusting your Frequency below 45Hz somewhere. Your wide to narrow enhancement will help boost frequencies in that range. Your Subsonic already cuts off frequencies below your setting so you are safe.
well thanks alot for your help. i curantly have two cvr 12s in a super bass probox. i dont like that they are tuned so high so i just wanted to make sure i could get a lil more bass without breaking the subs. my mx 3 is enroute .
i took your advice and bought a mlx-100 and watched the vids on it in order to hook up my two 12''s 1 amp per sub and use the maxx-link to control the bass do i need to hook one amp to a+b+ then 2nd amp up to c+d+ or should it be a+a- b+b- this setup is for the 1610d's im confused cause in the vid it didnt show using the neg side output on the maxx-link for this application thanks.
ok if i use this with my 2 bxi1610d's when i hook the mx3 output to the 1st amps input can i go out of the 1st amp outputs to the input of the 2nd amp or would i be better off just using a set of rca y's and create2 sets of outputs from the mx3 any help is great thanks
The ideal module would be the MLX-100 Maxxlink for your application. But, you can use the MX-3 as well if you use the Y splitters on the output to make 2 sets of outputs.
so dont need the JL audio clean sweep?

@jake19xx Yes, it is a line driver up to 9V of cleanup signal output along with the Parametric Bass EQ and additional filters.

Where is it better to mount for best performance. close to the headunit or close to the amp? Thanks!
Flukeful 2 years ago
You can mount it anywhere you prefer. But, I recommend splicing in behind the headunit for the speaker wires rather than at the speakers themselves.

You need to use the A+ and B+ to amp 1 and C+ and D+ to amp 2.

Is this comparable to the KX-3 from kicker? All I need to do is cut-off my sub-sonic frequencies at 15hz to 30hz around -6db...I this what I'd need?
