haha, well you kinda weren't too original with the first solo, used a couple Scream, Aim, Fire riffs in that :P but everything else in the solo was pretty cool. LOVE the second solo though! Definitely a great cover!

Actually no, not at all. That first solo is centered more around the more eastern-sounding minor scales used by Marty Friedman of Megadeth fame which incidentally, Oli Herbert of All That Remains favors as well.

Well you're good no doubt about that.

The only thing I would suggest is:

1) Tune your rhythm guitar again. It was quite out of tune.

2) Make sure you're soloing in the right key when you improv. There were some poor note choices in there.

Othere than that. I think it was GREAT!

Thanks for commenting and the constructive criticism, but I'll have to respectfully disagree with you.

1) My guitars are always in tune, there's not even a maybe about that.

2) I do solo in the right key, I just don't stick rigidly to only one scale. Key is not limited to just the standard pentatonic scales and church modes, Players like Buckethead, Marty Friedman, and John Petrucci frequently go "outside" of the scales to add variety to a solo. I did the same. This is a key to good improv!

I'm definitely not trying to question your tuning ability, I'm just pointing out that in the very begining of the song two of the notes are clashing with the real song in the back. (You know how when a note is out of tune the vibrations get stronger? Like that.) Of course it could also mean that you accidently bended the note.

Secondly, on the first solo you're the right scales, yes. But you do leave the key established for the song.

Firstly, no notes clashed in the intro, there are two harmonized guitars playing, you may only be hearing the higher pitched harmony

Second, out of tune notes don't cause stronger vibrations in and of themselves, there's just no basis for that statement.

Third, key refers to the tonic "center" of a piece. If I play a chromatic run or passing note or diminished chord, I have not left the key just because notes appeared that weren't in the scale the key is in. This is extremely common in music

The triplets take a little time. I know you've probably heard this everywhere, but you must practice them slow before you can play them fast. You must use a metronome and play clean before you speed things up. Don't worry, your speed will come!

ok so I watched it. it was a pretty neat cover. your solo in the beginning fit in pretty well in there.. but when the song transitions into the pre-solo, I think the solo you added here was a tad much and to me made the song lose some of it's great feel. If anything you should have let the solo be as it was.
