Shockingly tragic video! I'm stunned that a company which focuses on diminishing the deleterious sequelae of infectious disease would knowingly infect thousands. I'm sympathetic for those affected. But to suggest that Bush or the USA is solely culpable is misguided. BAYER holds the blame for the tragedy. Trendy to vilify government, but preventing future calamities-deify the human race or tighten import protocols/increase agency funding for regulation of imported food/health related items

I am suprised to see this video and the news on these infections comming out so late. Two of my family members who both lived in the US contracted AIDS from this very medication and have both passed.  They contracted the disease before 1983. Why so long? Glad to see it becoming a public issue at last.

its because of the medical tests involved to detect AIDS. The tests aren't 100% accurate and there is even a point where results can become "less than detectable" for some with AIDS. But even at "less than detectable" it is still acknowledged that there is no cure for AIDS as of yet and that this doesn't mean your cured but that the machinery and tests just can't detect something so small.

Also, I have never heard of AIDS being transmitted this way via a medication. In fact idk if I believe this at all. For example, there are 3 known ways of transmitting AIDS. 1: sexual activity. 2: reused/improperly disposed of needles. 3: blood/fluid contact.  Think about it. A medication has AIDS in it right? well you have to ingest and digest the medication. Which means that the stomach acid would destroy the AIDS virus. Kinda why its only been discovered to be contracted via fluids..

But hell, what do I know right? I've only had the HIV/AIDS virus since birth and my dad was a Red Cross Representative in the past for AIDS. I've been thru alot and I know alot about the AIDS virus. All I'm saying is that the idea of it being transmitted via any kind of medication is extremely far-fetched...

Factor VIII is a blood-clotting factor. So this was an inject able, blood product. This actually happened in the 80's.
