  • Fantastic !

    And they don't overdo it.

    Band sounds great, too.

  • like I said before , I'd marry the one in the middle!

  • they are baby dolls ( I would marry the middle one)

  • Thanks doowop love it !!

  • Aahhh...Sittin' in my 55 Chevy at the Local Suds & Duds waiting for the Hot Waitress to bring out my Burger & Fries on Roller Skates while this tune jams over the loud speaker, leather jacket, half a tub of Vaseline in my hair, & smokes under my sleeve...Aahhh, the Good....WHAT?...It's 2011?, Fuck!, it was all just a Dream???

  • Just plain, EXCELLENT !!

  • i met Francis Collins today one of the members of this group what a nice lady and we spoke about her days with Phil specter who was a jerk

  • Phil even though you're a convicted killer you did a great job creating the "Wall of Sound".

  • LA LA was the lead of the chystals and DEE DEE one of the back ground chorus to the songs, but it does not matter who leads now after 54 years. I personally think PBS television station be congratuated bringing back these older singers in early 80's to today. Others catches on making the 50's alive again. All memories.

  • Just utter Brilliance!!!!! Just Brilliant!!!! - Thank you for the Music

  • Dee Dee looks incredibly great!!!! How old is she??!!?!

  • @418cjpaul She was born in 1945

  • Dee Dee does a great job on this one as do the backup singers. Nice version!!

  • LaLa Brooks is back Onstage- after 50 million years of SITTING ON HER ASS!!! So, what does this mean for Dee Dee Kennibrew??? For decades, she was THE ONLY ONLY ORIGINAL MEMBER holding up 'The Crystals" Banner... Is Dee Dee all of a sudden "expected" to just "Move Over" or "Retire" just because LaLa has a change of plans??? Just Saying...

  • You can't change the older times.I don't know weather it was the old instruments, or the recording equipment. But something sends shivers down my spine that get me dancing and shaking when I hear the old voices of the golden age of time. They will live forever

  • well, Dee Dee Kennibrew wasn't only a backing vocals in the Crystals, she did some lead singing as well in some songs, although it's true that La La Brooks is the lead vocals of most Crystal hits. But remember that the Crystals for Phil Spector were just a brand name and in some songs none of them actually sing, being the vocals done by Darlene Love, lead singer of The Blossoms, a great backing vocals group for many artists.

  • 0:26 bass fail :P

  • Based on the current information given on Wikipedia, the original member Dolores "Dee Dee" Kenniebrew is still singing these days with the two AWESOME singers Melissa "MelSoulTree" Antoinette Grant since 2002 and Patricia Pritchett-Lewis since 2005. I've seen them live...they are AWESOME! The current group of Crystals really put on great shows as they continue to carry on the legacy of The Crystals. The women in this video to the left of ORIGINAL member Dee Dee are L to R: Gretchen and Deborah.

  • This is not Dolores La La Brooks, the original singer. La La sounds a lot better more of that 60's sound.

  • Dolores "La-La" Brooks was the lead singer of the Crytals. Read Mary Wilson's "Dreamgirl, My Life as a Supreme" or Dick Clark's, "Rock, Roll and Remember" or Google La-La Brooks to confirm my comment.

  • love it

  • Delores La La Brooks is still touring Oldies Shows and Singing this song.

And this is NOT LA LA.

  • De De is hot and does a great job on this tune !!

  • @mrstevehartman

    you got that right!!

  • @Goldenoldies4ever Yes sir !!

  • Saw The Crystals in Fort Myers, FL, one show only... Dee Dee, you still have it!

  • Yes I know that and you can hear that too! By the way,I wrote a book on the history of Popmusic and this video is really an insult to Phil's great creation..

  • @jt123egypte UGH.. isnt Phil in prision ???

  • @mrstevehartman

Indeed he is a murderer, but we are not talking about what people do in private! Besides that he was a GREAT producer! But as a human being you may throw him in the dustbin!

  • @jt123egypte Well, hes certainly in the trash can now !!

  • @mrstevehartman

Yes, and he may keep there for many years but...I am curious if he could produce masterpieces again, but certainly this is an insult by a bunch of bad copycats!

  • @jt123egypte Actually, the chick singing ( Dee Dee Kinnabrew ) was with the origional group as a back up singer. I thought she is doing a good job. The origional group, ( in black and white ),is listed under suggestions posted by " doowop 50s ". Its great and even has " Go Go " dancers in it. As for Phil, hes gonna die in prison !!

  • This has nothing to do with the great Crystals! It is an insult to Phil Spector!

  • @jt123egypte Actualy, the lead singer was hired by phil spector and is an original member of the crystals. She did not sing lead back then however

  • I'm in love ever time I hear then sing.

  • Well done, Dee Dee, for continuing the group so long!

  • custard loves this song

  • WHAT IS THE POINT? WHAT IS THE POINT?

  • I thought Shaun Cassidy sung this song first. Well, he sings it better at the end anyway!

  • I would love to see the Crystals live like this but i hate the fact that all these old assholes are sitting down acting like they're watching a movie... no movement... no acknowledgement... they might as well have stayed home and listened to the cd. How about moving around, dancing a little, acting like you still have some blood in your veins... I hate this old person shit when you have sit in a chair and not move in order to enjoy music.

  • @SkunkyAngry ha ha.....Yes you are so right....

  • I'd like to see Dee Dee do a duet with Little Richard. They look like brother and sister.

  • cool, a song about sourcecode : doRun.run();

  • Ain't no La La!

  • she's great

  • WOW THIS SONG SUCKS LOL

  • Will they be singing the songs of the 80s and 90s in 40 years time like thay are singing the songs of the 60s? I doubt it.

  • @g1h2nedlaw Maybe, maybe not. However, great music (like this) can never go out of style, can it !!

  • Lovely song! Memories! :-)

  • SPOT ON !!!

  • this version is cheesy

  • @lennon2213 You mean cheesy as in a great tasting pizza ? !!

  • this version is cheesy

  • Plastic surgery all over her face

  • Excellent!

Thank you for shering this live title.

    Regards

  • sing deedee love n miss u chick

  • Dee Dee Keenibrew is great in this old classic ! Get it on girls !!!

  • No chance of Dee Dee forgetting the words LOL!

  • Work it ladies!

  • what language does mona carta sing hers in ? i would really li

    ke to know

  • Darlene Love went on to play Danny Glover's wife in the Lethal Weapon movies.

  • Are these the Original Crystals? They sure sound good, and seem to be enjoying themselves on stage. Very well done live performance indeed.

  • @terrafirma91 The lead is Dee Dee Kennibrew who is an original member of the band. The other two are not.

  • mbgraphs: Did Dee Dee sing the lead parts in the original Crystals? Dee Dee sure looks, and sings great here. Very impressive.

  • @terrafirma91 The original was La La Brooks. Although on some Crystals song Darlene Love sang lead uncredited. In particular He's a Rebel and He's Sure the Boy I Love

  • mbgraphs: Thanks for the info. I've heard that name before: Darlene Love. The two songs you've mentioned are probably the most popular Crystal songs.

  • @terrafirma91 "Then He Kissed Me" is more popular then "He's Sure the Boy I Love". It was in the movie Goodfella's also.

  • @LarryStorchsChannel : I stand corrected, you're right. Movie makers are still using plenty of these classic Doo Wop songs. They'll always be in a class of their own.

  • @mbgraphs The Lead Singer who sang this song in 1962 when it came out was Delores LA LA Brooks.

    Check it out. Sir David

  • @terrafirma91 When you are this good, you can't help but to enjoy yerself.

  • @Liozeris I agree. Dee Dee does great work. To bad she never got the chance to really shine on the original records

  • Dee Dee does a great job at lead. Hope to see more of her.

  • Comment removed

  • dede is a very very talented lady. she sounds great and looks great.

  • This is what I like to see, some pride in the music. Todays "divas" look like they are ashamed of the crap they have to spew out.

  • The actress that plays Teya Delgado wore this exact same outfit on One Life To Live a few weeks ago...

  • Dee Dee was born in 1945. I sure would like to invite her for .....a cup of coffee !

  • yes,its dee dee on lead. The only original member left n da group. Atleast she got da guts 2 take over lead, instead of living off of someone else talent! And smoky? We shall see what Y O U look like n 20 years! Hell, u probably look like shit now!!!

  • MJ in drag? isn't that some sort of oxmoron on oxycontn?

  • That comment made me smile :) Thanks for that.

  • This song was cut from the Doo-Wop 50's DVD and I like it very much.

  • Is this Dee Dee? First time I've ever seen her do the lead...

  • Have these ladies been having secret visits to Michael Jacktson plastic surgeon. They look very artificial to me. Or is that Michael Jackson in drag?

  • Actually she looks like Little Richard!

  • Come on.

  • @blinko656 With the new Youtube system, I don't know if you were adressing me, but if you were, I feel that I should say that new music just dies out in a matter of days. The whole feel to the music has shifted towards strange rather than enjoyable. Regardless of how cliché the theme of the song is, it still beats the premise of "Pokerface" or whatever. I'm sorry if the comment wasn't aimed at me.

  • I can't remember but I agree with you.

    Merry Christmas

    Mike

  • smokey get a life

  • The lead singer is kinda weird and I wish that they would sing together like in the sixties...

  • Ironically, the lead singer is the only original member of the group, though she was not the lead singer back then.

  • I wish I knew who was the lead singer...

  • DeDe (Delores) Kinebrew. I've been in love with her since about 1962 or so. :)

  • My thoughts exactly... it still knocked me out... was my first year at senior college....OMG!

  • Let's get -Back to Mono_

  • what a cracking band there my favaroite 60's band

  • Carpenters sang this song, too...

  • theyd be at least 60

  • They should rename themselves The Zirconias.

  • Crazy... after all these years. I would say they look good, but the lead singer has had obvious work done.... you can tell just by looking. She has a great voice, but she looks like LaToya Jackson!

  • have thesebeen goinsince the 50's?

    or 60's?

shit im gonna fail my listening exam...

  • Wow they still sound so great!

  • this video is awsome the band is as

good as it comes along with the girls

i will take this quality anyday

  • No - the Crystals was Darlene Love as she was almost all of Phil Spector's hits except Ronnie - his abused wife!

  • darlene sang on hes a rebel, he's sure the boy i love which were released under the crystals name the lead singer on this performance is dee dee not Lala brooks who sang it for the orig version

  • From what time is that show? I estimate late 80s/early 90s. A actually have seen the Crystals live yesterday at a Oldienight with Dee Dee Kennibrew.

  • Watch the black and white original version....Here we see that the magic is gone!

  • True. This version is boring as shit.

  • You can really feel the synergy between the girls and the orchestra—with the audience responding. I particularly enjoyed when Dee Dee was cupping her right ear while listening to the sax section and then belted out Run, run, run—Wow! What an electrifying moment! Dees energy is simply astounding and her voice is wonderful!

These sophisticated ladies clearly love what they are doing! Regarding the posted debate about their looks, I find all three gals incredibly sexy!

    Bill (Toronto)

  • And your name was Bill

I agree, this is a stunning performance. Dee Dee has a deeper voice than LaLa but she has been the one keeping the Crystals going all these years.

  • good singing but they arent THE CRYSTALS......

  • soyeltiempo ...

    So true.

    Sad but true.

Someone is trying to make a fast buck by putting three girls on stage who had nothing to do with the original hit.

  • Listen to the introduction to the song, bofore the vocal ~ do you think that maybe Bjorn and Benny from Abba heard this BEFORE they wrote the intro to Waterloo !? Same rhythm , same number of bars....

  • Very insightful observation!

  • wow ... u are right!!

  • Excellent observation!

  • Lets not forget La La Brooks and Darlene Love. Truth is that Darlene was in the studio while the Crystals were on the Road. The first version of Da Doo Ron Ron was Darlene. Phil Spector then recut La La Brooks lead for later sales

They all get a kiss on the Cheek for adding so much to this fabulous Music

    from

    Mike Miller

    Harmony Street

    The Mystics and

    Record Producer

  • They all get a kiss and more for looking so great. Dam. Just went to the Ultimate Doo Wop in Costa Mesa Ca, and saw many great groups. Great show.

    Mike

    Class of 67

  • THIS ISN'T THE CRSTALS. It's spamming.

  • This . . . is a mistake.

  • Is this a horrible 1990's remake by the original girls? Sounds like the same girls singing but remixed as 'High Energy. It's lost its innocence and therefore its attraction. sorry

  • bravo

  • this is as good as it gets top notch performance ,sound and all great job

  • Am sorry in disappointing you ladies and gentleman Dee Dee Kenniebrew is absolutely gorgeous and got a perfect body. Day she told me her age - and this was almost ten years after we knew each other - I did not fall for I was lying in bed. Anyway can assure you she is perfect and got a fine voice and demeanour. Also an extremely elegant and classy girl - and yet simple and a very good-heart. Right she is an original Crystals!

  • idiot.

  • More energy in this than the original, as I recall. Love it!!!

  • exelente, when is it?

  • She has 2 other ladies with her now, Melissa Antionette and patrica Prichett-Lewis and they are fabulous as well. Dee Dee still performs world wide

  • Thanks for all the love y'all showin Dee Dee cause alot of times people talk s**t about her!! Shes an original Crystal, looks great sounds great has a tight classy polished professional act. True, she didn't sing on all the recordings, but that was crazy Phil Spector. True La La Brooks and Darlene Love are still there doing their thing as well but Dee Dees the only who never quit...and that is Deborah Sherman in the middle and Gretchen Gayle on the left. They no longer are with dee dee.

  • crazy phil spector???

what the hell are you talking about. HE made them famous. HE created their sound...

  • Oh, he's crazy. No doubt about that! He was a genius at producing but there is no denying the man is batshit crazy!

  • Very love song!

  • When Is It?

  • we have to sing this in chorus lol

we were like da doo ron ron wtf

  • yeah , i have 2 sing this too

    forr a school project :P

    funny song (A)

  • Maybe Dee Dee didn't sing lead vocals with the original Crystals, but she really belts it out, and sounds great! For those of you making remarks about her appearance, well, I think she looks great. Lets see how you look after 40 years! The backup singer in the middle (Deborah Sherman?) is absolutely gorgeous! The choreography is great, I love their moves! Great Job all 3 of you!

  • Yeah. Dee Dee was wonderfully cute as a teen and she's a classic beauty in looks and spirit in this video. Major crush for quite some decades now.

  • Somebody told me that her name was Jill!

  • XOXOXOX

  • the lead singer her I believe is Dee Dee Kenniebrew, an original Crystal, who is the only original to continuously keep the name of the group going...she wasn't a lead singer on the records

  • classic

  • Is Darlene Love there??

  • Is the main singer one of the original members? If not these are impersonaters and not the real Crystals. If you use the name there should be at least one orginal member on stage, if not they should be sued for using the name in a fraudulent manner.

  • There are many bands touring without any original members. From what I understand Phil Spector owns the names of the crystals and the ronettes, therefore so long as they have his approval anyone can use the name.

Anyway this is still one of the greatest pop songs of the last 40 years!

  • You are right they are a great group, but if they license it out as being the Ronettes or crystals experience, then it would be more appropriate. They shouldn't advertise it as the Ronettes of Crystals, if it isn't the real members.

  • Regardless of what you or I think is "right", Phil Spector will do what he wants with the groups he owns the names too. The fact remains more people are inclined to buy tickets for a group using the name, than a tribute band.

Besides, from what others have posted it appears this singer was an original member of the band.

  • Phil Spector is a very good producer but hes a real jerk

  • They are a lot of talented people in showbiz who are real asses, Phil is but one!

  • Very true. If you watch close, Phil is at John Lennon's house in that documentary where he was making the Imagine album. Phil makes a crack and says,"Well who wants to make a Paul album anyway." Immediately John welled up inside and cut him off right away. I was very proud of John putting a stop to that right away. Even though Paul and John were at odds, John still put up that wall and said, "Enough of that." If you watch the album, you'll see John's actions.

  • Wow! Very good.

  • well done Dee Dee

  • wicked!!!!!!

  • Dee Dee Kennibrew sings this song well. I don't think she ever sang lead on any of the Crystals original hits.I think she's the only original member still performing as a Crystal.I saw La La performing this song and "Then He Kissed Me" on a PBS Special awhile back. She's also still in good voice and looks good as well.

  • Still going strong, these gals! :-D Great song, great rhythm, great performance! Hats off!!!

  • WOW, They are so HOT!

  • I saw this! Check out the piano player "Bangin' them elephants!" He had blisters on his fingers at the end of this song! He was suckin' his fingers!!It was so funny!!!

  • I think the scratch and hiss of the old records added something to the original "wall of sound". This modern version sounds so lifeless compared to the 60s version.

  • Benji was here o_O

  • what a set of pipes...awsome.

  • wow deedee can really belt it out

  • sounds like shirly bassy?

  • nj je skoro jak Anet :-)

  • no jo, ale není tam Pepík =( =D =D =D

  • Jj Anet ta jede tam přímo:)A Pepík super:)sladká byla:)A co Anet ted je to kdo?

  • Do they ever make it out to the West coast? if so when and where. Will they be out this year to the West Coast?

  • are those the real Crystals?! cause they still look good

  • Good Song But,

    Use A Dictionary!! lol (jokin')

  • I like this song ^^ I sang this in school today for my music lesson XD :D

    Thnks for uploading ^^

  • Funny song!=)

  • Dee Dee does good here-with La La quality in her voice. She and La La and Barbara reunited once in 2000 at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Girl Groups show organized by Mary Wilson.

  • GREAT SINGERS GREAT BAND FAB MUSIC

  • Dee Dee Kenibrew is beautiful inside & out!

  • Personally I prefer Darlene Love. This woman looks like she went in for the Michael Jackson faux Diana Ross treatment and got gipped...scary...she looks like she is ready to jump out of her skin

  • She is SCARY looking, she has obviously visited Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon, and can't sing well either.

  • From the PBS Show "DooWop 51." That's Gretchen Gale (Eric Gale's daughther) on the left and Deborah Sherman in the middle. They both are no longer with Dee Dee. Some time ago Dee Dee and Lala were thinking about getting together, but it never happened.

  • Im very surprised that some1 else beside me would know the ladies who sing with Dee Dee!! The two ladies that are with her now are Melissa Antionette and Patricia Prichett-Lewis. I work with Dee Dee as one of her representatives. Shes sweet person, has a tight act & is an excellent business woman

  • GREAT !!!! thanks for this

  • Excellent video!
