What a weird thing to do... have they never heard of a nest before? Get the bird a box, fill it with happy birdy fillings, and he'll sleep like a baby. No need for odd perch attachments he might never use, since Greys are so finicky.
And the "he hasn't slept in 18 months" thing is kind of silly.
Same thing happened to my parakeet. Some thing knocked his cage over at night, and he lost a nail. He's alive, and the vet fixed him up, but the ordeal was very traumatizing for him.
Hats off to the people trying to help the poor parrot. Wish there was a prosthetic leg they could come up with instead of a perch attatchment. He doesn't need two legs to sleep. He could sleep on a towel in the bottom of the cage. My bird frequently roosts one leg supporting and the other in the feathers of his belly.
@leztiger mine too, but i think the foot keeps their balance, w/o it it must be hard. I always fely bad that they're always standing even on two feet, because they cant fly to gt off the feet once in a while, but at least they can switch feet. this poor bird has all its weight on one foot all day and night and cant get a break. I want to know happened today?
Way back in 1894, a little girl named Madeline Crothe was skipping through the woods when a mysterious man in black snatched her. He brought her to his house, tourtered her, and starved her to death. Send this to 6 videos in the next 30 min. and you will be safe, but if you don't... at approximately 1: 34 tonight you will wake up to see an aneorexic child holding a bloodied up knife and she will kill you

ok. he can balance and i see birds sleeping on one foot all the time. this guy is an asshole the parrot is more uncomfortable with that un-natural chunk of plastick you ever see that other one with those two disk of plastick this guys is proabaly better what im tryoing to say is you all can die
@flybybutterflies Hes probably in a small cage so he can get to his food/water and get around easier. The bigger the cage the harder iit would be to get to everything.
18 months! He must've got some sleep, cos I don't think he'd be alive otherwise. I know a human will die if he doesn't get at least some sleep. I know I couldn't survive without 6-8 hours a night.
@robertghouston yeah, i agree. they probably mean he hasnt had a "good" night sleep in 18 months since it happened, because he probably wakes up often throughout the night trying to get comfortable.
