I think Ana Maria should do like Grace Bumbry did: she should sing some juicy mezzo roles in the future. Her voice has a certain darker, mezzoish quality to it. Imagine this great voice singing Eboli from Don Carlo. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future she does just that.

I agree with vitellia that Martinez does have a strange habit of fizzling out in sustained notes here. Weird. I appreciate that she makes an effort to articulate the Italian--it's actually comprehensible--but really, a "golden" voice? I can't imagine that people are going to be listening to this in 50 years.

this is such a wonderful inerpertation of this piece. I recently sang the role of Guglielmo and have really gotten to know the opera. Martinez sings with conviction, poise and incredible vocal flexibility. She is a pleasure to watch and hear. She makes it sound and look so easy, while still creating such incredible tension and charcter. Well done!

A bit too much vibrato and portamento for my taste. I also hear a tendency of not sustaining notes in full or longer values. (Maybe she was under the weather?) But the voice is golden, and she's a totally committed actress.
