Also when I see Victoria Osteen preaching before the huge congregation in which there are many men, I am immediately reminded of the Apostle Paul's command in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 which says ..." Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, bu to be in silence. "
@k0smon If you have a problem with women not allowed to preach, teach and lead in church, take it up with God. It is written in His word as in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 as well as in other passages of the new testament epistles. Go read the relevant passages and find out what the Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, gave as His reasons. One cannot claim to be a believer of the bible as the word of God & simply pick and choose what one likes. The bible comes together in 66 books.

@opsvideo2008 John Piper doesnt believe Paul's intent was to shut the mouths of women, but rather to speak to the male/female dynamic in the church. His take is that men should not enter into a pastoral, authoritative relationship with a woman, not that women dont have insight, teaching, and wisdom from which a man can benefit. I mention John Piper because he is generally respected among conservative thinking Christians.
@denoinwa The bible is God's revealed word to man & is the supreme spiritual authority in a believer's life. It doesn't matter one bit what John Piper or who thinks what Paul's intent was if they are wrong. Renown spiritual personalities doesn't mean a thing to the believer if they have erred in understanding God's word. You don't have to look far for an example in the great Billy Graham who now says Jesus is not the only way to heaven. Only God's truth reigns supreme.
@denoinwa By looking up to renown personalities, you are already on the wrong track & in impending danger of being misled. Jesus said in John 14:26...." But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit), whom the Father will send in my name, HE SHALL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." Yes we do listen to preachers preaching but it is the Holy Spirit who tells us whether they are speaking the truth of God's word.
@opsvideo2008 You are in severe denial about how deeply and thoroughly influenced you are by HUMAN teachers, from Augustine to Calvin, to people like Dave Hunt. "He shall teach you all things" includes what the Holy Spirit says through people (INCLUDING WOMEN). Why do you think God has gifted the body with teachers, prophets, and apostles? Why do you think teachers incur a stricter judgement? Have you even listened to Piper's teaching on the subject or have a clue what he is saying?
@opsvideo2008 Piper recounts how much he admired Elizabeth Eliot years ago, and how inspired he was through her ministry. So, if you really believe the Holy Sprit is telling you that no woman should speak at all about spiritual things with men present in any venue, I really pity you, for your are not only deprived, but you do not have any idea who the Holy Spirit is.
@denoinwa The Holy Spirit do speak through women as in prophecies but the bible also commands that women are not to teach or lead in a church because that role has been given to man. The Holy Spirit will never contradict the word of God because He is also God Himself. You can rationalize as much as you want but you can never refute the fact that the bible forbids women to teach and lead a congregation with men as it clearly says they will be usurping the the authority of man. Period.
@denoinwa You should forget about what John Piper said and instead concentrate upon what God says in His word. The bible clealy says in Jeremiah 17:5 that cursed be the man that trusteth in man and whose heart departeth from the Lord. Go and thoroughly read and understand the bible to know God's heart and what He is saying in His word before you go around falsely representing Him with your own personal erroneous opinion.
@opsvideo2008 Your OPINION is that Paul had no specific concerns in mind regarding the Corinthian church when he wrote those statements. And if you are so foolish as to NOT discern legitimate differences of opinion without profaning the scripture to support yours, you are more pathetic than I originally thought.
@opsvideo2008 You should stop with your delusional assumptions that you rely purely on the Word to formulate your opinions about the Word. And you should stop with the idiotic assumptions that people with your opinion are the only studied people following the Holy Spirit. And I really hope that you require all woman to wear head coverings where believers gather or you are nothing but a hypocritical windbag.
@denoinwa The only reason why you " discern legitimate differences of opinion" is because you use this excuse to humanly justify your position that women are allowed to teach and lead in a congregation where there is men. Jesus's commandments are very clear in the Apostle Paul's instructions to the church not to allow women to lead and teach men along with clear reasons why it is so. But you choose to inject your human opinion into it which carries no spiritual weight at all.
@denoinwa Concerning whether women should wear head coverings in church, once again you show your ignorance of what the bible teaches. If you have read carefully the relevant passages, you would have found that the head covering that the Apostle Paul is referring to is actually the long hair of the women. You always speak out of your ignorance of what the bible teaches. And if you think the guidance of Holy Spirit is not required to understand God's word, you are once again ignorant.
@opsvideo2008 Let the windbag continue to spew its hypocrisy. Your interpretation of head coverings is your bias. It is YOUR OPINION, and it is not a common interpretation AT ALL. This is delusionary hypocrisy from someone with misplaced faith. If your faith was primarily in Christ, you could admit your lack of perfect understanding. But you cant can you? You study the scriptures diligently because by them you THINK you possess eternal life.
@denoinwa So after running out of your own personal & incorrect interpretaions of the bible, you are now resorting to the last resort of losers that is calling people names. With your type of attitude, is it any wonder why you cannot understand what the bible is saying? There is only one truth where the bible, God's word is concerned & it is revaled to those who have the Holy Spirit in them. The rest of the other "interpretations" like yours, are of human origin & therefore erroneous.
@opsvideo2008 You are going call me a loser and ignorant while at the same time complain that I am calling you names? Wow. Hypocrisy at its finest. Everyone is ignorant or doesnt have the Holy Spirit who has a differnent opinion. This is NOTHING but gross immaturity and extreme ignorance on your part. You are well on your way to becoming an incognizant pharisee if you havent already arrived. Congratulations.
@denoinwa I did not call you a loser but stating a fact that you are resorting to the last resort of losers that is calling others names. If your thinking is in such in a convoluted state, it is little wonder the simple truths of the bible is beyond your understanding. It is obviously clear you do not have the Holy Spirit in you which explains why you are unable to comprehend the truth of the bible.
@opsvideo2008 Clearly, you think you have arrived at perfect truth and have no humility or integrity whatsover with regard to opposing opinions. To enthone yourself as the judge to determine if someone has the Holy Spirit is demonic and delusional. I pity you pharisee. May you be delivered from your religious, phony, demonic spirit SOON.
@denoinwa You are spiritually naive. It doesn't take much for true believers to know who is and who isn't of the Lord. He who is of the Lord upholds the authority of His word, the bible while he who is not will deviate from this authority and add their own "spin" and interpretation to suit their own preferences. This self-will to deviate from God's word is excatly what gives rise to innumerable christian cults such as the Mormons, the JW, the catholic church & the gay church.
@denoinwa Ask yourself why have these cults deviated from the truth of God's word? It is because they didn't have the Holy Spirit guiding them in understanding the bible in the first place. The difference between your comments and mine is that I speak the truth about you while your giving me names is out of sheer malice, not truth. As to head covering, if you cannot even see the Paul's clear prohibition of women to teach over men, how can you know the other truths of God?
@opsvideo2008 Any sane person with a lick of common sense would be self aware enough to know their own insults without hiding behind the Bible and their own phony religiosity. There is only one relevant discussion for you, which is how in the heck did you become a servant of the enemy wearing Christian clothes? And what kind of grievous false Christian culture would produce such a miserable disaster? Oh, and I am not calling you names of course, I am just referring to Christian culture.
@opsvideo2008 And has much as I would like to discuss head coverings with you (your view is WRONG), it is a worthless endeavor to discuss ANYTHING with a misguided dreck who thinks they have arrived into perfect truth. And it isnt so much THIS delusion, but the obvious need to paint others outside the faith that is a grievous LIE and completely outside the realm of Christian maturity and sanity. If you had any knowing of the Holy Spirit, YOU WOULD NOT SEE IT THIS WAY. You are one SICK brother
I believe Dave Hunt hit the nail on the head with his explaination of "The Faith" in God & Jesus Christ in the initial part of this video. He said faith is a relationship with God, explaining that we cannot trust God if we do not know Him. It is by this relationship with God that we are being guided and taught of His word by His Holy Spirit. And that is the whole counsel of God with moral content, not just His power with which man manipulates God.
How many of you would complain if you attended a church where the depravity of man, sin, and judgment were preached to the exclusion of God's goodness and blessing? Would you throw stones at your preacher, call him a false teacher who doesnt preach the FULL gospel, reach and dig for ways to demonize his every move? Joel Osteen is exactly what many of you sick religious people need!!!
For the truth about religion try Robert M. Price, ' The reason driven life ' or John W. Loftus or Victor J. Stenger, ' God, the failed hypothesis' . Also interesting to have a look at the 1500BCE papyrus of Ani, with its god Osiris who weighs the heart to decide who can pass to the land of the living.[ The need to know the names of the gods & the negative confession & other magic texts to get there]. James Frazer's 'The Golden Bough' and C.S. Lewis, 'Mere Christianity'
The argument that a preacher who preaches only to Christians does not need to address sin, is false. The full, true gospel should be presented always because no man knows whether he is preaching to those of the faith or not. It is so easy to be deceived, that men of God need to clearly express the gospel of Christ.
@pegcage ::: He has the right to address who he wants to in his sermons. His message is attractive, and would serve to draw men to Christ. Damnation and hellfire is not the only way to lead people to Jesus.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 2 Timothy 4:3
where is the contrast in video? I mean am not saying Osteen is the better, but I didn't see contrasting points because Osteen isn't talking about faith in the same context as Hunt. If Hunt and Osteen were in the same venue having agreed to talk on the same topic then maybe we could decipher each of their stands on it. Let me add that I have seen a video where Osteen was on Larry King and wouldn't admit that Jesus is the only way to God, so in that I am afraid he maybe deceived.
Thank-you Dave Hunt for bringing Joel Osteen to the surface for us. I always believed that Joel Osteen was preaching a message of "positive thinking", and not the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He reminds of of a "feel good preacher" and that is why he can pack his church to the brim with people every week. He tells them what they want to hear with nothing preached to them about their sins, the sin condition, repentence, hell and judgement coming soon from God to this planet. God Bless You Dave.
David Hunt is dead on! He's 85 now as of 2011 and I don't know how much longer he will be with us before being called home, but man, back in the 1980's when he came on the evangelical scene it was like gangbusters. Don't know whose going to pick up the torch when he breathes his last? Makes me so sad. His 2010 book, Cosmos, Creator and Human Destiny is spectacular; get a copy if you can it's an excellent refutation to evolution/atheism.
Aside from making me nauseous-thank God for that!-Joel Osteen and ilk actually are saying absolutely nothing. Like cotton candy was for me as a kid: I see it all pink and hugely fluffy, I want it, I eat it, and it makes me tired, crabby, and SICK. Plus has no nutritional value whatsoever...it was always a poison for me...but then, another circus, and I forget how sick it made me before. It really aches me to realize that ALL those people are deceived by empty lies. They need our prayers!
@fischerpilne :: I don't think Joel's congregation would agree with you that he says 'absolutely nothing'. He follows the admonition in Psalms 35:27. You are wrong about cotton candy having no nutritional value - it is a carbohydrate and supplies calories. Truly you have spoken, you are tired, crabby, and sick. There is no deception here, just a level of spirituality you do not understand, because you have grown in judgement, not grown in grace.
Where is the substance in Joel's message? It reminded me of a church I've been to where the message was the same: love & money, money & love...there is sooo much more treasure and truth in His word!!
@ssleidl :: The substance of Joel's message seems to have escaped you. It is based in Proverbs 23:7. Joel preaches to Christians, so he does not do the work of an evangelist. Sounds like you need a big dose of that love, and maybe a little of that money too. There are a lot of missions out there you could donate to.
@k0smon We are known by our fruit, and I wasn't only referring to this clip. In addition, you have no idea about the work I do for Christ and therefore your judgement upon me has no merit. I would recommend that you be careful with this "emerging church" which is the deception that Christ and other wrote about in scripture. Peace
WELL CALLING A MAN A JACK ASS IS LIKE CALLING YOUR BROTHER A FOOL ,JESUS SAID WE ARE IN DANGER OF HELL FIRE,WHEN WE DO THIS.REAL FATH IS SUPERNATURAL,ONE OF THE GREATEST BOOKS ON DECEPTION IS BY RICK JOYNER CALLED ,TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN
he's a motivational speaker. feel good nothingness. no sin no need to repent no alter call for sinners. God will smack him hard and his ole lady too(and duped followers) prophecy of end times " men will depart from real faith and have ears tickled by feel good osteens" basically.
@zackrowe1 ::: The biggest congregation in the country and he preaches 'nothingness'? Hardly. Since he addresses his sermons to Christians, he does not preach about sin or repentance or alter calls. Your comments are a violation of James 4: 10-12.
@Tomdabombb91 I was trying hard to find the gist of what was biblically wrong with Joel Osteen's message until I came across your comment which hit the nail on the head. You said " Me, myself and I ? Who loses his life for the sake of the Lord shall be saved, It's all about Jesus not about '' yourself '', that's the prosperity gospel. " That was the gist I was looking for . It is all about Jesus and God, and not everything about ourselves. Jesus prayed " Not my will but Thine (God's), be done."
The Bible is full of so much hypocrisy and can be interpreted in so many ways, it really isn't worth following it explicitly. It also isn't worth following someone else's interpretation which can range anywhere from stupid to insane.
@46lfries The holy spirit sends very confusing messages. You've got the Catholics who think it says one thing, the Methodists another, the Lutherans another, etc, etc. For being all powerful he really sucks at communication.
Also if God is the Father AND the Son, isn't he incestuous? I mean that means he created himself by having sex with his mother.
@universalmusac actually, great examples that we can learn from. The Bible is my life's manual of how to live, and what NOT to do (through examples of these hypocracies). It also shows us how human and real these people are and that God loves them despite these hypocracies.
I think it is important to understand some of the validity that lakewood and Joel preaches, however it is more of a motivational style theology mix. I dont know how much biblical focus there is in the actual church but from tv broadcasting it focus' alot on motivation vs Jesus
Paul defined love as being patient, this english word is derived from a Greek word which meant to suffer. So first off St. Paul is saying to love others is to suffer with and for them, just like Jesus did for you and me, and everyone.
firedog: I might consider you an uneducated ass if I were to judge from your spelling and sentence construction. Normally, sentences begin with capital letters, and the word is 'you're' (as in 'you are').
Maybe God will give you an 'A' in judgementalship.
Great video message, Thank you Han Solo for sharing this video on YouTube. May the Holy Ghost burn the truth of it according to the measure of Christ in the hearts of all who view it.. God bless you!
Thank you Cris for spreading this video to al your friends. This is a very important message for all in Christ to be aware of and to take heed to in the disciples walk with Christ.
Excellent video my friend!!'The Seduction of Christianity' I read in 1987 as a missionary pastor. The book is still very, very, revelant and a must read!!!We need to celebrate the awesome holiness of God and repent of our worldliness.
Hi Jesse 859, just saw your comment today. I didn't know Dave wrote a book called Beyond Seduction. I'll check Amazon and Ebay. Thanks and God Bless you

where is the contrast in video?

@inrsprt ::: Nothing tricky or false here. He preaches according to Psalms 35:27.

I wonder if Victoria's prayer was before or after another altercation with a fight attendant.

They need our prayers!
fischerpilne 1 year ago
@fischerpilne :: I don't think Joel's congregation would agree with you that he says 'absolutely nothing'. He follows the admonition in Psalms 35:27. You are wrong about cotton candy having no nutritional value - it is a carbohydrate and supplies calories. Truly you have spoken, you are tired, crabby, and sick. There is no deception here, just a level of spirituality you do not understand, because you have grown in judgement, not grown in grace.

Where is the substance in Joel's message? It reminded me of a church I've been to where the message was the same: love & money, money & love...there is sooo much more treasure and truth in His word!!
ssleidl 1 year ago
@ssleidl :: The substance of Joel's message seems to have escaped you. It is based in Proverbs 23:7. Joel preaches to Christians, so he does not do the work of an evangelist. Sounds like you need a big dose of that love, and maybe a little of that money too. There are a lot of missions out there you could donate to.
k0smon 9 months ago
@k0smon We are known by our fruit, and I wasn't only referring to this clip. In addition, you have no idea about the work I do for Christ and therefore your judgement upon me has no merit. I would recommend that you be careful with this "emerging church" which is the deception that Christ and other wrote about in scripture. Peace

he's a motivational speaker. feel good nothingness. no sin no need to repent no alter call for sinners. God will smack him hard and his ole lady too(and duped followers) prophecy of end times " men will depart from real faith and have ears tickled by feel good osteens" basically.
zackrowe1 1 year ago 4
@zackrowe1 CAREFUL YOU MIGHT GET SMACKED TOO.
46lfries 1 year ago
@zackrowe1 ::: The biggest congregation in the country and he preaches 'nothingness'? Hardly. Since he addresses his sermons to Christians, he does not preach about sin or repentance or alter calls. Your comments are a violation of James 4: 10-12.

Me, myself and I?
Who loses his life for the sake of the Lord shall be saved, It's all about Jesus not about '' yourself '', that's the prosperity gospel.
Tomdabombb91 1 year ago

@universalmusac Only by ingonrant ranting like yours?....so you read the Bible? or are you just the typical critic who hates it but has not read it?
Gideon6640 1 year ago
@universalmusac YOU NEED TO SAVED & LET THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACH YOU .
46lfries 1 year ago
@46lfries The holy spirit sends very confusing messages. You've got the Catholics who think it says one thing, the Methodists another, the Lutherans another, etc, etc. For being all powerful he really sucks at communication.
Also if God is the Father AND the Son, isn't he incestuous? I mean that means he created himself by having sex with his mother.

Funkdogg 1 year ago
@universalmusac actually, great examples that we can learn from. The Bible is my life's manual of how to live, and what NOT to do (through examples of these hypocracies). It also shows us how human and real these people are and that God loves them despite these hypocracies.
ssleidl 1 year ago
I think it is important to understand some of the validity that lakewood and Joel preaches, however it is more of a motivational style theology mix. I dont know how much biblical focus there is in the actual church but from tv broadcasting it focus' alot on motivation vs Jesus

Paul defined love as being patient, this english word is derived from a Greek word which meant to suffer. So first off St. Paul is saying to love others is to suffer with and for them, just like Jesus did for you and me, and everyone.

@Brucev7 said Bless you with honor?' Aren't we to honor God?' God is no respecter of men.
1 Samuel 2:30 (NKJV)
But now the LORD says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.
John 12:26 (NKJV) Jesus said
26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

firedog: I might consider you an uneducated ass if I were to judge from your spelling and sentence construction. Normally, sentences begin with capital letters, and the word is 'you're' (as in 'you are').
Maybe God will give you an 'A' in judgementalship.

I agree with BlazingHarpazo.
We must contend with what Paul said to Timothy...
2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJVA
(24) And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
(25) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
(26) And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
