It's about the angle of the blade. You have to alter the angle to compensate for the angle of deflection that will occur due to the side spin.
Basically, you have to angle the blade away from the direction of the spin.
So, if the sidespin is spinning into the center of the table from your right arm side, then you must angle the blade to the left side of the table, because it will naturally want to deflect to the right.

yeah but its very hard to neutralize a topspin serve with a short receiving behind the the net of the enemy... looks easier than it is.
the flip i can do quite good with the backhand, very hard even on good backspin if its high enough, but his way of doing a forehand flip is outrageous !
the tut is nice but in a match is idiotic just to take out all spin no matter where u put the ball if ur enemy is fast...
he says that it´s only a matter of the right angle when you receive the ball and that you should hit the ball sidewise in order to neutralize the spin...
Besides, it is clever to play the ball in different direction each time so that the opponent cant adapt to your recieve.
